  6. See Page 3 of this thread, I've already approached the seller of the solid VR6 front mounts about a potential group buy on these and he has promised to come back to me in the next few days with a price - I'm hoping around £45.00 each delivered, but will have to wait and see. It will be the same as his E Bay one with 3 minor differences: 1) It will be 100% crack detected to ensure there are no inherent flaws in the ally 2) It will be anodised in Chromic Acid which still gives corrosion protection but retains all the inherent strength of the material 3) The bolt will be Zinc Plated & Colour Passivated rather than just blackened as again it gives superior corrosion protection and being grade 12.9 steel it will be heat treated both prior and post plating to remove embrittlement stresses from the plating process. Be interested in numbers, hopefully 10 people would be enough to get a good price. Cheers, Ian.
  7. Without wanting to sound like I'm gatecrashing this, I was impressed with what I read about Andy (Cazza VR) and the solid mount he recently fitted, as below: " Did a bit of research on here and on VR6OC and found that quite a few Golf VR6 drivers are using a solid front mount. Wasn't too keen on the idea- had a solid mount on my last 16v and it gave horrible vibrations at idle etc. However, after looking at the reviews, the guys on VR6OC seemed very impressed and also said it gives next to no extra vibrations, due to the cross-member bushings. So I bought one off Ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-Mk3-VR6-S ... 2c59852c78 . Well-priced and arrived quickly. It's a really nice piece of kit! Fitted it last night, and took for a good old drive this morning... it's superb! The car feels amazing + there is basically NO extra vibration. Totally cured the engine movement, gearchange feels better too. Would totally recommend this mount " I think at the price this may be a viable option for VR6 owners so I have E Mailed the seller to see if he would be interested in a potential group buy and an idea of price. Depending on what he comes back with, this may be an alternative for those who just want to replace their front mount at a cheaper price? I will keep you all informed. Ian.
  8. Temperature is key to plating as you have found out, if too cold the solution can eventually crystalize. If you are only doing small quantities of parts perhaps consider using de-min water instead of tap water (if you can heat it) in something like a couple of cut off plastic containers - Swill in one then the other so they don't get too contaminated. If you have access to one, any all metal parts (careful with plastic perhaps?) can be dried off in an oven at around 50 > 60c for 20 mins or so to ensure completely dry - Another tip is if you have an airline then "blow off" any excess water prior to drying as it is less likely to have any staining. Excellent job so far!! Ian.
  9. I believe it's the middle box that is missing. Ian.

  14. Is it a straightish hose that goes onto a pipe and then the water pump? - If yes, for a 1.8 4 cyl PG type engine Vagcat says it is 191121051M. Ian.

  19. This was one of my favourite VR's when Chris had it, you've got a good one there Darren!! Ian :D
  20. You should try and rent or buy an air compressor and get an air pAint gun as the rattle cans aren't any good as the poster above has said. I have also seen good things about a HVLP which is basically an electric compressor. Not sure how good they are but the guns are pretty cheap HVLP is a type of spray gun, it stands for high velocity low pressure - We use Devilbiss GTI's and Compacts at work, quite expensive (£250/300 each retail) but good quality with excellent sales and technical support (they are based in Bournemouth). Ian.
  21. Very good price, most companies around this area want £25/30 per wheel - Mates rates? Ian.
  22. I seem to recall someone posting B4 that a late 90's Ibiza GTI moonroof was a perfect replacement? Ian.
