I said as much back in 2011. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?56780-Corrado-love

I wandered across this while on the train this morning. Interesting read. Does anyone own this now? My kids love the spoiler too. http://petrolblog.com/2012/11/06/regrets-volkswagen-corrado-vr6/

As has been mentioned, to most people it's simply an old car being driven by someone who can't afford something newer. That's because they simply don't know what it is and only look at the ageing style and older number plate. But I've had quite a lot of love for the Corrado over the last couple of years too by the few people who do know it.

Good luck. Hope she sells. But its still sad.

:) No plans (yet) to sell it. But if the time comes then I would definitey prefer it to go to someone on the forum. -
I tried that last year and they phoned Childline :(
-
^^ Same. It's either this or the kids Christmas presents. I wonder if they would mind :)
-
Correct, they are handed. About a year ago one side was obsolete (I can't remember which), so I assume both must be by now.

Cheer guys. I've only been here two years so the package won't be great. I probably won't know for a couple of months whether I'm at risk or not. I'm not going to dwell on it as I'm sure I'll be fine, or manage to get another job if I need to. But it does mean a sligthly more lean Christmas for the kids as I can't be spending too much with uncertainty hanging. -

Well ironically my company announced today 11,000 redundancies globally (no that figure isnt a typo). So I doubt I willbe working for them this time next year anyway :D -
As far as I'm aware they are the same as standard black cloth. When I bought my recaros from harryc we didn't bother swapping door cards because ours were both the same. I've never seen door cards with the geometric pattern either. EDIT: I've just found a thread on all the cloth interiors below. It seems there is a thrid cloth type too; grey with a red pinstripe: http://direct.the-corrado.net/showthread.php?26730-later-corrado-recaro-CLOTH-interior/page3

I don't think there is any fundamental difference between recaros in late and early cars, apart from the trim pattern (early = ultraviolet pattern, late = ultraviolet or black geometric pattern) Ultraviolet pattern (this is from a Golf but gives you an idea of the pattern): http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d92/aquablue27/My%2520car%2520thread%2520pics/IMG_4560Medium.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php%3F183113-The-ultimate-recaro-seats/page3&usg=__bLQO66TosBqxDtxLiqwoKqPl7P8=&h=600&w=800&sz=48&hl=en&start=7&sig2=6lLAkkbyhWpEMI3S6t3TOA&zoom=1&tbnid=WkyOWE9Wy2RRJM:&tbnh=107&tbnw=143&ei=Hz6_UJrBMOnq0QGPxYDoBQ&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dcorrado.net%2Bultraviolet%2Brecaro%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-US%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1 Black cloth: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?56282-Storm-grey-VR6-I-was-blind-and-now-I-can-see!/page5 Yes the Corrado recaros are electric: * Electric height adjustment. * Electric seat back adjustment. * But manual forward/back adjustment. * Cloth recaros are not heated but OEM leather recaros are. The movement switches sometimes don't work and are obsolete - but they usually just need taking apart and cleaning (had to do this to one of mine - works perfectly now). The loom for movement is simply two wires (live and earth). The earth goes to any suitable earihing point (there is one by the drivers foot) and the live goes to a constant live busbar on the back of the fuse box (ensure you fit an in-line 20 amp fuse). I wired mine up and it was quite simple and only fiddly because there are so many wires in the back of the fuse box. Grab the loom from the seller if you can but if you can't then it is simple to make your own (although knock the price down accordingly). If possible check that all movement works before buying them. Also make sure all switches and the plastic trim on the base is present. All parts are now obsolete so extremely hard to find.

Yes this forum is great. I think that's partly because it's such a small community compared to mainstream car forums. 288's should fit under standard speedlines (I keen meaning to do the upgrade myself). 1st gear issue - It could be worn gear linkages or simply needs adjustment. But something else to look at is whether your engine and gearbox mounts are worn . When I changed mine it improved things considerably.

Maybe the outer trim was only fitted to storms :bonk: :shocked!: :bounce2: ;)
-
I just took a look at mine and it only has runner trim on the tunnel side. The outer side is covered by carpet.
-
That looks fantastic.
-
Me? Yes I managed to get the original loom, incljuding the seat plugs, with the seats when I bought them... but they didn't have the fuse box connector on the end so I bought that from VW.
-
If you are trying to keep it period then it will have to be the ultra violet cloth recaros. The black cloth recaro was only on later cars. Also, in case you see any for sale, Corrado recaros are not the same as Golf ones. The Golf had bigger side bolsters and the seat base sat higher (but will fit). Also the Golf recaro has electric one way adjustment but the Corrado version has two way.
-
As above, you will have an early style. The seats are identical but you may need door cards if the seat trim is different in pattern to your current cards. The door cards are slightly different for early cars as the window switches are in the card itself rather than in the door pods like on later cars.

http://www.dgautotech.com/dgauto/ When I'm back home later I will check the invoice to see if it included any other work. It probably included installation of the uprated cams that the car has. But I'm not sure if it included the cam purchase cost. Edit: Damn, beaten.

The previous owner of mine did them in about 2009 at D&G I think, for approx £1k

Zombie thread! It... will... not... die!

Have you checked that both battery terminals are connected firmly?

Welcome back to the fold :)
