    Rallye power

No I don't think so. Jabbasport had a lot to do with it Mike might tell you?. Best policy is to be easy in the use of the throttle!! GAvin

    Rallye power

The rear diff and viscous coupling are the weakest parts. My mate had a 370hp 20Vt Rallye and that was the only parts he broke. He did it at Oulton Park which is about as hard a test as you could deal out. Gavin
  3. The ABS light is more likely to be a sensor. Ign off and on just reboots that as well. My old GTI G60 did it. Gavin
  4. For that money you can buy your own VAG-COM. It doesn't take 10 mins to scan for faults. Most of that is waiting for the laptop to boot. Just for the record, it is a VR right. Gavin
  5. They should be double female for the front. As they connect to a rigid on the caliper and also back to the MC. The axle ones should be fairly short and double female. The rear caliper ones should be a male and a female IIRC. Something sounds wrong. Gavin
  6. Those chains are endless for a reason. Not that much time ot lift the cams once the belt is off. My advice is do it the long way. Gavin
  7. Yeah but the chains are one piece you wouldn't gain owt. If the oil pressure were too low there would be bells and whistles to tell you. Unless the warning system has been disabled? Gavin
  8. Oh yes. if not get some bell wire and wrap it in tin foil!!
  9. A cat 5 cable is what they use for networking computers. That one is extra flexible I think. Need to buy something that is made from stranded wire not solid. Gavin
  10. Result there mate. Buying new wheels? Might be interested in the 5 spokes  Gavin.
  11. Odd for the rattle to start all of a sudden but the chains do make a right row when they are shot. Gavin
  12. I reckon that cat 5 I saw at Maplins will do the job Steve. Or anything 4 core with a shield. Gavin
  13. I agree white on black is hard on the eyes. Otherwise it looks pretty flash. Gavin
  14. It's about surface area in the cat for cleaning up emissions. A more important concern is the single cats ability to flow as well the twin setup. Naturally, 2 smaller cats are likely to flow more than one larger one. Which is why they have 4 and 5 valve engines. Personally, I think it would be best to use the diameter of the std DP and exhaust as a guide for the Corrado set up. High flow cats no good if they feed a inch and 3/4 system. The larger the better, up to a point. Gavin
  15. If it needs all 4 probes. you can just stick them all in the system anyway. 2 infront of the cat and 2 after. It wouldn't look beautiful on a ramp but no one will be looking!! Gavin
  16. I fitted a corrado suspesion kit to a Golf. The stuff physically fits but the rates may be wrong for the Corrado. G60 brakes will go on. Exhaust no good. Wrong hangars. Gavin
  17. The alternative is buy all the bits new from VW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a long in Germany. A lot more doners there. Syncro Passats are really cheap. Don't matter if the motor or charger is blown. http://www.mobile.de Gavin
  18. Rocker gasket is a novice job. If you have no tools, you could buy the ones you need and the gasket for what the garage would charge you to change it. TBH it's not worth doing unless you are losing so much oil you have to top it up. As for the HG 'failing' ask them what evidence they have for that? WHen mine went on my G60 GTI there was no warning at all, it just let go. See what the say and post their answer for us. The gasket is about £30 from GSF, a set of head bolts and other trivia will do another £50 or so. Might as well have the head skimmed or at least checked by an engineering firm. £40. Half a days labour to pull and refit the head, say £200 ish. Total just over £300, being tight, I'd make sure my RAC is up to date, my mobile always charged and keep on driving. IMO there's no point breaking open the engine unless there is clear evidence something has gone. When I did mine aI also had to get a metal water pipe to the heater. Of course it was a G60 specific dealer part. GSF price for a digifant Golf 15 quid. G60 price £40 and you have to wait 2 days. Theer is always a can of worms to be opened when messing with 'old' cars. I still maintain, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Gavin Gavin
  19. i drive 2.0 litre now thats does 22 mpg i can afford to run a porchse. and it wouldn't be so annoying but the car is being offered to me for 800 and theres nothing wrong with it shes had it since new and drives like a mum and has all the sales history you can see why im so eager to get it. Buy the car and stash it somewhere til you can afford to insure it. Or sell it on to make a few quid. I'll give you £900 for it. Just putting petrol in is only the start of it. I would bet that the Focus doesn't need much doing to it apart from oil changes. A 100K Corrado will be a fairly constant drain on your wallet.. It's time to face the truth. You haven't done yourself any favours really running on your dads insurance. A years no claims at 25% of a lot of money is still a lot of money. Insurance hasn't come down in my opinion all the time I have been driving now 37. At 19 I had an XR3 which was £575 fully comp. A lot of money to an apprentice that took home about £75 a week. Even in my 30s my GTI G60 was £400 tpft. Buy an 850 mini and insure it for a year to get started. If you leave it parked up somewhere, you won't be claiming for anything. Build some no claims like that if you are prepared to drive as you are. Gavin
  20. sweeeet! Don't ask him to fit the air, that'll cost you 8)
  21. Andy not exactly a conversion virgin. :shocked!: Stan, I bet you're wetting yourself every time you see an email from Andy :shocked!: Gavin
