Laying it up does seem like an option - hampered by the fact my garage is a bit crappy and the company I let it from are not willing to address problems I have with it, including the floor flooding when it rains. I feel like if I leave the car for a year or more, it may degrade excessively to the point where it may be expensive to bring it back to good condition... I think I would feel more positive if insurance was easier, and I had a place to park both my cars at home - but I don't. And now I've got the Octavia VRS I have a car which performs as well as the Corrado. I know what it's like "not being one of the gang" and I know exactly what you mean. I've been there many times over the years as I've dipped in and out of ownership. Each of those times were circumstances forcing my hand.. this time I just feel like I can't be bothered with it any more.

I know I make threads like this on a reasonably regular basis but I really think I'm done with the Corrado. * It's a car for tinkerers. I hate tinkering. I'm not confident enough to take my car apart. I don't have any interest in doing so to be honest. I just want to use it and wash it. * I'm fed up of the cost of running / insuring / taxing two cars! * I'd say it's in "above average condition" but it needs a respray to make me happy with it, but I simply can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on it. * I can't be bothered with VW shows any more - nothing new to see. Doesn't interest me any more. * Want to buy a house next year - the cash would all help with a deposit. The only reason I really keep the car is for the social side of things - but I don't need the Corrado for that. I can still go to meets with friends in whatever car I own. Don't get me wrong if I was to ditch the car, I'd be sad about it - but I just don't think I can be bothered with it any more. I feel like I scratched the itch and having now had a VR6 for two years, it's time to move on. Given all this - is it time to sell up?

And, with the greatest respect, it's amazing what utter BS conspiracy theories some people will believe! :) I used to be a fairly firm believer that there was government involvement in the September 11th incident in New York but someone said do you not think that, in all of government and all the people that would be needed to put that together that SOMEONE wouldn't have had a conscience to blow it open and report it all? And like the belief that the Apollo moonlandings were faked - I watched the Mythbusters episode where they covered it all. To be honest it was more than enough debunking of all the bollocks to reaffirm they really did it.

Good luck with the sale. Best colour by far.

There was an incident with mysterious bangs in the sky a few months back... http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/9647222.Eurofighter_Typhoon_s_sonic_boom_causes_panic_across_England/

I do like a good conspiracy theory but some of them are BS. I don't like to believe anything like this until I see (or hear it) for myself.

Nope.. they're sounds from a movie which came out last year it seems! I think they're all hoaxes! [video=youtube_share;ItD6dQa5ncw]

Portent - you're totally right about people not caring about cars any more. I think the problem is that the majority of these sorts of cars are now all done on hire purchase / finance schemes where the person never really owns the car anyway. They know that they'll run it for 2 or 3 years and just hand it back so it makes absolutely no difference to them whether they baby it, or treat it like crap! Regarding performance of the car - be interested to know the stats compared to a normal GTI. I always assumed they'd walk over the VR because of the higher level of torque but I was out for a spin in the VR last week and turned onto a bit of dual carriageway with a fairly clean / cared for looking MK5 GTI behind me. The turn was a sharp 90 degree and I whipped round it and looked into my rear view mirror to see him being caught somewhat offguard and understeering across into the second lane. We both nailed it and I started to walk away from him and carried on pulling away.. much to my surprise. Yes mine does have the SP263 cams and a remap which will help a lot but.. :)

The market on Corrado's does seem slow these days so as you say, you could end up wasting a lot of time. Depends how quickly you want to move on the other car though really.

Looks superb :) But agreed on the red rear plinth - red is one of those colours that really needs the contrast of the black trim to break up the colour! :)

There was a lengthy discussion on this one a while back :) http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?58739-Hella-Radiators

Great car, great city! Welcome back to Corrado ownership! :) -
I am confused. That's the eBay seller I used and after a failed experience buying the cheaper versions of those leads they sent me those ones and I could definitely unscrew the plug at one of the ends (I don't remember which) to fit the sensor. Sorry for the misinformation - it just doesn't match my experience at all! :( This is the email I received after I queried the original leads I received, from a couple of years ago: Hiya there Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the leads we supplied. This lead set is not made to fit a sensor but we have 2 solutions for you. (1) These leads are not designed to have a sensor fitted but we do have a Copper version that can have a sensor fitted. We would happily exchange for these, even though the leads have already been fitted but they would be around £13.00 more expensive. They are on Ebay at £26.00 more but we could do the discount because of the confusion. (2) If you would prefer to keep the current lead set a sensor would be compatible if you could fit it on. If you send us your knock sensor we would be able to have a single lead made with your sensor already on. We would also need to know the exposed cable length of the lead you need it fitting to. Please let us know which option is best for you and we will arrange. Kind regards

If you have a Garmin sat nav, they do a free utility called BaseCamp that allows you to plan routes and upload them to your Garmin device..

Heater control only selects demist and very stiff
Jim replied to timthetinyhorse's topic in Interior
It can be one of several things - take davidwort's advice first though. When we did the heater matrix on Supercharged's car, we got the whole heater box out (that was a lot of work!!) and checked out the cog system on the underside and found they'd gone out of alignment at some point and had jumped a few teeth. We realigned it all and now the heater controls all work like a charm. I hope you don't have to get to that level to work out the problem though.... :) -
It really is down to you, what spare cash you have, what you want to do longer term. I don't think anyone can advise you on a decision like this to be honest!

Spotted two out and about this weekend which is a rarity for me... One heading northbound on the M6 on Saturday.. think it was just outside Birmingham... Bordeaux Pearl I think with with a registration of something like L*** PRP - it seems familiar to be but not sure? And secondly one today parked up outside the cafe (The Touch Down Inn?) at Wellesbourne Airfield at around 1pm this afternoon. Seemingly a bit of a rare one - a yellow VR6 - seemed a very pale yellow.. is this Jasmine Yellow?! I can count on one hand the number of those I've seen... sadly was on my bike and lacking a pen or anything as I would have left the owner a note to get on here! :(

I find mine does have the same sort of turbine whistle you refer to dr_mat - usually as you're sailing past the 5k mark... so it shouldn't be lost on yours! Those are some great figures by the way. It is funny what lengths naturally aspirated engine owners have to go to, to get even close to the sorts of improvements you can get our of a simple remap on a modern petrol turbo engine though!! :)
-
Sounds amazing.. and gets round the speedo pretty quickly! I bet the TVR driver was surprised when you started to sail past him..

The SP263's do seem to make the VR lose a bit of it's roar.. but is worth it for the increased oomph :)

Good stuff. Good to get the Corrado out and actually go to a car meet.. and cheers for brekkie mate! Glad you got the ABS sorted! Any idea who won the "other" award? Hoping it was one of the Corrado's? :) -
Presumably he'll be buying it back again in a few years so you best keep it in good shape Goldie :) Glad to hear you've got another, especially one of that calibre.
