  1. Correct, it looks like the sensor? that goes round one of the OE plug leads as they are aftermarket ones. Ian.
  2. Ask Dave about VW Leads, he showed us a 10 month old 16V set today that had failed miserably - Did the E Bay leads allow you to refit the separate ignition sensor Jim (Link?) Cheers, Ian.
  3. 3M and other companies do high temp masking tapes that go up to many 100's of centigrade, we use it on Rolls Royce engine cases that we paint. Ian.
  4. According to a text I had off Jake the car is in Stonehouse. Ian.
  5. so whats the advantage of having a higher compression ratio? I would guess a slight improvement in power but you would probably have to use higher octane fuel to get the full benefit? Ian.
  6. What were you doing in Oxford then Andy, that's my old neck of the woods!! Ian.
  7. I think Andy (Cazza VR) has these on his VR and also on his previous 16V and he swears by them - Think he got them off E Bay. Ian.
  8. Me too, another job for the weekend (weather permitting). Ian. :salute:
  9. Looks like available here: http://www.veedubmachine.co.uk/index.ph ... cts_id=251 Ian.

These people I believe come highly recommended: http://www.paints4u.com/ Ian.
  11. Glad you're pleased with them Jon, made a visit to the fastener co tonight and bought some more. Ian.
  12. Just changed mine too, took a few attempts to get the doors adjusted properly but really pleased with the end result!! Ian.
  13. Even cheaper under this listing: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kit-Suspension-Co ... uning#shId Ian.
  14. Or something like this, brand name with good warranty and high CCA: http://www.motionbattery.co.uk/Premium- ... de-Battery Ian.
  15. I'll second that, mine turn up today they look stunning :D Thanks Miles, glad you're pleased with them - More ordered that I'm picking up from the fastener co tomorrow, so can supply next week to anybody who missed out. Ian.
  16. To continue the red/black colour scheme on the VR6, after waiting just over a week from VW, fitted a new metal cover to the number plate lights that I got sprayed matt black at work plus new (black) plated screws and washers. Nice bonus though, ordered and paid for one but there was two in the bag - Keep the other one safe as they're bound to go obsolete soon!!! Ian :D
  17. Yep, according to Wikipedia just 230 bhp for the 3.7Litre V8.
  18. Thanks Jon, about 10 mins or so with a socket set and you'll have them changed over!! Ian.
  19. Or do you mean these? download/file.php?id=83742&t=1 Ian.
  20. http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r314 ... 6/rad1.jpg Is it these that you are referring to - If so, they were M6 x 15. Should still be available or just replace with St/Steel? Ian.
  21. The rad support are M6 x 15 - I have sourced these now in St/Steel as was requested and they are in with the wing bolt/washer kits that I supply. Ian.
  22. Can't, I bought it without the rubbing strips - In all honesty I prefer it without them on, will just have to be very careful in car parks etc.
  23. I finally went and bought myself a VR6 last Saturday, so after being nagged by Andy (Cazza VR) I thought I'd better start a thread on it. Got up early to catch the train from Gloucester to Tunbridge Wells, Kent after agreeing a deal over the phone with the seller Chris - He collected me from the station and the car looked as good as it had done in the advert. Really enjoyed the trip home, averaged nearly 32 mpg in stop/start traffic according to the MFA. It is all standard suspension and brake wise, apart from a magnex cat back stainless exhaust and audioscape front door pods. It is high mileage, nearly 201K, but has had a replacement vege engine @ 143K and as the local forum members who saw it last Sunday will testify the body is in excellent condition (just a lack of paint on the corner of the front bumper). Came with a box file full of receipts, old sprinter mags plus an original VW Corrado brochure and price list. It has obviously been really looked after by the previous owner, who had it for 10 years, and I intend to do the same - I've always liked Flash Red after seeing Jim's valver in the flesh. Intend to keep it pretty standard, but have replaced a few things already. The rear wiper is now an aero one to match the TT fronts, the tailgate strut bracket screws have been replaced with zinc plated St/Steel ones with a new retaining pin and circlip. The front struts now have plastic caps to tidy it up and have fitted a TT washer bottle cap, as it looks more modern.Sourced and fitted a 2nd hand Golf battery jacket/cover and replaced all the stickers on the plastic rad panel plus all the headlamp screws. The slam panel and rad support bracket bolts have all been replaced with St/Steel ones too. The o/s front fog light was cracked so I also replaced that and after a lot of use the leather stg wheel had lost most of it's grain around the rim so swopped that with another that I had. Need to get a replacement drivers door card as the fabric is very worn but apart from that it is in really good condition trim wise. I will not be doing a lot of miles, just the odd trip to work and weekends, so hopefully it will last me a good many years.
