  1. Plymouth here, good to see another rado in the shire. Rog.
  2. Absolutely right Jim, like you said worth a punt and if it's still sick I'll use the pump in the engine I'm getting from Gar, it's had a bottom end rebuild 10k ago so will be better than what I currently have fitted even if my engine is ok. Rog.
  3. Yes, I think I will Rob, just priced up a pump and found one for £65, although I've done a deal with Gareth and it looks like 'Stormy' will probably end up with a new (ish) engine... :) BTW got my TRE's from GSF, 8 odd quid each. Rog.
  4. Can't believe you are selling it mate but I guess those itches sometimes need to be scratched. Total bargain for someone, having seen this car in the flesh I can honestly say it's worth every penny. Btw, don't let Rob take any bits off 'my' engine....lol Rog.
  5. Thanks Gar, could be an option, I've sent you a PM. Rog.
  6. Yep, it passed, a few advisories, both rear wheel bearings, both front mac struts have movement at the top and near side track rod end, to be fair he showed me the tre and it's had it but my box of Jaffa cakes bribe changed it from a fail to an advisory...lol... He knows I'll do it and I'll get them to track it for me... So I've bought both ends, might as well both together. That's the good news, now the bad.. It look like the engine is on borrowed time, oil pressure is low (0.5 bar at idle) and the oil is running hot, I Saw 128 today and I think it's knocking again...... Just what I need, the boss is already giving me grieve for the money I spent overhauling the cooling system... Rog.
  7. MOT in a hour, wish me luck #fingerscrossed....lol Rog.
  8. Personally I think a fresh AAA will make just as much if not more if fitted with the ABV inlet tract than a 100k ABV, there is only 600cc difference between the two. Rog.
  9. I'd rather have a heathy AAA than a poorly ABV. Rog.
  10. Dave, where abouts are you in the country, if you are in Devon / Cornwall I'd be happy to have a look at it. Rog.
  11. Ron, can you put a link up in this thread, I might help folk find the correct page. Rog.
  12. Hammerite smooth mate, cant go wrong with Hammerite and you can paint it straight onto rust. Rog.
  13. Rob, give me a shout if you want a hand mate. Rog.
  14. Are you now... that's interesting to know, so out of interest what sort of price can you G13 for?? I paid £11 at VW for 1.5 ltr. Rog.
  15. These are a few threads running at the moment discussing oil and water temps. I'm not sure if this has been done before but I thought I'd start a thread and gather info on what temps people are getting. So, I'll start. 95 VR6, 140,000 miles Just had new rad and flush through, using G13 coolant. 80mph cruise, oil 110-114, the highest it got was 114, water temp was 80-85 Town driving and B road bashing, oil 110-112, water 80-90 Idle, oil 110, water 88-90, fan cuts in at 90. Rog.
  16. I have mate, think I mentioned it in my cracked crack pipe thread, basically I've flushed the whole system, cleaned and flushed the OE oil cooler, fitted a new rad (old one was gunked up) and deleted my mocal oil cooler and it's now running a good 10-20 degrees cooler. Rog.
  17. Top rad pipe seal turned up today so took it for a little test drive. 80mph cruise, oil 110-114, the highest it got was 114, water temp was 80-85 Town driving and B road bashing, oil 110-112, water 80-90 Idle, oil 110, water 88-90, fan cuts in at 90. Seems to be a hell of a lot better, what do the collective think?? Rog.
  18. Just sent you over a few 'different angle' pics of Stormy, hopefully you can make some use of them. Rog.
  19. Welcome, good bunch here, loads of helpful folk. Out of interest where abouts in the country are you?? Rog.
  20. Awesome, a rare sight, probably never to be repeated.
  21. Good find Kev, just ordered one after trashing my fingers and thumbs using my 'water pump pliers' method ... Lol Rog.
  22. Pop in for a brew mate, I'm in Plymouth, right on the Devon / Cornwall border. Rog.
  23. We dragged the tin shed down to Newquay for a week, caught the weather just right and managed to get plenty of time in the water, kids are getting older now (15 and 17) so I guess family holidays are going to be a bit thin on the ground soon. Next year will the 'big un' one son will be finishing A levels and the other GCSE's so we are planning a few weeks in the US followed by a rather large overdraft....lol Rog.
  24. Here what you are saying guys and totally agree that Heritage should be praised for taking up the baton that has been dropped by VW... Don't get me wrong, I'm not moaning about the prices, I appreciate these parts are getting hard to get and as such will attract a premium, I just feel the postage is a bit much. For interest this seal is currently available on VW classic parts for €2.84 (£2.27), I'm sure Heritage can get a better deal than that so I guess they have made their profit on the mark up, just think adding more profit on the postage is a little bit unfair. Don't get me wrong, Heritage do a great job, I've ordered bits from them before and will continue to use them in the future, I have no issues with their service or the quality of the parts, just wish their postage price was a bit fairer. Rog.
