  1. Cheers Lads. I saw a new boxed set of 16" BBS RX2 on ebay, so I bit the bullet, bidded and won them for £720.00, less than half the original price! I'd be interested to know how much the RX of the same size weighs, I'd of thought that the split rim wheel would of been the same weight or lighter? But whatever the case they must weigh alot less than my Azev A's! When I was bidding I was contacted by another regular Ebay seller who said he had an identical set for sale(16" 4x100), He's based in sweden but said he would accept £400 for the set including postage. I thought it sounded dodgy but he promised the sale would be protected by ebay? Anyone want the Contact details? cheers,
  2. Anyone recommend any BBS style 'spokey' (or replica's) that are good quality? Really want 16" BBS like the RX2 but not sure If i'm going to be able to stretch to their prices! cheers

    4x100 et40 ?

I nearly bought a Corrado with Bk299's on, they look gorgeous! Shame they don't do them in 16's, a least I can't find any in 16" ?
  4. But surely a 16v is gonna loose performance on 95 RON UL regardless of wether it pinks or not? granted the k-jet cannot adjust the timing to take advantage of say 99RON oprtimax, but k-jet should get 98RON performance out of it (as it woul of done with the old 98 4 star/98 Super) as opposed to less power on 95RON?
  5. yeah but what equipment are you using tho! usually anything german is super firm o suit their brilliant roads!
  6. Wind the idle screw right out, and clean the end of it, until its spotless. also clean the hole out. Made an amazing difference to my mk2! As Gazza says, clean the ISV, and if you can, leave it soaking overnight in brake cleaner or petrol.
  7. I want to lower my G60 a little without buggering the ride quality. With my mk2 golf I spent a fortune with different kits/shocks and always had a hard ride! :x I want stock-ish handling & comfort, this car is my daily driver. I noticed Eibach sell a 'Prokit' spring set that claims not to sacrifice ride comfort, and are designed for use with standard shocks. They do drops between 25 & 40mm. Are these kits a new product? Anyone using these springs? What drop do you recommend? (I'll be using 16" wheels) If I go for these springs, I will probably couple them with Bilstein GAS shock absorbers, which are about 5-10% uprated apparently, and I've heard good reports of these shocks used with lowering springs on mk2 golfs. Anyone use these shocks on their Corrado? Any comments? I've just measured the current ride height as follows - Front : 370mm n/s, 370mm o/s (newish stock springs!) Rear : 325mm n/s, 337mm o/s (obviously sagged original springs!) front tyre-arch gap is 80mm, which is huge! (17" wheels) Definately will be lowering it by at least 40mm! p.s I have a new set of Bilstein GAS shocks for a mk2 golf 16v already, will these fit the corrado? The spring plate height might be wrong but I can adjust that as the plate sits on a circlip. thanks for any help!
  8. I noticed on my mk2 that optimax does clean the combustion chambers more effectively. After a few weeks of using it the bores were nice and shiny particulary the back of the valves!

    G60 gearbox..

Ta very much mate, I'll give them a call. C&R charge about £12, but with £8.95 carridge?!?!?!?! Hopefully the slick 50 treatment will make up the capacity, and I have about 1/2 litre of MTL left aswell. ta

    G60 gearbox..

C&R enterprises say they don't sell MT90, and they use MTL inall VAG 'boxes. Where did you buy your MT90 from, and why is it more suited to the G60 box? thanks
  11. Cool, I won the ABS light on ebay. 26 quid, just saved my self £73...! G60 jet, i checked, the handbrake light goes out once the car is started. cheers,
  12. Cutting compounds are all well and good, but is it putting back the heavy oils into your paint that have been lost over the years, causing the dullness & loss of colour? Body shops use 3M to achieve the flat & glossy paint finish, they have no need to replenish the oils in new paint. Glazes such as Swissol (and Zymol cleaner wax)will cut through the crap on the surface and remove swirl marks(different grades are available), while putting essential oils back into the paint. All it needs then is regular waxing to lock the oils in. I know this because I used to use 3M cutting compounds, it will look great for a few weeks, but before long the paint will of dried out and it will need cutting again. I'm still using Wax Wizard paint cleanser, and Carnauba Wax(now gone to Swissol) that I bought 3 years ago, it's brilliant stuff. When It runs out I'll probably start using Zymol cleaner wax or Swissol glaze, with Swissol Wax. cheers,
  13. Cheers, I might end up doing that. The pds look clean as if no Copper grease has been used. How difficult is it to change the front pads? I'm mechanically minded, just haven't touched brakes yet, apart from bleeding the braking system on my mk2. thanks,

    G60 handbrake

Cool. Do they do Corrado specific ones or are they all the same size/fit? Thinking maybe of a red alcantara one to match the seat centres!

    G60 gearbox..

Thanks or the link, i'll check it out! That is dear, must of gone up alot since I bought MTL at £12 a litre...!! I looked through the other threads regarding gear change probs, so the main other causes seem to be leaky clutch hydraulics & knackered engine mounts, I will check both tomorrow... Just had a look at their website, so much detail! It all sounds good, wouldn't mind some of their Motor Oil, and the Water Wetter for the cooling system. 8)

    G60 handbrake

My G60 has the leather covered handbrak handle, but is missing the piece of trim that covers the rest of he steel handbrake. Should it be a plastic cover ot leather gaitor? cheers

    G60 gearbox..

Is that a Full synthetic oil?
  18. Brilliant ! that was quite Bizarre. I've asked the seller for more details, hopefully it will fit my Aug '92 G60. Wiring behind dash looks stock & tidy, loom connector is in place. G60Jet, I'm sure it does, but i'll check it later. cheers 8)
  19. haha, I'm an engineer, we've got some very accurate spirit levels at work!! seriously tho, i'm not going to touch it myself. So -0.5° camber is the standard setting for the C, same as the mk2 then. I'll check the rear spring assistors, they probably are disintegrated. That's Awesome GTI store's price of 45+VAT. My local VAG specialist charges 40+VAT, basically it's an hour's labour, and it does take them that long to get it spot on, sometimes longer. I might start looking at suspension kits, and get it all done at the same time, sooner rather than later. btw, I have a pair of new Bilstein GAS mk2 16v rear shocks in the garage, would these fit the C G60? cheers,

    G60 gearbox..

I checked the oil level - it was very low! seems to of been leaking from the casing gasket. I topped it up to the correct level with some old SP80 I had(pain in the arse, not much room above the filler plug!) It immediately seemed better, especially reverse, which had started to jolt the car when engaged. It no longer seems to crunch or struggle when downchanging to 3rd or 2nd. However, it does still seem notchy, and 5th seems to grate a little bit. It's also very hard to get out of reverse sometimes(2 hands job) but If I stop the engine it comes out ok. Last night I took it out for it's first proper drive, it crunched BADLY from 1st into 2nd (fast change at about 5-6krpm) Gutted. Does it still sound like an adjustment problem, or am I facing a rebuild? Car's only done 83k, the 100-120k Corrado's I tested previously all seemed to have a great gearchange. I guess a mix of two diferent oils isn't helping, so I plan to change it to Redline. Whats different about MT90 than MTL? where can you get it from, is it just C&R? Do I need just over a litre like the golf, or more? What about Slick50 treatment, I used it with sucess in my GTI, is it right to use it in this gearbox?? anyone against Slick50? Cheers for any help
  21. Not had much luck looking fo an ABS light at the breakers. Thought I'd amuse myself and ring the dealers, £84+VAT !!!!!
  22. lol, I know it wouldn't be accurate, just better than what its set at now! If I have to undo the ball joints aswell, I won't bother, as I don't have a splitter. I can't really drive the car 'properly' when its like this, guess i'll have to bite he bullet and get it done.
  23. My G60 had a new set of front springs before I bought it, it had failed the MOT because they had sagged/broken. The front end now looks sky high compared to the back, and I've noticed the camber looks wrong. I measured the camber with a spirit level, it is actually positive by a few degrees! Obviously I need to get the wheel alighment done, but I'm reluctant to pay 45+VAT, only to have to pay it again when I get a lowering kit fitted in the next weeks. Can I just adjust the camber to 0° using the spirit level as a temporary method? Is it just a case of slackening the strut adjustment bolts, or does anything else have to be loosened/adjusted? thanks,

    Weitec shocks

I've had both the fixed & adjutable 40mm kit on my mk2, handling is great but a little firm. Adjustable kit is slightly softer than fixed kit when on softest damping. Build quality is excellent, will last for years and years I reckon. Adjustable kit is much more rustproof than fixed kit. Rear dampers do 'clunk' over bumps, everyone seems to have this problem. Only noticeable with the windows open tho.
  25. Off to Powerflow on thursday to get an extra silencer put in (or a different rear silencer) Not bad at £40, just hope it doesnt end up being too quiet!
