    VW zip ties

Ross I am breaking a Passat, there are some on the bulkhead, how many are you looking for? I could take them off carefully and stick them in the post. Gavin

                   I am not convinced that it is dangerous. It just doesn't look as good as it might. You need to cut into the original wiring which I don't like as it makes it non-reversable. The triumph bit was the seller getting a load of money, for not a lot of outlay. I am not saying that it won't do the job and I notice that you only have a few posts, so could be forgiven for not reading about my looms. Gavin

    A4 1.8T help?

I have heard at Awesome that the diesel MAFs fail and don't show up in the fault reader. Could be the same with this one? Maybe the throttle body needs adapting if it is a fly by wire model. Boost sensing pipe split/damaged. Gavin

    ENGINE TEMPERATURE

It has KE-motronic. This is a lambda controlled variation of K-jet from the 1800. There is no tickover adjustment but you may find that the closed throttle switch is bad or the cable out of adjustment. The ECU controls the tickover using the ISV and the screw in the TB should be screwed all the way in. Info is almost non existant on the system, but Bosch specialist should be able to work it or VW. gavin
  7. Jack it under the sump. I use a trolley jack and some thick cardboard folded up to protect it. gavin
  8. They do spit out coolant when they reach temp. The cap holds pressure making it boil at a higher temp. Stick the cap on and drive it a bit, see what happens. Charge your mobile or drive on bus routes in case!! I think it's OK. Gavin
  9. If carbs were so good, would they not be used and F1. Gavin
  10. I have some Passat rears that just went up to £50  Gavin

    KR cam again

I fitted an exhaust cam as an inlet in my 1800 and IMO it started making power earlier not later. This was certainly evident on the motorway when overtaking, you didn't need to drop a gear at 70 to get a move on. I would suspect the KR inlet cam would have a similar but smaller improvement. Gavin
  12. Take the electrical connection off it. Then lock the doors and boot with the key. If it runs on and on then you probably have a lek in the pipework somewhere. I think the pump is in the right hand side panel of the boot. Gavin

    ECU Reset switch

I have been around dubs for well over ten years and I have never heard of a Corrado/MK2/MK3 with an 'inertia switch' fitted. The fuel is cut off by the fuel pump relay, the feed for this is only present when the engine is rotating. If the engine stalls then the fuel pump stops running. There is likely to be an ECU relay, which if duff will stop the ECU completely. It could be that the output stage for the injectors in the ECU has blown.? There are other things like the crank position sensor which will stop the injectors firing. Do you get any sparks? That would tell you if the ECU is OKish. Gavin
  15. was that the gt kit or coilovers?have you got any pics so i can check the ride height out? a mate has the gt kit on a mk3gti and hes quite pleased with it but it hardly looked lowered and was supposed to be -40mm The front was very low but you could even it up with the adjustable platforms on the rear. It was the TA GT kit. Sorry no pictures cos this was in a time before digital cameras!!! I did have it set hard all round cos it handled best like that. If you back it off more than a couple of turns the dampers lost control of the springs. It couldn't have been all bad as my wife never complained about it, even after we had our first nipper. I completely endorse the kit if you are looking for some positive feedback on it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. I suspect if you read up, the -40mm would be from a std golf not a GTI. My mate has the same kit on his MK3 and I rate that highly too. He thinks its too hard, I just tell him he is too old  Which bites cos he is younger than me, just.. Gavin
  16. I had Weitec on my 1800 16V, top gear IMO. Removed and fitted to my G60 Golf, now in the hands of g-man. It stood up to 3-4 years of flat out driving and track days. Gavin

  18. I think there are 2, 13mm bolts that stop it rotating plus the adjuster. One bolt is easy to see, the other is tucked out of sight!!!! Gavin
  19. Wrap the drive belt around it and hold it with some big channel locks or grip the free ends with molegrips. Obviously you'll need a new belt afterwards. Try heating with a hot air gun too. That might help. Gavin

    g60 over fueling

No worries, I too suspect the probe over anything else. You can swap the connections on the blue and black temp senders and see if that makes a difference. The probe may have a broken wire but continual running with an over fuel situation probably won't do it the world of good. Gavin

    g60 over fueling

Taping up the full throttle switch should cause the ECU to ignore the Lambda probe. I can't comment on how well the engine will run. It may not tickover too good due to the conflict with the switches. Before SNS stage 5 chips this was a way of getting rid of digilag. Gavin

    belt slippage?

I blasted mine with a can of brake cleaner. You could tell it had been slipping cos the engine slowed down a touch and then picked back up. Gavin
  23. Is your engine a PG or 1H? Gavin
  24. Thanks for the kind words Martin. Much appreciated. After your PM the other day I have revised the fitting instructions to be Corrado specific. Hopefully making fitment more straight forward. Cheers Gavin
  25. You can get the plugs for the headlights from Dub but not as far as I know for the other side.. The main reason I don't use them is the cost of the plugs themselves which I think cost over a tenner a pair. The crimps cost 50P each so there is another £4 a loom. Even if I added the cost of the bits in and not the extra time, the looms would become £65 and you would still have blades stuck in the original plug. You could get them by smashing up some headlights!! If you want to do your own, I would consider a deal on an part finshed loom for you both. I think you would get OK money on ebay for your looms  If you move the relays up by the expansion tank, all the other lengths need to be changed too. For corrosion proofing I like to use spray waxoyl, it gets pretty much everywhere before it sets.. Gavin
