Im going to attempt re-furbing a pair of wishbones and re-bushing them... I've ordered my bushes http://www.fourseasontuning.com/?product=308# I've heard good things about the rear bush, but not so much clarification on the front, will it fit?! :confused4: When I've de-rusted the control arms, what should I coat them with? Anti-rust primer I guess, and then a few coats of normal paint? Would u paint them 1st then press the bushes in? Or vice versa? Many thanks :salute:
-
Im gonna do some wishbones soon... Was thinking of either blasting them or at work we have a wire-brush wheel on a disc grinder-type stand...what d'ya reckon? Was wondering when it comes to painting, do I paint before I put the bushes in? Sorry for thread-jacking John-M
-
Thanks :D Just trying to not let it get me down lol, otherwise I'll start crying!! Thanks man, tbh the only defect with the current bumper was a slight scuff on the O/S lower corner. Other than that there is very little chipping etc, bit gutted really! Lookin' forward to having a fresh bumper on now tho after this

Yeh I know what u mean guys, its the reason I love and bought myself a Corrado! I love the square front end. It's just recently I've opened my eyes to the smoothed look, and thought well If im replacing a bumper then the time could be now to do it?? But I've made my mind up - new standard bumper on for now. When time and cash flow affords, I'll get a couple of bumpers and have a dabble at making me a smoothed bumper so I can switch between the 2 depending on moods/shows etc :D ianVR6, thank you so much for that, seamless!! Any chance of doing the other one? :norty:  :norty:

So it looks like how g60greeny has done his  DSC00436.jpg[/attachment:nwbpvnhq]

Hi guys, need to get a new bumper and sprayed, wondering if smoothing it may be the way forward but would quite like to see what it would look like... So if anyone's got the skills in photoshop could u please: Smooth out the front number plate recess, and Move the number plate so it looks mounted to the lower bumper grill, in the centre and to the N/S please Thanks for any help! :salute: 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfDSC01697.JPG[/attachment:1srpeii6] DSC01704.JPG[/attachment:1srpeii6]

Dunno man the link said "We could not determine which forum this topic is in" Yeh Tim's well into his detailing. Tim Fok his name is, slight oriental look about him! Sweet just gotta locate myself a nice bumper and Im off then! £200 worse off that is  Gotta laugh tho, otherwise id cry!

Caerleon he is, went upto him (well, one of his employees Jon Trewey) and seemed ok. My mate Tim (one with the black Polo) has a had a bit of work up there incl smoothed bumpers etc and they seem to know their stuff and friendly at the same time. Think Im gonna take it there coz I think he'd put a bit of love into the work rather than 'just another job'
-
Cheers man, Im just gonna have it re-fabricated (bent back out lol) U ever use Alan Dixon's body repairs Kempy?
-
Got a couple of quotes today... For spraying the bumper and bending back the slam panel, the quotes I had were £150-£160. This sound about right?

Oh dear. If u need to use a laptop in the car, can u not just sit in the passenger seat with it on ur LAP? Lol @ the last 2 pix on that advert tho, and this customer review: "This has been a total lifesaver. It allows me to prop my sheet music against the wheel, allowing me to play the guitar with both hands while driving. "

 Yeh I was pleased that the badge didn't get hurt :D Thanks man, appreciate everyone's comments. Maybe located a bumper, gonna pop down the bodyshop tomoz and see what the story is! Hopefully get it fixed soon :D
-
 Yeh that's what I thought. Even If I find the culprit, if they haven't bothered to let me know about the damage then I imagine wherever the vehicle is they've made an attempt to remove all evidence. :( Just to clarify - do I need a late spec slam panel? Or are they all the same? :confused4:
-
Soul destroyed mate :( More depressed than angry atm lol.
-
Thanks dude - I've been up and down the street about 10times this morning already inspecting all the cars  No luck yet Im afraid. Yeh I know someone who knows someone who does a lot of VW work, so I'll get on the phone in a bit. Thanks man what colour is the bumper, not dragon green i take it?
-
Ok thanks man. Gonna be a long time waiting for the same colour tho dontcha reckon? I'll put a wanted post up and see what happens. What kinda price am I lookin at for a bumper and slam panel if u know? Really can't afford this right now :( The damage to the slam panel isn't great at all, but if I can locate a good condition one i guess thats the best option?

Can u believe my frustration/anger/dissapointment (u get the picture!!) when I went out to the car this morning to take me mum down the train station... :bad-words: Corrado92.pdfIMG_0165.JPG[/attachment:2q3px6cl] passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfIMG_0166.JPG[/attachment:2q3px6cl] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfIMG_0167.JPG[/attachment:2q3px6cl] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfIMG_0168.JPG[/attachment:2q3px6cl] IMG_0169.JPG[/attachment:2q3px6cl] :bad-words: :mad2: :pale: :censored: It seems to me that someone must've been turning around in my street (which is awkward to do sometimes), and has plowed into my bumper and then fecked off!! :bad-words: All I can say about this is Im soul-destroyed. So...seeing as I have no idea really about cars, I was hoping for some advice please! I think obviously I need a new bumper, its a '94 VR6, so this just means I need a late bumper right? The indicators/fogs are ok (both fogs were cracked before  ) So is it a case of getting another bumper in my colour code (how often would that happen lol), or getting a bumper and spraying it? Would I have it sprayed the colour code seperate and then bolt it on, or have it blended? :confused4: U can see from the 1st pic that the bumper has slightly twisted, is this gonna affect the mounting of it would u reckon? From what I can tell it wasn't a high-speed collision, but someone reversing or going forward slowly but surely into my car :bad-words: Another worry of mine is the last 2 pix - the colour coded bit under the grill and badge, is slightly bent. Is this part of the chassis itself and need fabricating back to original shape and then painting? :confused4: Thanks for all advice, as u can tell this hasn't started my wknd off to a good start :(

Sounds like maybe the spoiler control module has been disconnected? Im no expert tho, lol  My VR's spoiler went down automatically, but not up, and it worked both ways with the manual switch. I changed the module and it solved it. Dunno if its worth investigating?

Urgent help, Garage has snapped locking wheel nut adaptor
V-Dubstar replied to adamsimmons's topic in Drivetrain
If it's the garages mistake, does that not mean any loss/damages should come back to them? If u can't find anywhere mate, and u need a big drill bit to drill it out, let me know by Friday coz I work in a machine shop and we have plenty - and Im in Chepstow. Hope u get it sorted without having to go down this route tho!! -
KW's FTW!! :D

Yeh Im feelin' a little cold gettin' into my 'rado at 6.15am every morning, so I just flick the heated seat switch on... sorry couldn't resist :D
-
