Is it legal to mix directional and non-directional tyres?
Musicman replied to aclwalker's topic in Drivetrain
I'm sure it's not advisable but, AFAIK, the law will only dictate that you don't mix radial and cross-plys. Think about it: is your space saver directional? -
I had some issues with pulling to one side on my old Scirocco GTII - went to the garage, had it checked and tracking, etc. was all perfectly within tolerances. Turned out it was the tyres: when I came to replace them a short while later it all sorted itself out :?

I know sod all about Cliffords (apart from hearing unreliability seems to be a built in feature :)) Some discussions that might assist, however: http://www.no-rice.com/forum/index.php?p=vt&tid=4902 http://www.no-rice.com/forum/index.php?p=vt&tid=184 http://www.no-rice.com/forum/index.php?p=vt&tid=424 Patrick (sparkz) seems a helpful chap http://www.no-rice.com/forum/index.php?p=vt&tid=3548

At the end of the day, how much power can you realistically put through a FWD setup anyhow? -
There's no VAT on books, and I don't think they're subject to import tariffs either. :?:

FWIW, considered opinion in the Scirocco community is that the Bentley is far superior to the Haynes manual (that is available for the Rocco). So I suspect it's better that way round ;) Just haven't laid my hands on a Bentley yet...

You probably forgot to install the Ecotek valve at the same time... :D

I suspect one issue you would need to address is not falling foul of one of the Lotteries and Gaming Acts, notably the Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976. If it's purely a random draw, you might have problems in this respect. Here are the DCMS guidance notes on the subject. http://www.culture.gov.uk/gambling_and_ ... teries.htm I suspect that what you're proposing falls into none of the available categories and may be illegal, particularly given the value of the item you're raffling. I'm not a lawyer, so don't take my word on it though :) Your local council might be in a position to advise you. If there's an element of skill involved (a simple question or something like 'spot the ball') then it's a different category entirely - a 'prize competition', which is why all those stupidly simple multiple choice competitions appear on TV. P.S. I think this is how those 'Win a Porsche' draws at airports get past lottery legislation - they have a qualifying question or subsidiary skill component alongside the draw.

Been looking at your discussion on camber. Doesn't seem to worry the Beetle guys any :) http://www.cybertects.co.uk/picturepost ... W_6983.htm http://www.cybertects.co.uk/picturepost ... W_6913.htm http://www.cybertects.co.uk/picturepost ... _8967.html (then again, would you pinstripe a Corrado too? I know what you're on about ;)) -
Depends how many tickets they're selling really...

AFAIK (reading last month's Practical Classics magazine) there's no right to a free retest, it largely depends on what the garage is prepared to offer, though the DoT fee is waived if the test is done within the next working day. The problem with the new, computerised system for a lot of MOT test centres is that to certify a re-test requires all the same boxes to be ticked again on the computer screen as would be the case if you do a test from scratch, so many of them are ending their previous offers of a 'free retest'. Leaving your car with the garage to have it brought up to standard may generate enough income to offset their administration cost.

Very dark and noisy blue channel in the original with some nasty JPEG artefacts, I'm afraid :? -

Liked it so much I thought it worth a little work to sort out the colour from the street lights and straighten it up - hope that's OK :) -

Using Google Maps to solve Autotrader irritation

Fair points. I just found myself drawing circles in Photoshop trying to work out whether I could be bothered to try calling a mobile number on a bit of a flyer and thought there had to be an easier way and little things like this help keep my JavaScript skills from going completely rusty. :) -
After seeing the TT pic... As in 'something for the weekend sir?' ;)

Using Google Maps to solve Autotrader irritation
Musicman replied to Musicman's topic in General Car Chat
Ta :) I'd stick with the first URL for the time being. That's the one I'll keep updated (just did a bit of tidying up of the JavaScript code and making it all flow a bit more logically) and add other Google Maps-based ideas as and when they occur to me. The other one's liable to disappear. ;) -
Using Google Maps to solve Autotrader irritation

I've just posted a slightly updated version that does the lookups on Autotrader for you (provided you already know the exact model and price you're looking for) and opens the search results in four separate windows. Saves messing about with half the copying and pasting, at least :) http://www.cybertects.co.uk/gmaps/index-atsearch.html
