Mine was £30 used bought off this forum 5 years ago. I believe the wiring will just reach a substitute pump without removing the old one for testing before swapping it out
-
Swapping the pump got rid of my inlet / outlet valve faults. I had 7 faults and I suspect it was down to a power supply issue within the pump

Mine came with connectors already fitted, plug and play. Their connectors don't lock together too well with the originals and the spade connectors don't lock into their housings too well, they're a bit "Chineeseum" in concept / execution, but work with a little help when fitting and have been fine in operation ever since.

Does the new loom come with connectors that fit to the lamp connector? Check the pin has not pushed back out of the new harness plug that connects to the lamp connector as that's what mine did on my Rayne loom.

Check the earth from the battery to the gearbox / engine block is intact, also the thick wire to the starter is also intact. Tap the starter body with a hammer too see if you have a bad segment in the starter or the starter is jammed

I had a similar issue with my golf losing vacuum with the ignition off, the mani to servo pipe had split. I opened all the abs pump connections in turn to bleed the pump itself using a pressure bleeder, the two man method would also work. You could also wedge the pedal down overnight before rebleeding, some say it helps to move stubborn trapped air.

Googled the code and this came up. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/00537 One of my cars used to lose power on left turns on a quarter tank or less, the pump mounts inside the swirl pot inside the tank had disintegrated allowing the pump to suck in air

2.0sdi mk5 golf starting problems, any suggestions
Dox replied to Aaron10's topic in General Car Chat
Diesels need a good battery and a fast cranking speed when cold to create heat in a compression ignition engine. With the pump being on the engine and sucking fuel via the fuel lines back to the tank if the pipe work or filter have a leak air enters the fuel line and fuel drains back to the tank giving long cranking the next time you try to start -
My mrs scirocco is fine, my daily’s are mk4 on h and r suspension and a 225 tt mk1 totally standard, I wouldn’t say the Rocco was a poor drive

Plenty of classic race / rally cars are retro fitted, controllers are now adjustable etc. A 5% reduction losses from idle to rev limit on a normally aspirated car is worth while and comparable to an exhaust mild cams etc If you already have a well sorted engine - 220BHP or so and reclaim 5% from idle to red line its a worthwhile improvement?

What about fitting a MK2 Golf quick rack with a EPAS column from say a Corsa, then you could delete the PAS hydraulics from the engine bay, removing the belt driven pump would give a small power and economy gain too. Lots of non PAS classics have EPAS retro fitted. http://litesteer.com/products/technical-details/ http://www.easysteer.co.uk/ http://clubgti.com/showthread.php?271159-Mk2-golf-quick-racks-need-19-names

Super loud popping/clunking from front passenger wheel area

You could swap the struts side to side to see if the noise moves too? -
I think the MK4 will have a freewheeling pulley and an extra rib? Count the ribs on your crank pulley and compare?
-
Does it have the same number of ribs on the pulley? Don’t dispose of your old one until you’re sure you don’t need to swap the pulleys over
