Jesus...Its a lot of money for some sound proofing. It would be nice to get some for mine but wont be high on the priority list :)
-
I had a little gap on mine too...I just used some B and Q black gutter sealant on mine(and a sealant gun to squirt the thing out) To make it a neat job and to stop any excess sealant getting everywhere on the trim I used some masking tapes between the gaps.

I take it the engine oil will need to be drained first before attempting to unbolting the oil cooler ?
-
Thanks for the replies...gonna do a search in here and see how easy it is to do myself :)

Need some advice guys... I have notice there is a very slight oil leak on my VR and it seems to be coming from the oil cooler. I ve read from previous posts that it could be the seal that needs replacing...is it worth relacing the whole oil coooler given the amount of effort getting to it in the first place or just changing the seal should be sufficient. cheers

cheers RW1 for checking the part number. Think I will get the part from the dealer rather than mess about :)

Thanks for the info....I've just had a look on ebay for a genuine left abs speed sensor and found see link below http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GENUINE-FRONT- ... 19bc659d1b Can anyone confirm that this is the right part...seems pretty cheap for the genuine article cheers

Hi All The abs light has been staying on constantly so have had the VR6 plugged into VAGCOM....The VAGCOM reading is as follows 00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47) 35-00 00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47) 16-00 - Signal Outside specifuication 00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47) 04-00 Mechanical Malfunction. From the above its clealrly pointing the fault to a left ABS Wheel Speed Sensor...Is this an easy enough job to do for a novice...and where on the wheel is this sensor located...Where is the best place to get this part apart from the obvious vw dealers thanks in advance

How do you know if the added fuse has prevented a short. Would the headlight switch just stop operating or will it continue to work ? How will you know when to change the "added" fuse is what I am trying to get at :)

I ve got a shrick manifold on mine too and I ve found this website useful with regards to information about it. Dont know if youve seen this website already http://www.jonathanwillits.supanet.com/schrick.htm

I know what you mean it can be difficult... I took mine out to change a fuse a few weeks back and after several attempt...gave up and put the fusebox cover box in the back of the boot until today when I did the headlight switch fuse mod. I decided to put the fuse cover back on. It was a lot easier this time round with sun shining where I can see where things are going. Push the seats right back so that you have more space..If you have an adjustable steering column tilt it all the way up. I stuck my head right under the dash and and get the back of the fuse box cover as far back as I could....Make sure non of the fluffy insulation stuff is catching on the fuses itself. Once you got the fuse cover roughly in place just make sure both of the fuse cover "arms" go into their designated slots at the back. Push up from under the fuse cover to feed it in. Having the button clips really help to align things properly also Good luck !!!

I have just done this mod today…and got one of my index finger burnt in the process :( So be careful with this !!! Never done soldering in my life :) Glad I got it done. Guess I wont be attempting the LED mod version of this as I dont think I can afford to get any other fingers burnt in the process :) On the VR6 there wasn’t much “extension” for me to work on once I've disconnected the headlight switch. So had to take all the lower trims out to get to it from the bottom up The finish article. Have to say thanks to Crazy Dave for this mod. Otherwise would have never known about this issue :D

Is the mk2 golf headlight switch a straight swap with the corrado. Does any one know if it needs to be modified ? cheers

I will have to double check again when I get home this weekend

….Iam now a bit worried after reading this post :( . My headlight switch is a bit skewered in opertation in the side light position and also I have noticed that the round symbol doesn’t illuminate either. It only illuminates at the headlight position. I take it the switch could be in danger of shorting due to mechanical failure. …Shall I disconnect the battery and take the switch out for inspection or disconnect the battery permanently and try and source a replacement headlight switch and get a led bulb and resistor on it ASAP?????

Saw a corrado with fog lights on near the cat and fiddle on the way back home....Coudn't make out what colour exactly...Think it was black not too sure as as I was pre occupied negotiating the twist and bends on the road....:)
-
Glad you got yours sorted too...I did not use the two black bung clips supplied as I didnt want to risk snapping the lugs at the back of the badge. Mine was really tight!. So just stuck it on with number pate adhesive.

Great find thanks for sharing  -
Yes I bought the one off the ebay link that was on this thread.

Rear VW Badge is all chromed again!!!....Just to add....Yes the two plastic lugs off the Mk2 emblem are a bit fatter but it still goes into the holes in the corrado bodypanel no problem and it will still slid out (so no need to file it down). To stop it sliding out and to fix it in place I ve used double sided number plates adhesives pads I got from halford and it does a very good job.

that is one serious interior cleaning...the results on the carpet looks amazing!!!... Make me want to do the same on mine instead of just a quick hoover :)
