  1. Sods law I bought a brand new one earlier! New ones few great.
  2. I've had these tyres in 205/45/16 for a few hundred miles as well, a lot of that in torrential conditions. They have always felt well planted with decent feedback. Not the best tyre I've ever had, contis sport 3's felt better when hammering along in the dry but the difference is only marginal. As an all weather tyre they are really pretty damn good and considering how little they cost through Mr Lobitos, there isn't a better tyre for everyday road driving. I'm not sure I'd love them on a track day but I don't really do those. I run mine at 36 front and 32 rear so are still pretty supple over broken ground.
  3. Sounds like exactly the golf I had many moons ago! Great car!
  4. I've had a hell of a week Jim, ill send you over some cash tomorrow. Nice one on sorting all of this out for us!
  5. You need to wire in a relay 100 for the sai code and a 330 ohm resistor for the evap code. You need both for the adaption to work.
  6. Before you post these, can you post up the part number please? My local dealer is useless!
  7. Looking forward to seeing some more pictures once the car has settled.
  8. Probably hit it with the lowering stick at some point, Jim. Got a few options that I'm mulling over at the moment so need to decide which one I like the most. Dave posted up a picture of his on B12s yesterday that I quite like but I've not decided until I see some other pictures.
  9. It doesn't kick out that when switched off and dissipated my naval friend! I won't lie, the ch's were such a pretty wheel and it's a shame that it came to this but she was lardy at over 20kgs a corner. I won't miss spending 10 mins a wheel cleaning them either!
  10. Yeah I'm a legacy rigger. Lol might be better but full respect for their ability to tame electricity! I'm OK with car electrics but throw in the aircraft side of things and I'm not as confident!
  11. Well, the ch's have gone to a new home which meant I had to get the speedies fitted. Car isn't much use to me sans wheels! I only managed to get the 1 half decent shot but at least you get the idea. Next I need to find some centre caps! Initial impressions are that they totally transform the way the car drives and I like they way the rainsport 3's drive. Further updates in due course.
  12. Easy swap, just unscrew the old 1 and fit new. Not expensive either.
  13. My local vw is a building site. Kinda goes with my current under construction look!
  14. I've bought and sold some great stuff on there over the years!
  15. That's the place. Good stalking skills! They went within 24 hours and plenty of interest.
  16. Elsewhere, had lots of people messing me about on here unfortunately. Not everyone did but lots wanted something for nothing.
  17. Diagnostics are a black plug and a white plug. The Black one is there but I don't know what the other 2 colours are for, never seen that!
  18. Well I had a bit of free time earlier so I got on and fixed my water pump pulley lack of bolts problem. Nice and tight now with plenty of thread lock so that shouldn't be a problem again. I also greased up the bearing on the idler pulley and all seems well. To celebrate, I popped out to sort a few other things and seeing as I had the darling wife with me, we ended up in a garden centre and the old girl got to bring a load of stuff back for her troubles including compost and a concrete bird bath! Not the reason I built a car admittedly but she preformed flawlessly as she has for the vast majority of the 850 odd miles since the rebuild was completed!
  19. When putting some fuel in the car the other day. Shouted from across the forecourt; "Oi Mate! Nice Scirocco! I used to have one of them years ago! Ace car!" "Thanks, Don't see too many of them around these days" was all I could muster!
