  1. You could say that. It's a VRT. It's the one that was at Elsecar this year.
  2. Fortunately one neighbour has camper and the other is very chilled. :D Dropped on really.
  3. Couple more pics The neighbours must love me  Current state of engine bay
  4. Boxster S front calipers allow a 28mm thick disc (I.e. the 323mm Leon Cupra R disc) which I'm gonna put on the Blackberry. You have to flip the fronts upside down though because of piston alignment! Where as the Boxster S rear calipers allow upto a 24mm disk, I.e. the 312mm TT etc. disc which is 23mm thick and they don't need flipping round! As you probably guessed, I bought calipers from all 4 corners off a Boxster S. All of which are Brembo 4 pots.
  5. I was busy Monday! Here's my achievements. And for the Mk1 boy, can you guess why its a special one? Before anyone says it, yes I put them on the wrong car! Fear not that was just for practice (pain full practice mind that ended up taking all day for various reasons) but financed by my brother :D On the blue VR is Boxster S rears with Black Diamond 312mm discs and redstuff pads. I'm putting the Boxster S fronts on the Blackberry with 323mm discs. Next step is to get the charge cooler running and bolt the charger back on, hopefully will get the charge cooler running this weekend! And then put the Brembo's on as I still need to get a bracket manufactured for the fronts. Will also put some pics of the Blackberry up this weekend.
  6. It was done at Hants Autogas Conversions! was 6 years ago so not sure how much they will remember
  7. MOT'd Saturday, Taxed this morning. Clamped by the DVLA this afternoon. :brickwall: F'in brilliant! Released 20min later after I called them to inform them it was actually taxed. Doh! :epicfail:
  8. Yeah that's definitely too high. Mine ran a little higher than I liked but a new rad and coolant and it runs much cooler! I do mean oil temps not water by the way. What sort of condition is your radiator in? Old ones just don't seem to be half as effective as new ones in my recent experience. Also I put a little less coolant in, as water is a lot better at cooling than coolant. Now down to 1.5 litres coolant in the system from 2 litres.
  9. The oil is definitely cleaner, looks barely used after 5K miles. Have to start on petrol, but the engine only has to get to about 40 deg C with is less than a mile before it switches over. I know of at least 2 Corrado VR6's with LPG so you'll not be the guinea pig for sure. Mine was fitted to a standard engine so don't think my other mods have anything to do with it. I wish mine had the filler in the boot though as it looks cleaner and some fillers will not stretch over the car.
  10. That's my thread  Not very detailed I afraid. Basically I bought mine with it fitted. Its a Prinns VSI system. Been very reliable other than a minor software issue. It is a standard system with orange injectors but had to have an oversize (solenoid or filter) on the regulator, I can't remember which! Certainly no noticeable loss in power.
  11. You'll not do cold starting any favours! Try unplugging it, that'll give you a better idea I'd say. Personally I'd just replace it cos your gonna need something to bypass the throttle or it will just cut out. If it doesn't you probably have a vacuum leak.
  12. It's not easy, you could say my engineering project went out of control. And low and behold I ended up with a Rado off the road, so needed alternative transport. I got a Golf as a daily runner (Mk3 GTi 16V) , you could say I wasn't a fan :(. It was lowered so handling was good I have to admit, it was the engine which drove me insane though, gave a decent low down kick of torque and. That's it. VR positively annihilated it after 3K. So what else would I get? VR6 No 2 appeared on the drive. I must admit insurance and tax feked me off, same car, charged twice = :( and skint. Wouldn't have it any other way though. I would love the efficiency of a diesel, but other than the low down torque satisfaction :brickwall: What you need mate is one of those reliable VR6's. or even 2
  13. Read a few opinions on this, it seem very good for anti lag, negates requirement for BOV. The turbo can spool up quicker due to the greater differential pressure across the compressor and less work to do as the air mass is much lower until WOT. However there are also numerous disadvantages, solid boost pipework needs to be used and a leak can end up in WOT! Turbo life is often reduced due to higher shaft speeds to compensate for running in a partial vacuum and the oil seals tend to fail earlier due to the vacuum present in the turbo.
  14. Awsome pictures. I notice a lot of throttle bodies attached to the compressor inlet, could that be of any benefit to road cars? Thinking about it it would probably stall the compressor much quicker than desired, or would it as it would be running in partial vacuum meaning much less air resistance! Who wants to be a guinea pig?
  15. Cheers Kev. I'll machine some sleeves up at work and give that a go. I wrongly assumed it would just slot in and jumped in at the deep end and stripped the lot down. Oh well you live and learn. A few pointers for anyone else removing the fuel pump. Have lots of rags handy as the whole assembly holds a lot of fuel and its very tricky trying to empty it all back into the fuel tank being careful not to damage the level float and sender. Make sure you have some spare hose clamps and tool ready as the ones on the pump assembly are not reusable. Finally make sure you have all the parts required before you start the job!
  16. Someone please help, I've made a right royal Fek up. I bought a Walbro GSS340 in tank fuel pump, the problem is I have the VDO in tank pump and it doesn't fit! Basically the pump its self is a smaller diameter. The outlet on the VDO is a right angle and on the Walbro it's straight and the connectors are just 2 different size spades spades on the VDO where its a Bosch style plug on the Walbro. I thought I could get around these two problems until I realised the size difference. I see one of two solutions to this: 1)Get a bosch setup and replace the pump with my Walbro one. 2)Send the Walbro back and get another suitable in tank pump. Anyone got any experience with either of these two decisions because I'm really stuck with 2.
  17. I'm not working today which is the problem as I work in Sheffield just down the road from GSF. I'll try and borrow one at some point to take a few pictures and we can post a few comparison pictures up.
  18. How about this, I get one from GSF and we compare them. I work near GSF and can borrow one (I'll not tell them that). When you planning on fitting it? We could meet at Harewood house if your going and you've not already fitted it and compare them, I'm sure everyone on here will appreciate it.
  19. That's worrying as I fitted that 6 months since. My other (best) C matrix is looming at 103K so might just do it for piece of mind trying the VAG part this time, hopefully I'll be able to tell the difference for £100.
  20. Cheers, now someone brings that little fact up, although I'd have to see it to believe it. It seems hard to believe that they would make the same part different qualities for different customers.
  21. By memory they are valeo one's, which is what GSF sell for 40 quid! So I read some where and is what I fitted to the daily.
  22. That is my target, so hopefully will see you there.
  23. Cheers, not sure I'll need luck, my house mate is an MOT tester :D Got it out of the garage last night and gave it a clean, can't wait for boosted VR6 action again. Also can't wait to see what the LSD and Brembo's are like, neither of which are fitted yet :( but the Brembo's will be by the end of the month :D and the LSD when I can afford a Helix clutch and gearbox rebuild :brickwall: .
  24. Top man, ebayed "battery box" and found just the job. Its actually only a tray but will stop the battery flying around the boot which in all I need. Unfortunately spare wheel retaining bolt has been replaced by the gas tank but I'm sure I can find something to attach the tray to, more than likely the gas tank mountings. Anyone else think the 6-branch exhaust manifolds sound like the exhaust is blowing, no leak in sight but it just sounds like it is.
  25. Just fired it up and every thing looked good. Just need to pipe up washers and fix down the battery in the boot and it should be good to go for the MOT. Can anyone recommend a good method of fixing the battery down in the boot?
