  1. I haven't lacquered, the matt black is the top coat. I also sprayed my Mk2 track car matt black more than 5 years ago and the paint on that is still good. Yeah it was a bit lazy, but I had my reasons! I had to use the car to get to work first thing the next morning and I new I wasn't going to be able to start spraying it until the evening, so it was a hell of a lot quicker to just whip off the masking tap at midnight that start bolting things back on. Plus, the screws for the number plate are rounded, as have a bolt on both rear lights.
  2. Looks mint! Can't say that I've ever seen that colour before, looks really smart though.
  3. Thanks mate, still want to do loads more to it. Next on the list is to change the side repeaters, all red rears and then look for a set of 17s so that I can rebuild the 15s I have on there now to 8.5" with polished rims.
  4. Your Corrado will look awesome on the new rims :) Is there much of a VW scene over in Sweden? My girlfriend is from Stockholm and I went over there last month but didn't really see any VWs. Lots of nice big Audi's though.
  5. Time for a bit of an update! After using and abusing the Rado for the best part of a year I decided the car needed a freshen up. Someone deciding to reshape my rear quarter panel when it was parked up, the whole rear arch was caved in. It was at that point that I started to decided to tidy the body and respray it. A while ago my brother and I managed to get hold of a work shop so the work could begin. Firstly there were a few rust issues to sort out on the rear arches and I removed the side mouldings. (The pics are a bit crap as they are off my phone). There was also a crease in the drivers door where my neighbour decided to use it to stop her car door flying open! Work in progress pics, removed the Corrado badge and filled in the join lines on the rear panel. Tidied up the rear arch. And sorted the dent in the door. I also pinched my bro's old 50mm inlet manifold and decided to do it in gloss black. I cleaned up the cam cover as well with silver hammerite. Quickly redone my split rims in gloss black all over, it's only a quick fix, still not sure what to go with long term. Putting the missues to good use masking up the car [:D] Her handy work. I did do a bit of work. Car all masked up and ready to spray. And the finished result. Only have crappy phone pics at the moment, will get better pictures this weekend. Still got loads more to do to it, all the little details like the lights, grill, rear panel, etc.
  6. That was me! Have to say your Corrado looked awesome as it went past, looked very composed seeing as you weren't hanging around! I was wondering if it would be someone on here! Was it matt black or were my eyes playing tricks on me? I thought the exact same thing, I was going to post asking if it was anyone on here when I spotted your post! Yeah it is matt black, your eyes weren't playing tricks on you.
  7. The headling on my sunroof has come off, and the headlining on the surround is peeling away. The sunroof panel itself is easy to do but the surround bit that slides back is going to be tricky. Is there a way of removing this from the car, or will i have to drop the headling down to get to it?

    No dash lights

    Yeah worth a check.

    No dash lights

A while ago I lost all dash lights, thats the dials and all the heater controls, etc. I've tried the fuse but thats fine, and replaced the headlight switch as I thought the dimmer might have gone, but that hasn't cured it either (although they both could have gone). Is there anything else to check?
  11. Mine on Ebay special Hottuning coilovers. Will measure the distance between arch and floor tonight.
  12. Other than Samco, the only other hoses I know of are ones sold by Rally Design http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/index.php?cPath=147_1950 And a company called SFS http://www.siliconhose.com/content.asp?inc=product&catalog=MS102. Doesn't seem to be a huge difference in price really.

    wheel spacers

I've been using 15mm spacers on my Mk2, not really found any problems with them really. There's no wheel wobble at high speed or any real adverse handling issues. I've done 3 trackdays with them without any problems, but I haven't been on track without so can't really say if their's much difference. It does tramline a little more, but thats about it really.
  14. Damn, when you posted the picture of the boot I knew it was a "cigar shaped" Thunderbird, but I was beaten to it.

    Wheel offsets

An offset of et15 is right for 9" wheels. If they were et35 they would sit too far in and catch on the suspension.
  16. Not yet, may do soon 8) Spring GTI Festival at Santa Pod at the end of the month, you should try it out there.
  17. I wasn't sure if they'd suit it or not, but when I tried one the other day it looked really smart. Probably won't be done now until April though, I've decided to get my Mk2 ready for the GTI Spring Festival (albeit with the old engine) so it's going to be another month of neglect for the poor car.
  18. Awesome car mate. Have you had it timed at all or done any quarter mile runs with it?
  19. Looks very smart, especially liking the Sat Nav.
  20. Thanks mate :) There are in need of a rebuild though as they leak air very slowly, so I'll take the opportunity to fit wider dishes, I'm thinking 8" at the front and 8.5" at the rear. While I'm rebuilding them I'll probably fit a set of these. I've got a set at home that were due to go on my track Mk2, but can't afford the tyres at the moment (225 wide R888s are £125 each!) so they are sitting around doing nothing. I fitted one without the tyre the other weekend, reckon they'll look good. Then hopefully they'll go on my track car and the rebuilt splits will go back onto the Corrado. Although I'm not entirely sure where I'll find the time or money, as I'm in the middle of building and fitting a G60 turbo into my Mk2 which I'll need to do first.
