  1. 20-25 is what I get out of mine to mate, will look up the last emissions reading from the MOT over the weekend for ya. Nick
  2. A cooper S is only 0.3 secs slower to 60 so it's pretty much down to the driver as to who ends up in front at the traffic light GP. If it was a works S you'd have been eating his dust regardless of hitting 2nd first time or not I'm afraid! Nick
  3. Needs red calipers to finish it off but looks good so far. Nick
  4. THis happened to me this morning so guess wht I'm doing this weekend along with fixing my oil leak? Weirdly mine didn't work on 4 either for a while then suddenly it did! Nick
  5. Once the oil temp has hit 85 then every gear except 5th. Just me then? Humm probably explains my oil leak! Nick
  6. Oh and Hi James, see you wednesday at No-Rice? Nick
  7. Yeah 8v has less torque all the way through the rev range but the 16v feels like it's less because of the torque spike when it comes on cam. My 2.0 16v is running KR cams and dicks all over any Standard MKII or MKIII GTI. It's also a fair bit quicker than my mates 2.0 Fiesta ST and another mates heavily modified 2.0 8v MKII Golf. I've done a traffic light GP with a standard MKIII VR6 and we were level pegging up to about 70 and then he pulled away. Nick
  8. That's awsome, cheers toad you're a ledge. It went from max to min on my way home from work tonight (21 miles!) so it's got to bad to drive it anywhere now. Gonna get it up on the jack in the morning and have a good nose around to double check where the leak is before ordering the parts. Lucky I've got tomorrow off to go crimbo shopping with the wife. Not that she's impressed that we'll be leaving late as I have to mess with the car and order parts before we go. Nick
  9. Cheers fella, looks like this is the likely culprit and it's dropping loads now. Dropped about an egg cup full since I nipped out at lunchtime. A Q for other 2,0 16v owners. How many senders does your have in the oil cooler housing? 1 or 2? My mate reckons it should have 2 but mine only has 1 and a plug but everything looks fine with no wires hanging about unconnected etc. Nick

    Faded plastic trim

Or you could just use peanut oil which is less messy although more expensive and can't be spread on hot buttered toast. NIck
  11. Right just been out for a nosey in daylight and I see the one sender on the cooler and that is deffo not leaking. There are several small pools of oil under the car and there are drips hanging off two places on the sump and the bottom of the filter. Looking at all the above I think it's safe to assume it's filter/cooler/housing related as the oil on the sump is either a second leak (weeping sump gasket) or is just where oil is blown from the filter area onto the engine then running down and dripping off the sump. How hard is it to remove the cooler? Do you have to drain the coolant? I think my plan for the weekend is to replace the filter, do an oil change and degrease the engine to keep an eye on the leak. I'll change the cooler gaskets if it's an easy job to do in a car park so fill me in! Nick
  12. Cheers guys I'll have a nosey at it on Saturday. I may well do a oil and filter change and see if that sorts it. Nick
  13. Yes they are, saw another shot of a darker green one recently and it looked stunning. Nick
  14. Hi Folks, Got an oil leak on my 2.0 16v that appears to be coming from the oil cooler or the filter. Is this a common problem and if so what is normally the cause? Filter, gasket or cooler failure? If it's the cooler are these still available new? I've had a cooler go on MKII golf but that wa san internal failure and caused the oil and water to mix. Are these coolers the same part? Nick
  15. They've agreed to cover the costs of the replacement tyre once their courier (paid for by them) has collected the old tyre and they have satisfied themselves that it is faulty. Nick
  16. Yeah it will be. Pretty much all the dub range used the same heater box behind the dash. MKII and MKIII Golf, B3 and B4 Passat and Rado. If you look up heater matrix on GSF for all those you should find the part number is the same for all of them. Whatever you do wash the new matrix with soapy water before you fit it to remove the protective layer of oil otherwise it will stink for ages! Nick
  17. Yeah it would be good to catch up for a chat mate. Nick
  18. Horse for courses. Big stretch ain't my thing and my engineering head says it doesn't look safe. I know why the drift guys do it, to lose traction easily for a good drift. This is one of the reasons I'm skeptical of it being a good thing on a road car where you want maximum grip for safety. I'm not going to have a pop though, it's your car and you like it, that's what counts. I look forward to getting some shots of it tonight at SoVAG if you're still going. Nick
  19. Good plan stan I shall do that! Nick
  20. Sending this email at 12:00. What you guys think? Nick
  21. Hanging is too good for some people. Nick
  22. VW Estorils. came fitted to some Corrado's I think. Think they also came new on some MKII Golf GTI's and B3 Passat G60 Syncros. Nick
  23. Nice one, welcome to the valver club. Nick
  24. No, they're multi fit, got 10 holes all round the hub, so I'm guessing they'd do 4x100. The offer stands mate if you wanna. That'll be 5x100 and 5x120 if it's got 10 holes. Cheers though mate :) Nick
  25. They want the whole wheel back and I can't really drive about with 3 alloys and a 14" Steel as I need the car for work. I think I'm just going to have to take the hit and ask for my money back for the tyre (or even a contribution for my hassle). I'll keep the old one so they can have it back to inspect it. Nicki
