  1. My Schrick is currently away being "molested" and all the internals are at home on the bench. I can get you pics and any measurements you may need. Drop me a PN with the info/pictures your after! :)
  2. What did you do to the block to get it looking better? Mine is in a similar state and it is need of a clean, any tips/info would be much appreciated!
  3. :notworthy: some awesome work!!!
  4. Didn't think you were gonna "powder coat" the whole car white
  5. When you say soldering do you mean lead filler? If so lead filler is quite good and if done well there should be no/litte sinkage and less body filler is always a bonus!
  6. Were they dipped or sand blasted before being coated?
  7. Thanks, it was more the seal itself. I couldn't get it on for the life in me, not sure if the seal on the golf is different to corrado as its a glass sunroof :confused4: Think its something i might have a go at this winter as my golf is now tucked up in the garage! :D
  8. Might seem daft but how did you fit the new sunroof seal? I tried doing this to my old Mk3 Golf a few years ago and didn't get very far :( Ended up taking it to the local dealer and they did it...
  9. Wow Kev that really is an amazing timeline, lots of innovative touches. I really like this car a lot, very subtle but with more power than anyone would assume on first looks! Hope there are more updates to come! :D
  10. As far as I know the Passat 35i, Corrado and Mk3 Golf all use similar parts for the cruise control. I fitted it to my old 2.0 8v 20th Anni and it was pretty much plug and play. Where about in Germany are you, if your in the Stuttgart area I can help! :)
  11. Why weren't the stub axle faces masked off before being coated?
  12. Looks good, reminds me of a Mexican wrestler! ;) Hows the eye?
  13. Stunning, looking really good. Quick question did you paint or change the dipstick from yellow to red?
  14. No mate, bit too far for me. I thought you said it was a bit far ;) Looked good at E38X, i should have a pic some where just need to upload it!
  15. I would suggest checking the fuel filter, it might not be 100% sealed. So it could be leaking hence the smell of fuel and hard starting as fuel isn't reaching the injectors.
  16. Whats the best way to do this, i don't have access to a lift and getting under the car is a pain as i currently have no axle stands :( Is it possible to remove it directly at the cylinder head or are some the bolts not accessible? Therefore the only way to do it is from underneath? Any tips and experience doing this would be greatly appreciated. The reason i want to do it is so i can get my cylinder head refurbished.
  17. Looking really good, saw this at MIVW! Will you be at Edition38 in a couple of weeks?
  18. Sounds like a plan, where in Köln are you, I live near Stuttgart. Why are you taking it back to the UK to have a rebuild? I know Stealth are very reputable but it seems an expensive way when there are lots of places here in DE that can do the same job. Or you could do it yourself? ;) and I didn't understand the comment from earlier about not being able to work on the car in a shared garage, what's that all about???
  19. When I fitted my Samco's over 2 years ago I thought the same but in the end never tried to fit the protective sleeve and mine have been OK. As Samco say there hoses can withstand extreme heat and pressure, so they should be OK
  20. OK so played around a bit more last night and found the following G127 - when it has anything less than 3.94 volts then the car idles normally, should this go to 3.94 volts then the car doesn't idle. This can also be influenced by turning the A/C on, it idles more stable. Could this mean the throttle body is broken? As I have tried the alignment several times. Each time successful but the idle always remains the same, stable then after a short period it fluctuates.
  21. I have VAGCOM and there are no codes showing up at all. I also re-aligned the TB thinking this may have been responsible but no help either...
  22. When the car has warmed up the idle isn't smooth, it fluctuates between about 750-950rpm. But if you dab the throttle the idle the stabilizes for a while, maybe 30secs and then starts to fluctuate again. At first I thought it was an air leak in the intake but I can't find one. The other thing noticeable on the car is that it stinks of petrol but I can't find any leaks (still need to check the injector seals though). Could it be running rich and what can be the causes of this, assuming it is not the injectors. Can it be the thermostat or is it something else like fuel trim? Can it be adjusted using VAG-COM? Or would the car need to have its emissions checked and only through that can the fuel trim be adjusted? Oh and it is a Golf with the later style electronic throttle body and coilpack. Thanks in advance! :)
  23. I had to jack the engine up on my Mk3 Golf as you can't get the lower bolt out for the chassis leg, not sure if the Corrado is the same :confused4:
