  1. I'm sure if you looked on the vortex you'd find the answer? I only know of one MK4 12V 2wd and that is Roger Moores Bamberg VR6
  2. You could of course upgrade to USA MK4 spec management including the variable inlet manifold (cheap schrick) to build something unique? I think the engine code is AFP if you want to look into it?
  3. What's the engine code? It would be worth checking the cam sensor sprocket is compatible as the USA got a MK4 12V 2.8 VR6 2WD and your engine appears to be from May 99?
  4. Not many commute daily in cars 40+ years old? There is a huge industry supplying parts, rebuilding them and keeping them on the road - all generating revenue / VAT, so removing excise duty and MOT (less than £2 goes to the government elected body - the majority goes to the testing station / garage) wont significantly reduce the governments funds too much? Being MOT exempt at 40 years old also means they can tighten standards to the point an old drum braked cars couldn't obtain even when they were in production.
  5. It sounds like one cam has jumped a couple of teeth and valves have kissed the pistons - the whole bank has no compression. If your pistons are declared OK by a machine shop you could bore a 2.8 block and fit them with new rings?

  9. I was going to place a lump of blu tac on the offending corner, put a blob of emulsion on that then gently lower the bonnet onto the blu tac to mark the under bonnet frame work to show exactly where to cut.
  10. As you're cutting the underside you could always run a hosepipe or place dampened cloth above to prevent heat blistering the paintwork on the outside of the bonnet.
  11. I’ve got the “vehicle smart” app and it’s great for searches / MOT info etc
  12. 4 pot bellhousing won’t fit a 6 pot
  13. V5 boxes are 5 speed, both 10v and 20v
  14. They should be the same? The USA 2.8s get the same box with a 16V or G60 3.65? diff, that is said to bring our 2.9s alive and a great mod. HotGolf on CGTi now trades as Gas and Gears and has a good reputation for gearbox mods and builds. https://www.facebook.com/gasngears/
  15. You will get a crank position sensor code if you scan the car with the engine not running even if its perfect. A faulty crank sensor will give the symptoms of no spark or fuel injected
  16. The easiest thing to do is try a spare key. Make sure there's only one car key near the ignition barrel as the immobiliser can read the wrong key if they are on the same ring. Ignition switches are a common failure too
  17. Could it be due to the privacy settings / law that came to effect a month or so ago?
  18. Pretty sure I saw you drive through Nantwich today?
  19. Tapatalk has spoilt to pic hosting. If you pm email address I can send images, but they’re 15 year old rusty brakes tbh. Need blasting if they’re going behind nice wheels. All 312s need 6mm spacers due to the offset of the mk4 disks. For anyone collecting I have new boxed pagid disks and pads
  20. As above, removed 8 years ago from a 20V V5 Toledo 2WD and garage stored. Calipers and carriers. Hub assys Back plates axle fanges cut off the Toledo axle. £80 collected 10 mins J16 M6 These are heavy items and will need to be posted as two separate packages, option on a pair of lightly used grooved rear disks. Pics via email on request due to tapatalk issues
  21. 312mm front calipers and carriers, £45 shipped No warranty implied or given on used brakes, its up to the buyer to assess there condition to use as is, to rebuild or use as core units for exchange. £30 collected, 10 mins J16 M6
  22. Could the car have been fitted with a 2.8 AAA ecu (instead os an ABV)? I'm sure that's where it would get such info from?
