.... arrived this morning and made me smile. A cracking shot on the front and gave me my first sense of that christmas feeling. Nick

Get yourself over to www.golfgti.co.uk and hav a look in the MKV section, some good tips on getting a hefty discount on one. A few folks have been picking up brand new un registered R32's for less than the price of a used MKV GTi! Nick

Wowsers. That is all. Nick

The ABF is the 2.0 16v fitted to MKIII Golfs, Ibiza and Toledo GTI's and a few Audis of the same era. In standard trim fitted without a cat and with decent intake setup these easily pull 165 - 170bhp. Put on a 4 branch, flow the inlet manifold and get it chipped and you can expect to knocking on the door of 180bhp. Add a flowed head and you'll be looking at approx 200bhp. You should be able to pick up a lump and the engine bay loom for £250 and it'll go straight on your gearbox and is pretty much plug and play. It won't make the same noise as a VR but it'll keep up with one unless it's been charged. Nick

An ABF would be easier for similar power gains but minus the weight. Nick

Pants, looks like I'll have to order the right ones from Venom then. Adz you want these VR ones for £15+ postage? nick

What if I fit VR top mounts at the same time? Is that all that's different? Nick

Mine are the JOM ones, paid £16 for them off a fella on here, brand new in box. Took a punt hoping they'd fit. Nick

Yours is a VR right? My caps are part numbered for a VR so if they don't work/fit on my valver you're welcome to have them for what I paid. Not sure when I'm going to get round to a trial fitment though. Nick
-
Mine is apparently dropped 40mm but I don't know what set up is fitted. It sits quite nicely at the rear but the front is a little high, I hope the caps fit. Nick

When I fit mine mate I'll let you know what I think!I'm in the same boat cost wise. Nick

That reminds me, I really must get round to putting that back on! Nick

I missed the Blues Brothers nod. I also thought it was the best segment of this series, just goes to show they've still got it when they try. I have however found the last 2 series to be too short (only 6 episodes, last one next week) and not very original in content. I think they should take a proper long break over the rest of winter and come back in the spring with a decent 10 week run that mixes the laughes with a few more interesting and in depth segments. Yeah modding your batteries and fully ballracing your car. Mind you you'd hop a brand new mini would be fully ballraced from the factory! Nick

The problem with electric cars is the UK struggles to provide enough leectriticy to the masses right now. Add to that the problem of our power station bein gpassed their use by date but no new ones being built and then loads of people pluggin gin cars and we'll be suffering black outs! Nick

Black 16v's rule, good purchase! Nick

Seems to be fixed. I changed the filter and the O ring between the cooler and the bracket. I'll be monitoring it over the next few days. Right onto the heater blower next. nick

Humm I have KR cams to but don't have any backfire issues. That said I haven't had the fuelling or timing checked since the cams went in. Nick
