  1. Good post. I've seen the R500 video before but didn't know about the GT2 perspective video. Totally different styles. The R500 showboat slide through Wehrseifen was a nicely done, and not the only bit of sideways action either.
  2. It is a very good upgrade, you can use the handbrake reliably on inclines and it will hold firm with ease. The caliper is a far better design. As for the "are the mk4 calipers all the same?". They aren't in my experience. I bought a pair of second hand mk4 calipers supplied with new Goodridge kit off a guy on ebay. I ordered new seal kit for BigRed on this assumption and the 38mm seals did not fit the pistons. I had to have 41mm seals to suit the pistons. The eBay seller could not confirm what car they came (think he was a breaker making up these upgrade kits). BigRed said that from some of the coding I gave them from the caliper they came from either and Octavia or Golf Estate. The 41mm seal kit worked a treat and now so do the brakes.
  3. You should be fine with that list, my G60 is, on balance, a bit more modded than that and kept on a driveway and got a fair deal. 3000 miles, low excess etc. They insured it as a classic/future classic. Only things the came on the conditions were that I am the ONLY driver. Also, as its a classic policy no calims is irrelvant to reductions, apparently! Although they still wanted to know what I had.... I ended up paying under £400 for it with Footman James. (27 when policy was taken out with IAM and 7 years No Claims)
  4. Definitely (depending on discount): VAG800M: Fast Road, Front Mount, for G60. May want: VAG970M: Fast Road, Rear Mount, for G60. VAG870M: Fast Road, Gearbox Mount, for G60. Will be looking for cheaper alternatives for the Rear and Gearbox mounts as looking in the search history shows MK2 Diesel or standards may suffice for fast road applications. Will need to find out the prices of these though to compare the value.
  5. Would be interested on this depending on prices for my G60....
  6. So, car failed MOT today on one thing: CO emissions = 8.14% (max 3.50) Anyone offer up any suggestions? The car is booked in for diagnostics on Monday, they couldn't suggest anything without it. Car is equipped with Cat as standard. One thing I did notice on the report was that it had been tested as: "Non-catalyst euipped vehicle (metered check)" rather than the previous years: "Catalyst equipped vehicle with closed loop control". Don't know what the outcome would be between the two. Ironic as was about to purchase and fit a stainless 2.5" decatted system to go with the 4-branch manifold I have in store. This itself would might carry problems come MOT time by not being fitted with a Cat, as I understand it a car registered from August 1992 onwards equipped with a Cat must be tested with one fitted. Mine was registered on 3rd August 1992, when I asked Darren at G-Werks he said it is a bit of a grey area as a classifying a car by registration date rather than production date is a bit unfair due to the time it may have been sitting on the forecourt etc??? Anyone got any suggestions? I'm going to speak to the Tester tomorrow to see if they have tested it incorrectly or not? For now I'm going to use the search....
  7. Bought mine from Homebase, not in Bristol mind but worth a try if you have one local...
  8. I had this problem with my Lupo wiper arms, have you tried swapping the Drivers over to the Passengers side? This cured it for me, no reason why it should but......??? No reason why it shouldn't for you too..... This is of course when you bought your Lupo arms you bought two Drivers side arms (as to not foul the bonnet when lifting the arms)?
  9. I don't think I'm wrong in saying that the reason you see all the older london black cabs with cardboard over the grille is to get the running temps a bit higher. Could do a similar thing over the cooler as previously mentioned.
  10. I think my G60 coolant kit (with clips) came to £215, or there abouts. Note it is in Matt Black and carries and additional 15% premium. Just phone the supplier and ask the price for what you want.........................SIMPLE!
  11. Have placed my order with some other bits to go with my upcoming chargecooler install. Amber are even going to dicount those bits too. Lee sounded really helpful on the phone and sounds as though were are going to get a good deal and discount, BUT I am only the fourth person to place my order.... From what I can gather, using a combination of Samco RRP price list and Demon Tweeks as reference, I have just cross examined my Amber order (for £314.00 inc p+p) part for part and have worked out that I would be charged £386 (not inc p+p) RRP . About 20% discount. Not bad in my book. I would urge people to put their orders in and see if this can be bumped up to at least 25%. Lee is very approachable and has a good phone manner so don't be shy....
  12. I'm hoping to put my order in today....
  13. Can't help feeling the goalposts have moved a bit too. I do need a coolant kit but at what price??? What price are they going to be deducting the 20/25/30% from? Samco retail price? Their eBay retail price? +/- VAT? Has anyone got a price without groupbuy deductions to work out a discount from? I appreciate they need our confirmed intreset logged with them but I need to know roughly from what figure I can estimate I might be paying. Suppose just log the interest and see....
  14. Call Amber Performance who the group buy is with, I'm sure they'll have a price for you... 0845 260 0015
  15. I'm ready to order now but there seems to be a few issues that I don't have the answers to yet regarding fitting other Corrado's apart from the VR6. Apparently the G60 kit is for LHD cars but will fit with a bit of modification. I've also been asked about a G60 with air conditioning. Also it seems that for the 16v 9a engine you can use the kit for the 16v Mk2 Golf. The thing is I can't guarantee any of this if Samco won't. If we can't get the guy's without a VR6 kit sorted then we don't have 10 therefore the discount will be 25%. This means that a couple more guys are out because they will only buy if there is 10 or more to get the 30% discount. Hopefully I will have definitive answers to all the above issues sorted by Friday, either way. I've contacted a few G60 owners and am commiting to the purchase. It seems as if there are 2 hoses that need to be cut shorter. I should be able to handle that. LHD to RHD shouldn't be a problem, didn't really think it would be in the first place, good to find out though.
  16. These are the threads I found: http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... 60+coolant http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... 60+coolant
  17. I know everyone on this buy so far is buying VR6 but just want a bit of advice/clarification prior to purchase for my G60. I phoned Amber to check the fitment of the G60 hoses as they are listed as LHD on their website, I obviously drive RHD. They couldn't say what the difference is. They also weirdly said Samco wouldn't clarify as they just make the hoses to the pattern they stock or are supplied with. Does anyone know for sure? I did a search on here seems some have been fitted but doesn't state what, if any, modifications are required to adpat/fit them. Any help?
  18. Yes the 25-30% discount applies. Do you want me to put your name down? Same discount applies to the clip sets as well :D I'd be silly not to really... I'm in!
  19. If they are able to offer similar discount on a "classic black" set (more expensive finish) for a G60 I would be interested. I'll have fixings as they are on offer...
  20. I had one too, just taken it off though as it didn't fit right, or as I wanted. Certainly didn't fall into place, mainly around the cabin air in-take housing. Wouldn't have a part number would you Kip? Then I can check it an see if it is the right one.... Car looks good too!
  21. I'm with Footman James on a classic policy, limited to 3000 social miles. No one else is insured to drive it, equally I'm not insured to drive other peoples cars; even 3rd party. Pretty exclusive. Had all mods declared, they are a few including supercharger work, chip/pulley, uprated brakes, KW V1's, BBS RS wheels, Leather Recaros etc. I'm 27, 7 years no claims, own/drive another vehicle, kept on driveway in nice area, IAM member etc its just under £370 with agreed value and £150 excess. Was about the best I could find....
  22. Fla & PROVR6: I did some investigating (whilst washing the car) and am pretty confident I have found the culprit. It seems to be, (as do so many other wet passenger carpet problems), the hole in the scuttle for the blower motor. Suprised as I did the foliage seal only a few months ago. The water seems to be coming not down the cabin air intake ducting as I suspected but instead it seems to be getting under the foilage seal, wetting the internal foamy gasket that butts up to the scuttle skin from the interior side then soaking the underlay insulation. Its all ripped out now to dry out fully. Have used some Geocell "The Works" to re-seat the foliage seal gasket. Will test in 24hours or so time. Might leave the Jetex pollen filter off as that was saturated where water had been running off the scuttle.
  23. Ta! They are 15" BBS RS 070's, 7" wide, et15 all round, if I remember correctly. They have 15 45 195 Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres on them.
  24. Went out to the car tonight to find the passenger side carpet sopping wet, front and back. Back more so than the front. Ripped everything out on the passenger side to dry out and try and trace the problem. Can't seem to find anything wrong. In the past have replaced the door seals (around the door to body aperture) to fix this problem, they are sound and no sign of water running in. The blower motor and foliage seal were renewed a few months back and are bone dry. I run a mk2 Golf (modified) scuttle panel cover to protect this area further. The wing channels are clear (poured water over screen to test, water was coming out of the back edge underneath of the front wings), nothing seen inside the car either. I have lost no coolant and can't trace water upto the heater matrix internally. Although water has pooled down the centre of the car, but I expect this is because it is the lowest part of the chassis, the rear in particular. Does any one have any ideas??? It'll be my job for tomorrow now, rather than detailing the thing....
  25. Been discussed earlier in the year... http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... 17&t=88880
