VR6 'rado as the daily, 16v 2.0 off the road, trying to sell and got a 69' beetle project. My dad has a y-reg Mondeo as a second car (part ex in a sale) which is used if (and when) the VR breaks down and comes off the road haha! Although we have a 13 plate 220 CDI AMG sport C-Class estate pool car at work which tends to spend a lot of time on my driveway so its all good! :D

Hey David, my mum recently had panels fitted; £100 deposit, paid over 10 years or something and in the end just borrowed money (from a family member) to pay it off (think it was around 7k) because the return compared to the interest each month wasn't that great. It took a while to get things sorted with the electric company also to sort out the payback for selling them the electricity etc and they originally offered a lower rate but by the time it was installed that rate changed. She complained and they offered to pay mum the interest that she would have to pay for the first year, plus a good will gesture. Ended up paying her around £400 back which was good because they obviously promised her different details to what she was actually getting. She writes down all the readings and you can see a difference, she also makes sure that things like the washing machine/dishwasher etc are used as much as possible during daylight hours as shes then off-grid which is all good. Her house isn't quite the right orientation and she has 12 panels iirc all at the front of the house and she get a fair bit, summer should be good.

Thanks David for the shelf, speakers have been fitted and its been wrapped in black acoustic fabric, looks good. Did you manage to find another shelf strap? If not does anyone have a single shelf strap that I can nab?

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...

Fitted my new BMC CDA, relined my glovebox and refitted after I had to modify it following my climatronic install and cut and covered my stealth shelf! Busy busy! -

The definitive 'Late Corrado Heater Controls' thread
eugopnosaj replied to VR6Pete's topic in Interior
Hi Rubbadubb, I have just finished my climatronic install and its a much more improved system and I'm so happy about it! I've got photos and will do a write up soon when i get the time. It's not a few hours jobby, full dash out, custom loom/splice into existing, cutting new holes in the firewall, modifying the ducting....I did mine over a couple of weeks but I had another 'rado to use in the mean time haha! You can, I think, effectively make a 'hybrid' system using the 'rado dials and cable system and the MK4 vane and blower as the control box with the flaps are identical, but don't quote me on whether they'll work together but I would imagine they would. This would solve the loom issue, ducting modifications and might be cheaper...I plan on doing AC next year but you can remove the AC unit from within the heater box and close up the hole, this would mean you wouldn't have to make a large hole in the firewall. Tony_ack did a good write up. If I get time later this even I will start my write up. It's not for the faint hearted! -

Hey mate I sent you a PM regarding my switch not working? Can you help sort something out please? It doesn't turn any of the dash lights or switch lights on.... -
Pretty sure the whole thing is smaller in width...unless you're talking about just using the dials to replace the ones in the 'rado cluster?

Tax rebate, what present should I buy the VR?
eugopnosaj replied to eugopnosaj's topic in General Car Chat
Ordered one from stealth this morning, I could have gotten it a bit cheaper probably elsewhere but thought since they will provide the adaptor as well it saves me trying to get one sorted. Should hopefully be here tomorrow or Monday :D -
David, perfect! Sounds like a plan to me. When are you free?
-
Haha no worries mate, thanks anyway.
-
Haha! Quickly chase them down and get it back!

I have a red light in my Valver and blue in my VR! I might have a spare ABS light PCB somewhere if its needed, I'll have a look later when I get home

I've got a full set of BBS RZs in 17s (not the normal RZs but the ones in this image http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/7693/dsc01584kc9.jpg) With 3 good tyres around 6mm the other around 4mm, looking for around £250. I'll upload pictures if you're interested - > My avatar shows one on my Valver.

Hey Jack, I'd rather not cut holes in a mint one...
-
Guess these are a no go mate?

As the title states I'm looking for a parcel shelf. It doesn't matter if its got holes in it as its to replace my current stealth shelf as its a bit tired and I don't want to cut up my good condition parcel shelf. Ideally in black however it doesn't matter so much as I'll be covering it anyway. Thanks

Ok so I got an unexpected tax rebate today which was a pleasant surprise, its only £220 but better than nothing! I've been getting the VR back into good condition seeing as she's been a bit unloved since I got my beetle and so far I've done a climatronic upgrade (AC to follow in the summer, I will write a thread soon!) New uprated bulbs (already got loom) Rebuilt the O/S hub following the failed CV joint, new OEM front engine mount and refurbished crossmember, along with new wishbones so slowly replacing all the perishables. I've been thinking about getting a BMC CDA as the previous owner cut up the airbox, removed the CC and added another cold air feed and I like the idea of the sound it produces and potential BHP gains. Any other ideas, obviously keeping in a good budget?

Nothing detrimental, at least nothing that had happened due to age or parts, it was down to things I'd replaced but needed a bit of fettling to just settle correctly. - N/S headlight needed adjusting (the whole front end had been off and I'd uprated the bulbs so thats understandable) - The battery needed packing underneath to prevent vertical movement : I'd cleaned a re-routed some cables which previously packed the battery up so just used some powdercoated sheets of metal cut down to fit. - Handbrake not efficient enough : I fitted a MK4 handbrake at the same time as the climatronic and ABS pump and the fixing bracket caused the cable not to fully extend so I cut down the cable at the threaded end and no worries. - O/S wishbone showing movement in the bush : The whole wishbone was replaced at the same time as I did the whole front hub, there are 2 bolts of identical length, and diameter the only difference is the colour and the thread length (black vs gold) Realised that these were the wrong way around so swapped them around and no more movement :) There were a few advisories down to the top mounts on the front suspension - these were brand new Bilsteins with Eibach springs in 2010 (by the previous owner) so not sure why they're knackered already seeing as I've done less than 15K since I bought it. And the O/S headlight beam is off slightly (again, whole front end off so just needs realigning). Last year it flew through with no advisories but I'm never going back to that garage as they failed to notice that the inner O/S CV bolts were loose!!!!! Ended up chatting with one of the young lads (18y/o) for about 15 minutes outside about cars and the VR. Your dad said I'm as bad as you having 2 of them!

Thanks to David and Graham over at John Spademan's for a prompt mot and good service :D Failed first time but nothing major, passed the retest this morning!

Hmmm, I've not seen this around Milton Keynes? Didn't the Oettinger Corrados have wooden steering wheels? I know this ISN'T one, but maybe they're trying to copy it :D :haha:

As the title states I'm after a heated seat switch. I'm currently using one from a Galaxy/etc but its not the nicest looking as its curved rather than square. Also it doesn't turn the drivers seat off fully as part of the clip internally is broken so its always on slightly even at 0. Let me know what you've got! Thanks

I have a facelift valver (92) which has the later exterior but early interior. I swapped all the interior over from a 93 which had the late interior. I don't think the cartridges are any different in terms of motor as i fitted the later motor into mine with no problems at all...
