Whilst the cable is on its way, was thinking about how to change it. Is it easy enough or do i need some special tools/ways to change it. or just simply old one out new one in. Cheers

Sounds like a deal to me. do you want to PM me on where you would like the money to be sent. i would prefer bank transfer as its more accesable for me. PP is OK too but might not be able to send it straight away.

Hello, my next jobby is to change the cable, but before doing this i wanted to see if there is anything i need to replace whilst im there? any sort of springs, bushes, pedal? Just wouldnt like to chage it and then have to go back and do any niggly bits. Thaks for looking.

Got an update now. Ive replaced the old TB including microswitch and theres a slight difference. It still over revvs and idles around 1.5K but not as aggressive as before. i think the accelerator cable is a bit shoddy too so i will get round to replacing this. Failing that ive still the issue of it not wanting to idle at all until its warm and my temp gauge only hitting 75 when the oil is at 100. Anymore ideas please

Hello, I will change the TB and take it from there. Hoping not having to go any further. Need it to run right for Alton Towers in 2 weeks. Regarding the "holy" pipe, i dont think its the one you have described. From memory it looks like it takes an air feed from the bottom of the airbox and runs in the same direction as the main ones you can see leading to the TB. Looks kinda like a smaller version of an extractor you would have on the back of your tumble dryer or Boiler. Lokks like it had metal coils in it. Not sure if this would have any effect on the running.

Hi, Not managed to get pics of the bay up yet as my laptop is an :epicfail: Ive managed to have a play around with the throttle, cable, screw and managed to get a good idle by opening the screw on the body. This was fine until the engine was switched off and on and it idled at 3K - 4K. The lever is not returning to the switch and im not sure the switch is doing its job either. Also i noticed a hole in a pipe, its under the one that comes off the top of the air box. Kind if fully circular and dissapears somewhere below, quite a big pipe too. Would this have an effect on the idle? Im going to replace the switch but how do i get the lever to return? ive moved the switch as close as possible and moved the clip on the cable to release a little tension but still no luck.

Thanks David I will get a pic of the bay up tomorrow. As for the microswitch when i maually use the throttebody and return it to the switch i still get the same problems. The ISV is working as ive just replaced the last one whilst trying to find out these problems. It vibrates ect when the ignition is on. Im hpoing the idle issue is related to the temp issue. Also i had a new distributor fitted and the engine CO setup ect a week or so ago and it helped ever so slightly in a sense of when its cutting out somtimes it idles and struggles a lot at 500rmp instead of just dying on me. Cant afford to take it to a garage again so any ideas ect would be very gratefull Thanks

Hi People I had a post going about current issues with the C. Managed to get a few things cleared up. But im still having issues with temp and idle. Temp 1st then. My gauge shows no higher than 75 - 80 degree, ive searched where the senders are for these but the explinations baffle me, has anyone got a diagram/picture of the senders so i can check them, and should they all be earthed? if so all in the same place? 2nd is the Idle. When i start in the morn it fails to idle, i can go few hundred yards, turn it off, start it again, the revs climb to 3K then drop back down to 1.5K. I wouldnt imagine there is an air leak as it wouldnt idle at all if there was. Anyone experienced this or have the know how? Thanks

Hi, no issues with the key turning or lock, he said he had to position the wires and the barell so the car will start. I also unclipped my headunit yesterday and the music just kept playing.i presume somethings nakered. Must just be the switch.
-
Hi Apologies if this is in the incorrect section. I had some work done recently and they had issues with the ignition barell. They said it seemed to have dropped and the switch being foobarred. Does this mean i need a new barell or switch. Also when its replaced will i work when put back as it was before the garage started on it?

Im running a 1.8 16V. I bought a 2nd hand coilover setup. Fitted fine -
I thought that myself but i need it for tomoz, took it garage and its still not firing up, the plugs keep getting drowned in fuel and nothings happening, they mentioned no compression and a few other things. Had to leave it there, gutted public transport tomoz.

Hi, ive had to buy a new distruibutor. Not sure if this was the problem but it was corroded and fell to pieces in my hand. What i need to know it how to fit it. My friend mentioned it needs to be timed professionally. I have no tools for this and prob wont know how to do it. Ive called my local injection centre and they quoted £45 - £50 to fit and setup. Does this sound about OK for the price?

I think its the clip in the distributor. Do i need a new clip or full distributor? Goin GFS in half hour

Im not sure on which one you have mentioned. Its blue, its pretty much in your face when you look in the bay. Similar higght to the dixxy cap and nearest the front of the bay. Hpoing im making sense. Is this the blue temp sender? As mentioned before the temp gauge doesnt rise above 75'c. Should it have current flowing through each switch/senders when the ignition is on?
-
Ive checked the ISV and it vibrates when the ignition is on, i managed to get a tester for the electrics and no power was coming from the blue switch nearest the crank breather pipe. Should this have power when the ignition is on?

OK, so ive changed the ISV and its still ebing similar but not as bad, The throttle still doesnt touch the micro swtich when released and moved the switch as far over a possible. What im trying to find out is, could this new (2nd hand) ISV need re-setting in any way or time to change toi the eingine?? Obviously i could be making no sense here. Coukld the ISV still be the issue? Also can the microswitches fail and need replacing? Any other ideas or advise is welcome.

OK, so far i have cleaned the TB out and the ISV. The butterflies move freely and doesnt stick, this has been tried off the car, can i try it with the air hoses off? Also i think i found a loose hose coming off the crank breather which has stopped it stalling, now it just idles at 1.5K and hangs on to the revs for dear life before retuning to 1.5k. Lastly i have moved the micro switch towards the throttle body lever, which it somtimes fails to reurn to. From what i have read it sounds like the ISV isnt working properly, any other ideas? Thanks

Just to double check, the little switch should be touching the TB lever when sat at idle?
-
Hi, thanks for your replies, firstly where do i get a new spring from? also how do i adjust the throttle cable? Thanks
-
Hi, ive had a look this morning and the throtte body lever doesnt shut to the little microwitch. Bout half a cm gap. do you know how to fix this?
-
Thanks David, i will check this tomorrow, im thinking more of thermostat issue, as yesterday after i had drove approx 30 miles it stopped stalling and idled as normal. If this was an air leak surly it wouldnt self fix? I will update as it goes on
