What is this noise? Piston slap? (VR6) - maybe not the end of the world..
Dox replied to Jim's topic in Engine Bay
Why not let Vince have a listen and check oil pressure is within spec? Are youstill running it in on cheap oil or are you on semi or synthetic? -
His previous posts are about a VR6. If its mixing coolant and oil then its worth checking the heat exchanger first before condeming the head and block

What type of roof does the garage have? If its corrugated then there's usually air gaps for ventillation where the ridge meets the roof panels or where the roof meets the sides at the eves. I'm sure you could lengthen the 2 wires?

What about a solar charger?
-
Then its an ignition live issue (permenant live and earth must be OK otherwise you'd need to retune the stations) or the facia connections themselves
-
Does the radio retain the stored stations or do you have to retune each time?

Don't build what you can buy, these cars have low value anyway so a bitsa will be worth sod all when the time comes to sell it. Just my opinion.

Would the brace bar swap end for end and give clearance for the master cylinder reservoir then relocate the coolant reservoir?

Does anyone know what purpose the pedal sensor has? Is it a simple on off switch or does it have a variable rate?
-
If you're using the standards ABS you're stuck with the standard one due to the pedal sensor

Do you know an engineer or machine shop that could machine them for you?

You'll need a calliper wind back tool too if you don't have one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-NEW-BRAKE-CALIPER-PISTON-REWIND-WIND-BACK-TOOL-KIT-22-34-PIECES-SET-/360643337387?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item53f8049cab I've used the above on MK4, Corrado and T5 so far and its worked well - you may find the same kit cheaper if you search ebay

I have a 24mm M/C but don't want to change the servo due to its position sensor being needed for the ABS, I'd like shorter pedal travel if possible which will give better position for foot / lower leg to apply more pressure that's needed. My T5 has just had new brakes all around and its like throwing an anchor out of the back, compare this with the C and its night and day different. I want to keep it standard looking with speedos. I have a 288mm set up waiting in the wings too. The C is insured for commuting this year so will get more use than in previous years forcing me to sort the niggles I've put up with since I bought it (ABS light woes, occasional stalling etc ie typical C traits).

I beleive Fiat coupe non turbo 284mm disks are what you need for 4 stud fitment of 288mm calipers and carriers. I've not done this myself, just read it on CGTi forum I've searched ECP for the disks and I put this up so you can use it for the dimensions for comparrison, I've not done the conversion so accept no responsibillity if they are wrong and ECP wont allow you to return them. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Fiat_Coupe_2.0_1998/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-friction/brake-disc/?104580078&1&a1e6673ce77b12fb76bda6842a8bd21c7e49110c&000027
