  1. More confusion, I'd do it the other way round. Putting anything wider than 7/7.5 will begin to compromise the handling. As long as the offset is 35-40mm, then any diameter wheel, with the right size tyres should fit no problem. My 2 cents :mrgreen:

  3. I would never split an enigine that runs OK. Could be inviting problems, plus you save several hours and the cost of a gasket kit. Gavin

  6. If it runs ok from cold then gets worse as it warms up. That sounds like the lambda probe or wiring is at fault. The blowing manifold won't make much difference. You need that ISV connected too. As the ECU ignores the lambda probe until it see the engine warm up. You can check the output of the probe with a digital voltmeter. The probe should output a variable DC voltage once warmed up. If you look at the signal wire, Purple/lilac coloured. The voltage will be steady to start with and will then hunt from about .5V to 1V once fully warmed up. If you rev the engine and release the throttle, you will see it go steady and then down to 0V and back to hunting. This means it is sensing a rich mixture, then the ECU cutting fuel on the overrun and then settling back to idle. VW spend a long time getting their cars to run right. You can't expect it to work properly if you keep disconnecting things.. :lol: Gavin

  10. That pipe tells the ECU how much petrol the engine needs, it CANNOT run without it. There is no ECU reset for a G60. Putting evrything back is the only way to fix it. Gavin

    Oil cooler

    It's not under the oil filter on a VR. It does look the same as a 4 cylinder one thought, about 3inches square and 2 inches deep made from aluminium. Gavin
  12. Has the vac sensing pipe come off the TB or the ECU? The pipe must be a meter long or the engine will run badly. Gavin
  13. Try the locking from the other side. Could be that the door handle switch is knacked or the handle isn't connected following a replacement Gavin

  15. Which engine do you have mate? The G60 has a closed throttle and full throttle switch on the TB. I think the 16Vs only have a closed throttle switch. Does the engine die when you try to use full throttle but runs OK at smaller throttle openings? Gavin
  16. Looks to me like a Scorpian/dealer fit transmitter in a flash case. I'd disconnect the car battery and leave it off for 5 minutes. Reconnect and try again. The filler cap can probably be opened manually from inside the boot. Pull back the trim and see if you can get you hand to it. The central locking actuator just needs pulling or pushing to release the flap. How are you gettig into the car? Using the key, if so then the petrol flap should be opened by the CL. Gavin
  17. What position in the fusebox is your relay 79? The 79 is a the number of the relay and doesn't give a clue as to it function. On the main fuse board pos 1 is top left, pos 12 is bottom right. Things may work with the fuse out becuase they are dragging power from somewhere else? Due to the bad/shorted wiring. Gavin
  18. Silver L plate VR with a blonde girl at the wheel, leaving Manchster airport at 11 ish. It would seem that she has a lead foot too. :mrgreen: I had to wind up the Kangoo to catch up. Also saw pickard1 at the Airport and his car now winds up a bit better, having had his ign leads fettled. :lol: Gavin :lol:
  19. Which is by the coil. It stops the timing being advanced by the ECU so you have a better chance of getting it right. Gavin

    Probably the contacts on the back of the steering wheel are dirty or just not touching the steering column side. Remove the steering wheel to check, 24mm nut in the middle. Gavin

    The heat exchanger is fitted above the oil filter, sounds like you did remove it if you had to join water pipes together. Curious then, that your oil temps are not lower?? EDIT, that was for rossco. The 16v doesn't generate as much heat as the G60, which might account for the smaller drop in temps. Mine easily knocked 20 degrees off daily running temps. Also on a G60 the heat exchanger has to come out completely to get the oil filter off. Gavin

    Did you remove the std heat exchanger? If not then it probably won't make any difference.
