  1. You would get chip fitting instructions off G werks who sell the chips. You can get away with the std belt if you need to or Gwerks can do you one the right length. Sometimes getting the pulley off the charger can be a toughie. Gavin
  2. Other VWs have an ECU relay. On ETKA the AAA VR6 has a relay in the same position as the ECU relay but it isn't called an ECU relay? It is in position 3, the fusebox is marked. The part number is 357 906 381A. I'd have a look at that. Take the top off it and check for dry soldered joints. I have seen intermittent cutting out on G60s and 2 litre 8Vs due to the ECU relay failing. HTH Gavin
  3. Last question first. A std G60 is a bit slow off the mark anyway IMO. A chip and pulley makes them go like they should. You need to make sure everything is in to condition first. The plugs, leads, cap and rotor etc. After that go to G-werks/pitstopdevelopments for the bits and start grinning. I think you should do a search for running problems, there have been loads of threads on it. ECU pipe and such like. Your gear selection problem is possibly just a circlip that has broken. Pull up the gaitor and see if the lever moves right off the shaft to the left when you go for first or reverse. The circlip only costs pennies from VW. Gavin EDIT. Welcome to the forum as well.
  4. That sounds a bit Spoilt Ba$tard from VIZ to me. 'Is there a more expensive one?' 'Yes there is the YXZ one which costs twice as much' 'Good then I'll have that then, pay the man stop dawdling you old bat.' Gavin
  5. Probably easier to leave your bracket on the car and just swap pumps. You'll see where the bolts are when you have something to compare to. Gavin
  6. It should be a piece of pi$$ mate really. Jack up and remove the front wheel. Axle stands or something substantial under the car!! If the new one hasn't got a pulley on it then crack the 3 allen bolts on that before slackening the belt off. Maybe tighten the belt to help stop it moving. Wacking the allen key rather than putting increasing pressure on it will undo them easier. After that you need to undo 3 or 4 13 mm bolts that hold it onto the bracket. Undo the hose connections and drop the fluid into a contanier so you can re-use it if you are a tight git like me. Re-fit is reverse of removal...................... EASY
  7. Will check my emails from ebay later today. txt me if you don't get it, I forget things
  8. G-werks have mentioned them in the past I am sure. g-man is teh contact. GAvin
  9. Just check that tester #2 is prepared for the investigation if one happens. You shouldn't be paying £80 to get your car tested. You could have bought new discs and then taken them off again? A lot of fcuking about though. Gavin
  10. The gas in a bulb does make a difference Dinkus, it alters the temprature the filament runs at. That also governs the colour of the light that it gives out. Gavin
  11. The pump feed would normally be cut itself, somewhere behind the fusebox and long the drivers side sill. It would be most unusual for an alarm fitter to interfere with the output of the ECU. Even I wouldn't do it and I have and can read the diagrams. It could be a broken wire between the ECU and fusbox? It's got to be worth belling out all the wires. Not a big job with the Bentley to hand Gavin
  12. I'd make sure that the second place is happy with you firing off the photos and cert to the inspectorate. Nowt worse than having it blow up in your face. If the inspec agree with VW it would go down badly for the other place. If you are matey with the other fella, get him to have a look at the MOT guideline book they have. I did this when doing a car with no door handles. In that case it said you had to be able to open the door from the outside, no mention of how you had to do it though. Cover all the bases. Gavin

Read it all, except the bit where I drop my bike.... Just read what RW1 and Kev H have to say. It might sound confusing but a couple of run throughs helps. gavin
  15. You need to get a Bentley manual then... I have a fuse box that should do you but I am not a big fan fo replacing stuff without proving its the only thing that could be at fault. You used to get knocked badly for guessing in my Apprenticeship and I still try not to do it now. If you can get a manual for a mk2 Golf and follow the diagrams for a PB engine, digifant 8V GTI, you should be able to check the fuse box with a meter and confirm if that's the fault or not. The looms should be pretty similar. GAvin

Yeah its not just about the reset of the ECU there are some procedures to go through so the ECU knows the limits to expect between a closed and fully open throttle. I don't have a VR but this is upposed to improve running no end from what I read yesterday. I'll hunt the thread out for you know. That RW1 knows his sh1T. Gavin

Defo wait and have it looked at first mate. In fact it would be worth having a go at the ECU reset thing and basic setting procedure that was in another thread yesterday. The guy said he felt there was a dead spot in the throttle response on his VR which RW1 put down to needing a setting. Gavin
  19. I would put money on the fuel pump relay having a bad soldered joint in it. Try swapping with another if you have someone close who has one. Or take the case off and have a look inside. See what you can see. Gavin
  20. Nowt usually if it a regular swing up and down. Gavin
  21. The numbers are right Neil. It keeps changing as the ECU is constantly altering the mixture/injector firing to keep the CO 'constant' to prevent damage to the cat. If it gose rich the voltage goes one way so the ECU weakens the mixture which then shows up at the probe as a weak mixture so it then richens it up. This happens about once a second when the probe has got to temp. Gavin
  22. Got mine ages ago Dave. Left him feedback on the day it arrived. GAvin

I have my mates VAG COM lead, It is the ODB plug one. If you PM me your number I'll save it and give you a ring if/when I take it back to him. He works at HB Panelcraft near the docks/A59. Gavin
