if you was to change to a 288m rear solid disc would you then need new carriers for the calipers? or is there something else that is needed? also what model golf are the calipers from? i went up GSF today to try and get some but there are loads of different models of the Mk4 golf. which model do the calipers come off?

i have just spent the past 3 hours looking through old threads about fitting mk4 calipers to my VR6 but stil have a few queries as far as i can tell they are a straight swap. im probably going to buy them new from GSF. im also aware that i need to get a goodridge hose conversion set for them what about discs? i want to do the 288 conversion. but which discs do i need? do vented discs fit with the mk4 calipers or do they have to be solid? if im fitting 288mm discs will i need new mounting brackets?if so where do you get them? sorry for lots of questions its hard to try and arrange answers from loads of different threads

im reviving old threads to try and find answers  can i just change the rear calipers on my VR6 for Mk4 golf ones or do they require additional work. is it just a matter of unbolt and bolt new ones on?

i phoned around today to try and find a supplier of a rear brace for my VR6. no one had any or is going to any time soon. i tried trimsport, g-werks and demontweeks. NS tuning said they might but i have gotta phone back tomorrow

so now the rear axel is completely stripped and sprayed. i have just got to wait for the spray to cure properly i have had to cut the heads off 3 bolts now :( - im finding new muscles  now onto the front the c is all jacked up. removed the front brakes earlier. there is some more rust on some of the components im not changing so i have got more cleaning/spraying to do
-
yep adz it is completely standard the car is under cover at the moment neil so i will prob do lacquer peel last, just in case i damage the paintwork while im working some more progress pics: i got the rear axel off the other day(i had to cut one of the bolts off) there wasnt a lot of rust but i treated what was there. i sanded it down and gave it a spray of a rust protection paint. i sprayed the axel black today. im waiting for my my new bushes to turn up now so i can fit it again and move on with the suspension two of the bolts holding on the rear brakes are siezed. thats my job for tomorrow

hello all, im recently new to the forum and to Corrado ownership i just thought i would start a thread on the life of my VR6 (which is at this moment in time nameless) i brought her about a month ago after seeing the ad on ebay. i went up to see her and it was love at first sight. she is in great condition she is a 94' with 78778 miles on the clock and a full service history these are the pics i got off ebay, i have yet to take some of my own but i will do soon she has her faults, heater fan not working(i have a new one just need to fit it) slight lacquer peel on some panels(not sure what to do yet) and a misty front fog light but other than that all electrics work spot on and she has no rust! i have plans for her but nothing major. YET  suspension upgrade first on my list

other things to consider when lowering the corrado!!
joinerboy replied to Chris Langdon's topic in Drivetrain
i always thought that if you mixed new parts with old then you are putting more stress on the older parts. thats my opinion but i dont know anything about mechanics  anyway my corrado is 14 years old so if your talking about parts lasting 12 years, mine is overdue for replacement bits im holding on to my vr6 for as long as possible, better to do job once properly rather than having to do it again later -
have you fitted the rear anti roll bar yet? i have got a KW rear bar and i havent got a clue where it goes  any pics would be great
-
so are the mk4 golf rear calipers better than the standard vr6 corrado ones? from what i can find they are only a couple of quid cheaper or is it just preference to change them?
-
i have ordered some AP racing(didnt want red) 4 pot calipers for the front of my vr6. they should be coming new year i had a thought though. can you get 4 pot calipers for the rear? i quite fancy big vented disks and calipers all round. at the moment i might just refurb the rears but i would like to get new stuff. the obviously would need to have the handbrake on them im not sure what is available or if it is possible. any help?
-
thanks for the advice toad.it is now problem solved. after large helpings of dinner and some needless panicking i returned to the workshop with my bro and cut the end of the bolt off. the axel then came off a treat and was in pretty good condition which cheered me up soz for crap pic took it quick with my phone. que hours of sanding and some rust treatment. tomorrow comes the spraying thread can be closed if mods want

im am in the process of changing the suspension on my corrado vr6. im doing bushes at the same time.heres where the problem starts. im in the process of removing the rear axel(following the directions in the knowledge section) but have hit a problem this is in the way of the bolt coming off. there are 2 hex bolts holding it in place but they wont budge the guide says 'saw it off', could anybody elaborate for me. what do i do? i would like to get job finished before i go back to work

i like alot :D what are the wheels?

have you got any part numbers for those chris? also can i have the TPS website so i can have a look around cheers -
Cheers BigTartanJudge i will give badger5 a call tomorrow. i assume that the calipers are the same. if the only difference is disks without grooves then i think i can live with that. i can always upgrade them if i feel the need later how are you getting on Vag Hag with you quest for brembo 4 pots?
-
has anyone ever used Godspeed Motorsport before? i have been looking around for a brembo 4 pot kit and found his website. a bit pricey at £1000 for a complete set, or is that reasonable?
-
thanks JMC i tried compomotive direct today(i never thought of doing that) £650 for the alloys only. so that is saving me 177 quid already.
