Just a note, i have quite a big solar charger about a foot square (30cmx30cm) for my camper van. Now you need at least about 13v to actually charge a 12v battery. During a trip to france we used it and were concerned as the bus battery was flat after a week. When i put a meter across the panel only on the brightest sunniest days did it register more than 13v enough to start to charge the battery. They are a waste of time in winter especially the small ones in my opinion. Far better to get a small maintenance charger and leave it plugged into the mains, mine cost about £15 from halfords and comes with option to hard wire in a quick release plug rather than crocodile clips all the time.

Spotted a mental two tone black and orange rado in kings lynn by south gates about 11.00am, was sporting a fast and furious massive body kit with a huge rear wing. Never seen it about before and i am sure i would have noticed it on the road as it was hard to miss it!! I was in the works van so no wave from me but think it was a blonde female driving. :D
-
Okay thanks, from memory i had to fully adjust it to get the rear brakes to stop locking up too early. The car is pretty low!! cheers for the help.
-
cool thanks. i do remember playing with it when i had it up on a friends ramp when i did the exhaust mounts. I was concerned as the previous owner lowered the car and i thought the car was thinking there was weight in it as it kept locking the rear wheels under heavy braking. Just to be clear if i undo the adjustment bolt, do i need to push the bracket up or down to open the valve? When i adjusted it i thought i had it fully adjusted as far down as it would go to limit rear flow so i would need to push it up against the spring to "open" the valve??

Thanks for all the info, have failed on a front flexi hose now so am replacing all front and mid hoses with braided too so will have another good go at bleeding with my ezibleed. Mot man also said the pedal was spongy so must be air in there somewhere. :mad2:

I think its supposed to go to the blank plug, mine did. On later models i think they have some sort of valve to vent the oil vapour but mine did not. The sensor on the other side probably should have a wire to it. Is it a camshaft sensor or knock sensor??
-
I understand that this was not the person in the driving seat, my point was that you dont necessarily have to be "driving" to be prosecuted for drink driving. Which i think is relevant in this case as the person charged was not physically driving. Having looked at the news i think he was actually charged with aiding and abetting death by dangerous driving not actually dangerous driving.
-
To be classed as driving you dont actually have to be behind the wheel, trundling along. I was told that even if you were pushing a vehicle along a highway with the keys in the ignition you would be deemed in control of said vehicle and could be prosectuted for drink driving. Not sure if thats true or not though? There was a case of a lorry driver who was asleep in his lorry in the drivers seat. The lorry rolled down a hill and into a house or wall while he was asleep and he was prosectuted for drink driving. The law can be funny sometimes but i am sure the judge and jury would have all the facts necessary and if there were a more appropriate sentance i'm sure the judge would have used it. Must have been a precedent set somewhere before maybe for passenger done for drink driving??

METTALIC BLACK VR6 CORRADO STOLEN ON FRIDAY NIGHT
muppetlab replied to Timbo's topic in General Car Chat
Sorry to hear about this, always a bugger when someone gets a car nicked or damaged. Makes you wonder why we bother with alarms. Hope you get some good news soon. -
A friend that races stock hatch told me the tesco's stuff is among the best he could find, apparently lots of them use it in racing so it cant be that bad,

aaaarrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhh. Stop tempting me with this thread. Just stop it now. You lucky :censored: , i would give a limb for a spin it that car. That underbonnet looks good enough to eat. If i could just justify 4k on the old girl..... By the way what rims has that stealth car got on it, they look nice? Team dynamics??
-
Will give You £449 and a can of bear, I mean beer :D What sort of beer? I could be tempted if its my favourite.
-
Just had my car valued by "we buy any car" and was quoted a massive £445 for my 92 vr6. Said they would buy it straight away as well. Bargain. Thinking of selling now if its worth that much

Is this the start of the end for parts support?
muppetlab replied to corozin's topic in General Car Chat
I agree, whenever i have to replace anything that goes wrong i always look to upgrade, brakes, hoses, electrics etc. theres a wealth of race and rally parts specialists who can get anything to fit. The only problem i see is if you want a clean original car. In that case original parts are going to get very hard to find or very expensive. -
Just got to wait for parts. i am going to upgrade the front hoses to match the rears while i am doing the job. Might as well do it properly as the hoses i have on were a bodge by a previous owner when they did the porsche caliper conversion. Hopefully this is the last of the bodges for a while. Cant understand the mentality of some people bodging cars especially stuff like brakes. I i do a job i do it properly. if a hose looks like its bending and stretching past what it should i get it sorted, i dont just say oh well it will do, if it breaks i have three other brakes on the car hopefully they will stop me as i spin down the road towards oncoming traffic at 70mph :brickwall:

i guess as more and more parts become obsolete, forums such as this become invaluable. People find ways to adapt other vehicles parts and through the corrado community they will ensure these old cars are around for a while yet. Necessity is the mother of all invention! -
Damn it i cant belive it, weeks of getting the ole girl ready and she failed. All that panic as wether it would pass emissions, wether the lack of abs would be a fail and what does it fail on? Spongy pedal and leaking front flexi brake hose. Guess brake hoses must be instant fail as its hardly wet at all. Spongy pedal is caused by the air in the rear calipers from the swop last week. So only a couple of little bits to sort this week and its all go for another year :D Just got the works van until its back on the road :(

what i dont understand is the prices of the parts of some corrado parts is expensive to say the least, but yet there are nice sorted cars out there selling for silly cheap prices. No wonder they all get broken for spares but surely there must be a point when a whole car in good working order must actually be worth more than scrap value?? Or am i going to be very old and grey before that happens  -
Hmmmm. I have been using high octane petrol (vmax, tesco super) for the last week or so in an effort to make my car run a bit better for the Mot. It does seem a bit less lumpy through the rev range. However it does seem to have trouble starting in the mornings now, needs a bit of pedal where as before on low octane it used to fire right up. Might be a coincidence, cant say for sure until i check it out with some low octane stuff.

The bloke who was jailed was clearly an accessory to the accident. He knew his wife was drunk and allowed her to drive which in my opinion makes him guilty of something (not having a brain cell or morals). That he thought it was okay to let his slightly less pissed wife drive is a problem but unfortunately she had an accident which then changes the scene further. As she caused death he could have knowingly prevented. So he is in fact just as guilty as the driver although he was not driving. Wether his sentance was harsh depends but to be honest a :censored: who lets his pissed up wife drive because he either doesn't want the hassle if HE gets caught or thinks his wife wont get caught deserves to be inside anyway in my opinion.

I agree it is possible to have 17" wheels and a decent ride just need good suspension setup, but 17's will always be a compromise against comfort in favour of handling. I Know a lot of people dislike the yoko's but i have had a set of prada spec 2's on now for 5k and have to say they are excellent, very good in the dry, good comfort and okay in the wet. I am not mad therefore prefer not to try and find a tyres limit in the wet but they pull up nice and quick in a line. Fairly soft though so i expect wear will be quite high but then if you are only doing low milage probably not so much an issue.
-
 If you want a jolt free ride you'll need smaller rims than 17". Handling wise maybe less sidewall flex in a 17" than say a 15" but the 15's willl be lighter and spin up quicker and make they car more agile, the 17's in my experience slow the car down and make it feel a tad heavy. But looks wise 17's look best in my eyes, hence why i have them on mine :D

Dot 5.1 is fine to use and can be mixed with dot 4 if need be but better to do a complete flush with 5.1 then you know its all good. As mentioned its Dot 5 which is the silicone one and wont mix with other Dot fluids. Think Dot 5 also has a colourant in it but not sure. I recently replaced mine with Dot 5.1 but to be honest cant notice much difference apart from the fact its about three times as expensive

Have bleed the m/c again and the pump and the pedal feels a bit better, but can feel the back brakes pulling the car to one side under braking so hopefully its air in one side and not a problem with the calipers  Figured the faulty sensor out, just got to cross fingers now as just remembered it had been decatted when i bought it, doh!! Doubt i will break it as i would rather keep it as a track car, than destroy it as its not that bad. I am sure everyone has spells when nothing seems to go right with their car, but when its all working its great. Just got to refind the love and a years Mot and it will be happy days. I have thought about getting something else, but to be honest i have had loads of cars in my past from mk1 golfs and land rovers to lotus and porsche and none did everything i needed. The corrado is as close as i have got to car perfection, its got good looks, nice turn of speed, bit different from the crowd and it makes me smile (sometimes)

After seeing the S/C's torque curve, no chance  Hush you, you're not helping! Well obviously a s/c is not worth anywhere near a turbo kit and would be for those who can't afford the turbot. Yeah it has different power bands, but it has its advantages as well. Plus it would be already mapped for the lucky winner. anyways...off topic![/quote:224ocy1f] might be interested in an S/C depending on Spec and Price :norty:
