Great that , i was born in 69 as well , brilliant to look back at stuff and think ''i had those toys '' , life was so simple then . Berlin wall coming down as well ,remember that in 85 , my daughter bought a spy book a while back , She had know idea what the wall was there for ,or who the stasi were . What history do they teach nowadays ?, thanks for posting .

Purchase the sender from your local tps ,or nearest , part no for thermo switch which i presume is the same for a vr is 357919369f. Tps will tell you anyway when you give them the reg of your car . Rob

Very true that , i wont repeat myself over the compleat cock up they made of mine , but if i left one of my jobs in that state i would expect to pull up the next day and see my tools strewn over the site . ---------- Post added at 5:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 5:28 PM ----------

Lovin the g60 chris , long time no speak or see mate ,although we have waved a couple of times . mind you, you change your no like you change your boxers . No wonder us locals cant get hold of you , see you soon mate . -
Just had a read through your thread , the rado is a credit to you , great work there .
-
Hi mate will see if tim needs it first as i did offer it to him , also did you have engine running with test ? crank senser will show fault if engine is not running .

Nasty

Hi mate , check conections at both ends of ecu , I did all the checks for electrical and fuel , used a multimeter and stuff , still would not start, i cleaned ecu ,put the plugs back on and she fired .i have a crank senser that works fine , if you need it , as i replaced it without needing to . Rob
-
Also if you do a search , it will come up with my engine problems i had with no start . RW1 sorted it for me , mine was ecu connection , worth checking ,it had some corrosion in it . Rob

Sunroof maintenance !

Dear god , ive now been reminded that i still have to sort mine , i have a bentley manual and set it as above ,greased it so it should run smooth and it still plays up and when you drive above 50 sounds like your in a wind tunnel !Its been in n out 5 times now ,i would gladly pay someone to sort it , but when you tell them its a rado sunroof you get the same answer , ''er were quite busy at the moment cough cough '' . -
Looks a nice car and as said above ,the bay looks clean . Its good to get some essential jobs done as well as the bits that annoy ie the steering wheel and gear knob . A bit of saving here n there and you will get some new wheels .
-
I stand corrected , it is what a meant though , with the four bits.
-
Hi jim ,save yourself a ball ache , when you ring the fitter ,tell them the rubbers are four seperate peices . I made the mistake of not mentioning this , i came back to find a normal trim on my car flapping around in the wind and in no way water proof !. This happend to me twice even though i told them after the first time .
-
A little but important tip . Dont forget to check when you remove the old sensers that the rubber 'o' ring comes out as well . Its an easy mistake to make . I know someone thats an ex vw mechanic and he has seen it done at work . I left one in ,all was well till it got up to temp and the pressure blew it straight out of the housing , coolant everywhere and stranded till someone came out with water and new coolant !. Rob
-
Agreed thats the annoying part , wash ,polish and wax , one down pour and some dust and it looks a right mess !
-
I would think about changing the temp senders first , having said that do valvers have three temp senders ,the same as vr's ?. just a thought .

Thanks again for comments , really love the black n cream mix , Rob , would be nice to have a head unit in there , such a bummer I blew the one up that was in there, what a bell end , that was a lovely unit .
-
Thanks guys , yes its better with a mixture of black with it , to much cream is a bit overkill .

Cant remember who it was [last time someone brought up the subject of covers] but his oldman specialised in car restoration , and he was saying a car is best left to the weathers , its designed to let rain run off of it and some covers can do damage , but having said that if your car is dark in colour or red for example it does need protection from sunlight .
