There is a tyre shop in edinburgh that sells 195/50/15 for £47 inc fitting/balanceing/new valves.

Sinse you are going over the Forth Road Bridge, rather than the Kincardine bridge, u could meet the edinburgh group (3 of us at least) in south queensferry or something......coming along the motorway you will come past a big tesco there, we could meet in that carpark? 9.30ish?

They're here at last.....it only took 5 weeks!!!! Now all I need is the rest of my engine back!!

I went to get an inspection lamp from the lock up my c is in because a mates car has seriously died! When i got into the lock ups, there were two cars that I have never seen before with about 6 or 7 neds in. it was pitch black, they were speaking from one car to another. Not thinking, i opened my lockup and got my lamp, locked up and drove away. I am now sitting up really worried that they were casing the place, and i just let them see what lockup to target! The c is going nowhere with half an engine, but the boot has loads in it inc. a full ss exhaust. got there reg's - like that will actaully help if something does happen.

i think you are right about the order! apparently there are very few s1's left......and are valued over £1m each!

I have attached diagrams......sort of useful! I hope not.......i'm waiting for flexi's before i bleed.......from replacing most components in brake system except ABS unit, i dont think the bleeding will be different......but then, i aint done it yet!! Inside the car, above the pedals close to where the steering column goes through the floor is the uv joint. you might have to unbolt the rack from the subframe to get the new boot on.

if you paid someone to put an exhaust on, why are they not checking what the noise they've made is? Even if it is not the exhuast they should be willing to show that to you. do you know if your engine mounts are ok?

The S1 is the rally car your ur quattro was based on!!! Suppose, if money was a slight object the UR quattro would do :roll: . My mate has a g plate 10v 2.1 coupe even it sounds sweet. One of the highlights for me this summer was the sound of the dubwieser mk1 with the 20vt engine (not that 4 cylinder thing.....the proper one!!) at inters.

If money was no object, I wood tke an S1 over a C. The s2 is a bit more boring to look at. The s1 is the god of the eighties, if you accept it as that then it is one of the best cars to look at in the world. ......and that noise....... or would you rather 2p cash??

4 elbows, 5 wrists and variable length fingers. As far a i can remember, there are five, I got them out using a small socket (1/8 drive), the bolts should not be that tight. there is nothing enjoyable about the job. When I was taking my exhaust manifold of 3 weeks ago, some of the studs snapped. This is apparently quite common. Now I am waiting to get my de-studded head back............

it seems nitrox is a generic term for any nitrogen oxygen mix. Air is nitrox. you need to specify a ratio. run out of things to say.

They still do the recall - had my old '84 golf done about 18months ago - but if the matrix is already leaking they replace that too - the new matrix has the valves built in so your one may actualy have been done!

get a 16vmk2 haynes manual. I think the k-jet management is more tempremental than a girl on the blob. If there is one sender wih a poor connection then thats it all over. Might as well get a taxi. Care to be a little more specific?? The timming as I can remember is - altenator pulley has a mark which lines up with arrow on lower cambelt cover. The cam shaft pully has one punched tooth but I really cant remember what it lines up to - it is either the top of the head or a mark on the tin gard for the cam belt - will have a look at my golf when someone zips up the heavens.

I haven't dealt with them at all, and dont need to - I was just being nosey!! :lol:
