The car underneath it is pretty good ;)
2. I have been doing some research and come across the same reviews about the 2.5, the one 1,9 seams to be the better engine all round. I do like the look of audi A4 both the avant and saloon models. Its just trying to find one with decent miles at a decent price
3. To every one who recently bough some stickers from me. They should have been posted on monday and as I was at work I gave the task to my gf. Tonight she tells me she still has them in her bag :bonk: Will get them posted myself asap. Sorry about that guys
4. Thanks guys, it certainly something I've had a good think about. Im pretty sure this wont be my last corrado, might do me some good to have some time away from a Corrado. Only thing that would keep me in a corrado at the moment was if I was offered my old valver! but I will get another one when things get better and have some time and money to spare. In the words of the terminator "I'll be back" even tho Im not going any where, I will still be on the forum, such a great place to just chat all thanks to the people on here :D
5. Fabia VRS ent bad. 6. Thanks guys i know it will be a shame to sell after all this but needs must unfortunatley. Just can't find anything I like so far defo looking for a high spec TDI. Bora, passat estates. I do like the sound of the 2.5 tdi passat but trying to find a manual at a decent price isn't easy. any one else recomend. Somethig? Dont worry jim i will still be on the forum and go to some events and local get to gethers
7. Well after much thought and deliberation I have decided to sell the corrado. I am paying 2 lots of insurance but only using one car. I'm lucky if I get to take this out more than Once a week. Its costing me money just to sit in my garage. I cant afford to run it a a daily either so that isnt an option. I love driving it but the enthusiasm for it isnt there any more plus I think its just time. I need something more economical to save me some money, so looking at getting a tdi of some description. either that or use the money from the corrado to make the golf a but of a economical monster! Will be strange not having a corrado when it sells but no doubt I will get another one in the future
8. Other | Dark burgundy pearl | Gloucestershire Price: £4000 Description: After much through and deliberation I have made the decision to sell my corrado. Its not a decision I have taken likely after all the money I have put into the car but I feel it is time to move on. I am paying insurance on two and I am only using the Corrado once a week if I'm lucky and cant afford to run it to and from work every day. Plus with a mortgage to pay and money very tight I dont really have much choice. I will be very sad to see it go but its just time to move on. So about the car. It started life as 94 VR6 in Dark burgundy pearl. It currently has 162k on it but dont let that put you off. IT has recently gone through an engine transplant at DG Autotech costing £3300 because the original VR6 engine was kaput with low compression in 3 cylinders. No expense was spared in the conversion or in general on this car and great care was taken by Graham at DG to complete the job. The engine it is running now is a 2.8 24v vr6 from a Bora 4motion, engine code AUE. When the engine was fitted it had covered 60k miles. The difference between the two engines is night and day, so much torque in all parts of the rev range. The car was recently put on a rolling road where she made 219lbft of torque. The torque comes in quick and is a very flat curve (see pic below for recent RR graph). BHP was at 199, down on standard power but I believe this is because the induction cone is right behind the radiator. Moving the battery and/or washer bottle and moving the cone into this area and enclosing it would give a much better result. Sun roof doesnt work at all but never really looked into why. Passengers window works but some times doesnt all you have to do is open the door and it works. Inside: Black leather rear humped seat in very good condition. Dark blue Porsche tombstones, half electric and in good condition. Polished rear strut brace Sony head unit 2 Fli 8 inch subs 2 Alpine 6x9's mounted in the parcel shelf, 2 JLB component speakers in the parcel shelf supports 2 component speakers in the front doors 1 Alpine amp and 1 Sony Xplod amp powers the above. The sound system is great, loads of bass and sounds amazing. only thing that needs doing to make it better is to get the two component speakers in the door pods and parcel shelf supports hooked up to an amp. Seats are very comfy and keeps you locked in place Exterior: All red rear lights Tinted head light protectors Tinted side repeaters Cades eros rims 16x7, polished lip with gold centers. 2" dish. good condition with only 1 wheels with curbing, the rest have very lights marks 5mm spacers on the front to clear the calipers Over all the body work is ok, this is the only part that lets the car down. The front bumper is the worst of it and even if you were to just have this resprayed it would make the car look so much better. No major rust at all on the body work. first signs starting to appear at the bottom of the front wheel arch (by the doors) The front arches have had some sort of touch up pen used on them and the colour match is ever so slightly off. and some bits are pealing off. She still polishes up very nicely tho despite this and looks amazing when clean. (see pics below) Break down of all the modifications and new parts since I've owned the car and that came on the car: 2.8 24v AUE engine Koni adjustable coilovers reconditions PAS rack New track rods and ends Jetex exhaust system De-cat slimline motorsport fan Remap (cant remember what sort but if you get a revo one and move the induction cone it would see a considerable increase in bhp from what I had the other day) New front wheel bearings 2 new drive shafts and CV joints. There is probably loads more I have forgotten. Over all this is a great car to drive, handles really wheel and the engine just keeps pulling and sounds very good too. the body work isnt great but dont let that put you off she still comes up a good one with a bit of time. No major rust on any part of the car and mechanically you cannot fault this car. No exspense has been spared on this car and I have spend 2 days cleaning, treating and protecting the body work It just needs some one to finish it off now and it will be amazing. I just havnt got the time or money to do this. I am in no rush to sell and have priced the car at what I think is an acceptable price for all the work and extras included with the car. Anything I've missed can probably be found in here http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?53227-Swompy-s-DBP-24v-Rolling-road-results I am looking for £4000 which includes everything mentioned above (wheels, sound system, tombstones ect) Based in Gloucestershire Thanks for looking
9. My pedal is mounted on the fire wall, it does it in the way of the fuse box cover. Only reason I can think its loosing power is because its sucking in hot air from the rad.
10. Saw a nugget on pistonheads with a 1.8t lump in it. ---------- Post added at 10:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:27 PM ---------- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4004504.htm
11. once the battery is moved I'm sure there is space to get ducting there. Even if I have something like this once the battery has been moved I think it would make a big difference http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-mk4-A3-Air-intake-heat-shield-open-cone-shield-cupra-/130720488964?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e6f8c5e04
12. I am looking into getting more air to it, my friend is giving me some ducting pipping. Only problem is the rad is right in the way as well as the battery. Only place I could get decent air flow is if I stick the ducting under the rad but then its pretty much on the floor then. So the best option is to move the battery either to the other side of the engine bay or the boot. I had a power lead for my sub attached to the battery and thats it apart from the usual stuff How much are the kits? I am really chufft with the torque graph nice and steady curve. Every one there was surprised at how quick the torque came in and how well the engine held the power. It does have a map on it but cant remember what one, but I think it only changed the throttle response and not much els. They guys there said it was running rich too. I just cant work out why its made less bhp when it has de-catted exhaust system, map (of some sort) and the induction cone. I'm starting to think the map might be the culprit now!
13. It was in Gloucester Baz. Forgot to say I got my cloths, thanks for that :D I want to move the battery but dont know how much work is involved.
14. Its a 2.8 24v from a Bora 4motion, AUE engine code. Standard bhp is 204 on these engines. and I would of thought with a re-map and de-catted exhuast system would get more power and not loose any. Torque is a 219 lbft tho so not all bad.
15. How have you guys over come the filter sitting right behind the rad? I had mine rolling roaded today and only got 199bhp and i think sucking in hot air from the rad is the main problem. So whats the best way around it
16. Im pretty gutted by the bhp tbh, might have to get it on some different rollers to see if it gives a similar result. I defo need to get the induction sorted. I have a bmc to put on but not sure if I want to or not as I think it might restrict the engine and make me loose more power. ( a skyline today did a before and after with a similar kit and lost 30bhp with it fitted!!!!!) I have some pipping I can use for a cold air feed but think I need to do a bit more than cold air ducting. Any suggestions? pic to give you an idea of the space I have to play with
17. Had the corrado rolling roaded today. with mixed results. BHP was only 199 at the flywheel which I'm very disappointed about. After chatting to the guys there they seam to think the hot air from the rad isnt helping and the manifold too. As it has the top part is from the 24v engine and the bottom part of the manifold is the standard VR6 system. Might need to sort that out! But Torque was a 219 lbft and a very nice curve to it. Blue = Torque Orange = bhp The numbers on the left are at the wheel
18. Thats strange, mine was the 2lt tho. plus it was the original test bed for the DG remap on the valvers :D
19. last time I had a full tank was for the national day and I done about 300 miles with a bit left over. most of the trip wasn't hanging around in the convoys either was a nice "pootle" but thats with the 24v engine When I had the 12v i got ruffle 300 miles from the tank ---------- Post added at 7:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:04 PM ---------- My Valver was pretty good on fuel tbh I would get about 400 miles out of my tank. It wasnt standard either, exhaust, K&N panel filter, KR cams and remap.
