White2505, will this work with a jump lead?
-
Hmmm, this is precisely the sort of thing that has made me sell before... Rocker cover gasket (x2), dodgy rear callipers, oil leak, engine mount, suspension and now this, all in the first few weeks of ownership. The only thing I'd budgeted for was the suspension. I can't enjoy the car at the mo' The car seemed so good when I looked at it.

White2505, no clicking and everything else seems in order :? Jim, thanks mate. Didn't work, unfortunately :( bcstudent, how do I do that? Where's the starter solenoid? Thanks!

WD40 and hairdryer for an hour, and still nothing :(
-
Just changed the coolant and fan switch. Went to start the car- absolutely nothing :( All the lights come on as normal and the fuel pump primes, but that's it. It doesn't even turn over. Never had a prob starting it before. I'm guessing that I maybe splashed something electrical e.g. alternator, so I've got a hairdryer going under the bonnet. Any ideas? Cheers

Cheers chaps. Yeh, think I'll give Stealth a call. It's a bit of a journey though, so a bit of a PITA! Any ideas about the other leak from under the plastic cambelt cowling?
-
Have noticed a few oil spots on the garage floor under the driver's side of the engine. Had a look underneath, and that side of the engine is very gunked up. Looks like it's been leaking for a while. It appears to be coming from the area around the bottom of the cambelt cowling. Not a major leak, as the oil level stays pretty constant. Any idea what this would be coming from? Some sort of seal? Easy/cheap fix? Also had my rocker cover gasket done at Stealth recently, but it still seems to be weeping a little in plug 2. Thought this may just be residue from before, but I've wiped it away and it comes back. Any ideas? Cheers!

Just looked on Eurocarparts and they're in stock @ £83.99
-
Hi mate, Have you tried http://www.vwspares.co.uk and http://www.eurocarparts.com ? Where in Bristol are you?
-
Ditch the cone! They may sound great, but defo rob you of power. Get a BMC (check out the group buy going on at the mo  or just the normal airbox with a panel filter. You can remove the snorkel from the airbox too, which makes a nice sound. You'll notice quite a difference. Glad it all seems to be sorted now mate :)

Here's the little bugger! Think I might do a Wiki guide for 'Piranha removal'
-
Looks good, Dazzy. Think the M3 tails really suit red Cs 8)
-
That's looking lovely 8) The rear lights will make it look pretty much perfect.
-
Don't go calling Stealth rude words on here- you'll get lynched!

Chrome script badges are very difficult to find now. Just keep your eyes peeled. I'm after one too... VW still do the VR6 ones and the primed script badge, ready for coding.
-
Thanks for your suggestions, guys :) Reeesult! Checked the linkages and found that the siren from my crappy old Piranha alarm had come off it's bracket and fallen into the linkages. Got it all out and secured it, and now have a nice, smooth change again 8) I'm quite relieved!

Clutch seems OK. Haven't checked the circlip yet, bit the lever isn't sloppy and always returns to the middle so I assume it's intact. I'll check later though, just to be sure!

On the way to work had to pull over 'cos I couldn't get the car out of third! After a bit of persuasion managed to get it to neutral. Just about managed to get to work, but all gears felt very dodgy and it stuck several times. Again, third was the worst. Could it need new oil or adjusting? Or is it knackered? Any ideas? Normally, the gears very occasionally crunch in first, but are general very slick. Have tried the search, but nothing conclusive. Cheers!

Looks sooo good! Welcome back.

Voted! 4% and climbing...

Would think you won't be paying more than £3.5 K for a low mileage 16v.

Southam, near Warwick.

There's a 'changes' section on the V5 but not sure if that's enough. Give them a call, only way to be sure.
-
Is that the one in Stonehouse? Take it to Stealth  Defo worth the hours drive!

Let the car warm up on idle. Unplug the MAF. If the car dies or the revs drop and it drives badly, your MAF is OK. If it just carries on as normal, the ECU has adjusted to work with the knackered MAF. Maybe it's also worth checking the throttle position sensor too. Try resetting the ECU too. Should be plenty on all this if you use the search. Hope this helps, and you get it sorted! Keep us posted.
