3200 for tpft, christ, it takes me 4 years to spend that on fully comp, for all the cars I own. I am twice the age mind :( Gavin
-
This car is pretty good in the flesh. Seemed to go OK at Oulton the other year. Has a cat 1 alarm fitted too  Gavin

I think another std sensor would work for you. Will it not work off the the std sensor? I had an AFR meter in my Golf connected to the std sensor, the AFR has a high inout impedance and doen't affect the output to the ECU unless you are Riley. Gavin

There is always the post office. For what the petrol would cost you could pay someone to remove-refit it and post it to Darren. 4 hours to the south coast, have you got a teleporter in that Corrado. It used to take me 4 hours from Warrington to Gatwick in 2000. It would be much worse now. Gavin

He was then told that to get round that you have to press the throttle TWICE - i.e. get off it and then back on, the ECU then decides you are doing this deliberately and actually responds. 'Note to self' try this on the way home. Gavin

Is this car originally a KR engine 1800 with a 9A bottom end fitted or has it always been a 9A along with the KE-Motronic fuelling and ignition? If it has std K-jet then you can fit V-SAM or K-star if you can find either. I have the software to map V-SAM and can tell you how to make a programming lead. If it is KE-Motronic then you could go to most of the big remapping compaines and have one written for the car. Unlikely to be cheap though. You could buy one off ebay.de. There is always 9A chips for sale on there, no idea if they are any good but they are cheap enough to try IMO. Gavin

Dave, is your battery in good condition? None of the cat1s I have fitted have had this problem. All I can guess is the sudden load when the fan starts is enough to make the alarm think it's been disconnected. Modern alarms don't monitor things like the olde worlde Moss alarms of yore. They look for solid earths for trggering. My suggestion would be to make sure that both battery connections are clean and bright. Try cleaning up the earth points too. Which Corrado do you have? DBW is pretty funny. You can't leftfoot brake, cleaning water off disks, the ECU gets confused and closes the throttle. TBH I didn't notice any lag at all, the Cupra just pulled whatever revs and obviously when on boost it pulled much harder. I didn't feel that there was much lag, you only had to get to 2500 which is only just off tickover really. Gavin
-
Having DBW is no handicap. csutom-code.co.uk can sort the immobiliser and remap all in one for 200quid on top of the remap. You can do standalone for similar mony but then you have to get it mapped if you don't buy from qpeng. Having the ODB and everthing connected is useful for troubleshooting if anything goes wrong. I had a few snags on the Cupra I had in my sig. A coilpack and a difficult to hunt down boost leak. VAG-COM allowed me to go straight to the duff coil pack. Gavin

How much power does kevhaywire do on his supercharged vr? Certainly won't need one on a std car. Gavin
-
@dutchVR6. I think Andy Walker who did stan's conversion may have one. The donor car is still in his workshop, I was there yesterday. PM coming with his email address. Gavin

Which when used with a chipped ECU makes it difficult to map due to the varying delivery of fuel This is true. I wouldn't fit it. there is no need. Even fitting a 3.5 Bar one needs to be done with the right chip or it'll over fuel like a good 'n. Gavin

Trimsport cannot do a rear strut brace group buy!

Apologies mate, I did think it was odd you'd want to replicate one. I was sure you'd be ticked off if someone were to 'emulate' some of your products. Just read that way to me. Sorry again. Gavin -

In Maurice's defence he doesn't have that much profit to play with in most of his products. Especially the stainless stuff, the Chinese are buying up all they can and the price has truely rocketed the last 12 months. As for copying it, there is no patent on it but I would be very interested to hear how much you could get it done for. I bet you couldn't replicate it for less. I am not trying to make your hearts bleed but Maurice is getting on for 70 and spends hours and hours in his garage, polishing and finishing all his products by hand himself. A grands worth of products to make maybe 150 quid. Takes him and you, the customer, closer to paying VAT as well. He isn't being difficult, believe me he is one of the most accomodating people I know. If he was to add his time in to the equation, he'd never sell anything. Not knocking you lads with an eye for a bargin but would a 5 quid saving really make that much difference to you? Add that to the fact that he sold 5 in a few hours, does he need to sell them cheap anyway? On another angle, would you want those dummies at Royal Mail to be handling your polished to death stainless strut brace? I'd rather pick one up personally. Gavin -
Engine damage shouldn't be an issue if the car was rear ended. Even if it ran into something then small parts like coolant connections get broken without damaging the core of the engine. Upsidedown is bad though.... Gavin

Are you talking about the indicators or sidelights Dave?
-
trigger is right but you need the 2X2 adapters to hook it up. Gavin

R32s are rated at 240 aren't they and that's bog std. Stanbates had a 4 motion engine fitted in his VR on a tight budget for pretty much the same money as a rebuild would have cost. Plus if you sell the schrick and cams you can recover a fair few quid. I wouldn't mess about with the VR engine these days. Gavin

Glad that came good for you Dave. Gavin

Talk to GazzaG60, he is doing exactky that conversion now. Gavin

Neil, we used a Maxi-Cosi one for 9mths and upwards when we had the 16V before Christmas. Youngest now 3 so just use a booster seat thing with a backrest. http://www.kiddicare.com/invt/carmaxprixpgraphitegrey This is one we just got rid of. http://www.kiddicare.com/invt/bnrhuyggjpcsvgdm This is what we use now. How old is your nipper now mate? Gavin EDIT was gutted to find that Kiddicare do deals all the time and I could have got 2 of the first ones for the price I paid for one.

Custom-code can remove the immobilisation in the std ECU so you wouldn't need to make up a loom etc. As long as you don't plan to mess with it once it's been in a while they could chip it at the same time. You just post the ECU to them and they send it back cracked. Gavin

Another case of the student out doing the master

Not when I looked on ETKA. The PG is only a low compression PB. The dissy just lets the ECU know where the engine is pointing. :D Gavin :D
