Sure you know this but, Hows the coil pack condition? Even though it didn't get wet when washing my car my old one ran like cr@p until it warmed up and any sign of moisture was long gone. Yours could have got moisture in while it been off the car!

I'll be joining M1 at junction 36, so can meet you at Woodhall (J31-J30) or Tibshelf (J29-28) at I'm guessing around 7am. When do you think you'll be passing? Joni -
That's good to know, was thinking it could prove a right PITA to map without that kind of functionality. Also bodes well for when the inevitable happens and the turbo is put back into action.
-
Kev, are you mapping this with a MAP sensor? If so can the DTA make adjustments (i.e. switch maps or additional enrichment) to account for the extra air flow due to the VVT and manifold geometry.

The cap comes off much easier, it's the click lock type. However you do need to trim the overflow pipe and slot the holes a bit.

West Midlands Rolling Road Day Feeler...?
VR6Joni replied to Jim's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
I'd defo be up for this providing it isn't on the second week in November. -
That HPA manifold is genius for simplification of pipework purposes, I dred to think what the price is though. I do wonder what HP cooling capacity it has though, plenty for us 2wd car owners I would have thought. Next purchase or what Kev?
-
Benjo! Are you still on the forum? I'm in need of some bridge pipes after a refurb to my brembos, can you still do them? Otherwise I'll have to get copper and paint them, which isn't as nice.

Got one from GSF today for 41.20 today, looks good as it has the metal sleeve that the genuine ones have. And considering all it is, is a magnet with a wire coil around it encapsulated in plastic is still more than it's worth. Lets just hope it extinguishes my ABS light! Should do an the one fitted is open circuit.
-
I've got a rant for this thread, I simply cannot see where the extra 60 quid comes from for the rear ABS sensor. I paid 40 odd quid for a front about 12 months ago and got a quote from VW for 104 quid for a rear ABS sensor today, I'm sorry but for a few foot of wire and a connector it's simply not worth it. I'd normally go genuine for this part but sorry, GSF here I come.

They are for charged cars to make intercooler pipe work easier and give a flatter torque curve, no benefits to be had with NA car's. Not a bad price for a short runner though!
-
Cheers for that David, I was planning on doing that but wanted to make sure nobody said "don't sick it in or the will be stuck in forever" or something daft along them lines.
-
The trim above my windscreen popped out the other day, pretty much the full width across. It now pops out at high speed which is very annoying. It's not damaged so providing it's supposed to be held in with some sort of adhesive I'd be happy with that. If so what should I stick it in with?

Bit of turbo goodness, check out the new Garret GTX series.
-
It was outside Central Garage, what were they doing then, touching up stone chips or something that have built up through the summer. Anyway having seen what they work on I recon it is/was in safe hands. I quite like that Audi quattro UR they have in at the moment.

288mm brake conversion with good quality pads should get you improved braking but you'll never get pedal feel anywhere like a new car due to the massive amount of assistance they have which I think is too much anyway. I wouldn't change the steering, I think its spot on as it it, if you must maybe a smaller pulley on the power steering pump would make it a bit lighter. However I would recommend renewing all the bush's up front as they can make a massive difference.

I know where it went last night because I drove past it this morning. What were you possibly having done there?

A couple of my friends can't make this now so a couple of camping tickets are going spare. Any takers for the price of a Sunday ticket? -

KIP, I work next to Don Valley Stadium so can lend a hand if it's more convenient. Otherwise I'll see you all there. I'm camping this year and weather is looking fairly promising :)
