Agreed. I only want genuine VAG parts really. How much did u pay for ur control arms Pat_McCrotch and where from please buddy?
-
Does a mk2 Golf rear badge fit??
-
Oh lol, thanks. What about the front VR6 badge, do u know? I imagine the rear would be the same..?
-
Does anyone know if a rear VW badge from a mk3 will fit a 'rado??
-
:luvlove: Were these VW parts yeh?? Where from? I just got off the phone from my local stealer, who said they'd be £98.43 + VAT each!!!! :confused4: And ARB links would be £34.09+ each!
-
Ok brilliant thanks! Literally just got off the phone from my local stealer - Lower control arm + bushes - £98.43 + VAT each Balljoints - £23.73 + VAT each ARB Links - £34.09 + VAT each Seems a bit high for the wishbones...does that sound correct??!
-
You mean rear as in rear of the car or rear bush? :confused4: it's ok, think Im gonna buy new control arms w/bushes straight from VW. The underside of my car is fairly rotten from being stood around so long (its only done 53k, in the last 6yrs its covered about 10k if that lol!) So im gonna buy new ball joints, control arms /bushes, and new ARB links methinks
-
Yeh I got them on my favourites, just not sure of the quality for suspension parts. Maybe I'll have to save up and go to the stealers...
-
Are Febi good??
-
Ok put some WD40 in the top mounts (as far as I could get to, anyway) let it soak in for 10mins, then tried again but to no avail. Got under the car Kev to have a look at the wishbones, the N/S bush is moving loads, and now Ive seen it the sound could possibly be coming from there! I think I'll buy some new bushes for both sides, get some new wishbones and ball joints at the same time while Im there. Any recommendations of places to get parts? Obviously the stealers but do anywhere else make good solid parts? Is it one bush per side? Again, many thanks!
-
I think that's whats happening. Im gonna take the caps off this evening and spray some lube in, what do u reckon? WD40 to see if it eases the problem? Thing is the noise was there before I had coilovers put on.
-
Sorry didn't think - its a '94 VR6 Oh ok, i'll have a deeper listen and see if its not coming from the bottom too...Im not 100% sure at all!! Just goin on what others have told me... :( I shouldn't have to replace them If they'd been replaced 2months ago, would i?!
-
No not yet...I've only had the car since April... The wishbone bushes, are they at the bottom end of suspension strut? The noise is coming from the top end...?
-
So take the caps off then turn the wheel? With the engine running and my ear next to the caps when turning, you can't hear it...although you can from inside the arches and inside the car
-
Ok thanks, so taking them off with car grounded should be ok geometry wise? Do you reckon I can get in enough with some lube to see if this could be the problem? :confused4:
-
Hi all, i've had this problem a long time now. Basically when turning at low speeds, there's a horrible 'rubber creaking noise' coming from what feels to be directly in front of the steering wheel... When I had my coilovers fitted by G-Werks, I told them of this problem. I had the new suspension put on AND new top mounts. A month or 2 on and the problem is even worse! I've changed the PAS fluid. Took it to a local VW specialist and when he turned the wheel in sharp movements when stationary, with my head in the front arches, you can hear the noise distinctly, from both sides too! Yet with the bonnet open you can't hear it (probably due to the engine running?!). He reckons it will be the top mounts... I've searched the forum many times on this matter, and a few times it seems the solution has been to grease the top mounts - but wouldn't G-Werks have done this for me if they fitted new ones?? :confused4: Is there a way I can try lubricating them without taking the suspension out? If anything, to see if it eases the problem then can go about getting the suspension out and doing it properly? And what could I use, a silicone spray? Can i undo the cover things (bearing in mind im not that mechanically gifted so terminology will be a little shoddy lol) in the engine bay off, and lubricate from there? From my knowledge, will the top mount and bearing be just underneath?? If i take these cover things off, I wont affect the geommetry will I?? :confused4: And also, what is a top mount, the big rubber bush?? Many thanks!!!

Nasty lol. The scotch tape I decided to put mine on with didn't come off easily either lol. A LOT of WD40 and some strategic twisting and they came off in the end! Still, not an experience Id wanna have to go through again anytime soon

Ok....So i've been a little lame recently and haven't posted anything in a while so here's some updates! I FINALLY got my brakes sorted. So i've got new discs and pads all round, and re-furbed rear calipers thanks to Pete Griff! (sad to see his motor go too mind :( ) Ok so the front discs and pads went on a treat, cleaned up the calipers a little, but there was just a small amount of surface corrosion. The rears, well, now THAT was a different story :? Heres some pix before I took the discs/pads off stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfIMG_0070.JPG[/attachment:jt4f39q3] Corrado92.pdfIMG_0077.JPG[/attachment:jt4f39q3] Pretty dire huh? Getting the calipers off was a story in itself. One of the allen bolts rounded off almost instantly on the N/S, and both did on the O/S! So an electric drill and a couple o' drill bits later, I drilled them out. I re-tapped the holes and replaced the allens with high-tension hex-head bolts, which were again later replaced with the allen bolts I got with the calipers from Pete Griff. When they were off I spent a good couple of hours wire-brushing them in an attempt to get them looking a little better. Not to much avail however, the surface corrosion was phenomenal. And THIS is what happened when I took the pads out... passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfIMG_0079.JPG[/attachment:jt4f39q3]   Really should've changed em sooner I guess (understatement of the yr!!), but then I didn't realise they were THAT bad!! Next is a piccie of one of the bearings I replaced, you can see the colour variation in the middle of the runners, I guess that's where it's been subject to abnormal friction and heat? and its tempered the rollers?! Again, climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfIMG_0082.JPG[/attachment:jt4f39q3] And finally with the new discs and pads (but not calipers, u'll see why in a sec) 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfIMG_0084.JPG[/attachment:jt4f39q3] So, all is good right? Went for a little spin to wear the brakes in a little, and make sure there was no complications... When I got out of the car, had a quick walk around and smoke was billowing out from the N/S/R wheel!! After a little inspection, the smoke i think was mainly from the pad lube stuff (cant think what its called?!) boiling up! Basically the issue was that sides caliper was a little seized when winding back earlier, and I think the piston wasn't retracting back in properly!! So I got on the case to find some more, and got Pete Griff's Big Red re-con'd rear calipers off him! Put these bad boys on and haven't had any problems since! I changed the flexi-hoses connected to the calipers at the same time as they had seen better days (not for braided ones, cash is of very little abundance recently :( ) So that's the tale of the rear brakes, a story with ups, and (mainly) downs! But all good in the end :D Soooo yeah, gave him a clean, took a pic: IMG_0106.JPG[/attachment:jt4f39q3] Next, I was driving back from work, pulled up into the car park, and as I pressed my foot down on the clutch as I was coming to a stop, the car stalled. Instant very strong smell of petrol in the carm, shat myself, opened the bonnet to find petrol p*ssing down from the bonnet heat padding stuff. Couldn't work out where the leak was so turned the ignition on and then saw some petrol coming out from one of the fuel lines. Basically where the line must have been rubbing against a jubilee clip for the K&N. Quick trip to Halfords (Obv not in the 'rado  ) and it was sorted  Finally... On my way back from work last Weds (1st July), got pulled by the federalés... Fed - "Do you know why I've pulled you over?" Me -"No" - although I knew very well! Fed - "These plates are illegal" Me - "Oh really? They were on the car when I bought it?" Fed - "Unlucky for you mate, the law changed yesterday (30th June), the fine has gone up from £30 to £60!" Me - " :censored: " So I went and bought some new pressed plates, but completely legal ones. Dammit!! I'll get some pix up soon...(Or so i say lol) :salute:

Spotted a white G60 I think, maybe a valver, parked outside Pizza Hut in Newport... Looks like he's seen better days tho... :?

Good work Toad :D Which Hosptial album are you buying?
-
Spotted a black M reg VR leaving Trowbridge in Wiltshire, heading off towards Frome! Followed for a while and waved, then realised it was a woman behind the wheel who didn't quite look like a massive Corrado nut, and probably thought I was being a bit of a pyscho! So I "pulled off" and went back whence I came :D

http://www.bbc.co.uk/glastonbury/2009/artists/specials/ Yessss maaaate! Also, this week I have been mostly venting anger by listening to the original Transplants album, love that sh*t!! :D

Well I had some 40mm shocks and springs from G-Max, and the ride was very crashy on 17's in my Mk3. The V1's are nowhere near as bad, granted im using my 15" speedies still, but the ride height is considerably lower. If Im honest, id say the ride quality is equal to how it was before, except now I have much better traction going round corners and little to no roll!! But I can't give any insight as to what they're like on bigger wheels however... Best mod Im ever gonna make on my 'rado!! :D
-
Yeh, I spent around 3 evenings reading the entire thread before i bought mine  The KW Variant's get a lot of support on this site, so I went for some V1's in the end, and absolutely love 'em! :D Hope this helps
