I'd leave the wiper in place until such a time you can get it properly deleted and the hole filled / painted. I have to say I do like my Corrado's fairly unmolested but the back end does look so much nicer and cleaner with the wiper deleted!

That was such a stupid mistake to make - not sure what they were thinking. I'm pretty sure it'll be one of the best cameras on any smart phone out there.. well apart from the 41MP one on their PureView 808 handset! :)

This is great, great news. Always dreamed of owning a modern muscle car here in the UK... I'd be thrilled if they were vaguely affordable! If the Challenger I drove in the USA last week is anything to go by, the Mustang will be a real peach. Don't believe everything you read about handling and build quality.. the Americans have totally fixed that side of things! I was staggered at how well put together and high quality the Challenger felt.

I had a feeling this would be Guys old car. I have to say this was without doubt one of my all time favourite Corrado's in my early years in the CCGB.. and from what I saw it really was money no object on this thing. It had just about every single desirable modification you could do it and was absolutely immaculate. That was a while ago though - I'd be interested to know if it's still in the same kind of shape. What's baffling is that someone would buy a Corrado.. and not just any Corrado, but one tuned specifically for speed / performance. And then basically not use it for four years (advert says it's done 500 miles since he got it four years ago, and most of that was driving it home when he bought it) - I can't quite understand how some peoples minds work sometimes.

Oh FFS mate :( Is there any CCTV there so you can find out who did it and confront them? What a complete *******. Good luck getting it sorted :(

It's a minor gamble I accept but as I say, it's nice to have something that most people don't have. And there is now plenty of support from major applications - Facebook, Twitter, Spotify, etc.. I've not found myself being unable to do anything I've wanted to do.. all the support is there. And i'm sure we've disagreed about your feelings on security updates in the past but honestly as someone who runs / administers nearly 400 Windows servers, I simply don't find that's the case at all. Bloat and fragmentation will occur over time but I don't for one second feel that security updates slow the system down. We have servers which have been running for 6+ years with Windows 2003, that are taken down and patched every month without fail with the latest raft of updates and they run as well now as they did when they were put in :)

Well - exactly. It works out at 1,700 miles a year for petes sake. I did that sort of mileage on a single drive to Scotland this year in my Corrado! I had to extend my limited mileage policy and I think I even exceeded my limit just because I enjoyed using it so much. And it's not even a daily! :)

I'm quite into my Windows Phone at the minute.. it's a major improvement over the old days and nice to have something different to the iPhone and Android crowd.. Nokia just announced a couple of new Windows Phone 8 handsets that look great, specifically the Lumia 920 with a PureView camera (which looks amazing), wireless charging and a screen that works even with thick gloves on - i.e. doesn't just need you to use your finger. Some really nice features there. Just need to see what sort of price they want when it goes on sale now!

Good spot :)

Nurburg, Germany, Austria, Italy round trip?
Jim replied to StuartFZR400's topic in General Car Chat
I'm just down the road from where your folks live now mate! My Corrado is not on the road much any more, but keep an eye out for my daily which is a blue Octavia VRS Estate :) Regarding the ring, the only advice really is just drive within your limits, don't try to keep up with other people, and make sure you watch what's coming up behind you at all times... you wouldn't believe how quickly fast cars catch up with you and are all over your chuff! And remember if you crash, insurance won't touch you... and you'll have to pay for any damage you cause to the track which can be very very expensive. I'm not trying to put you off but just mentioning things that I never gave any consideration to the times when I went round, and which might have made me think twice before going on had I known! I think to be honest those who are going for the very first time are in the best position as generally they give it the respect it deserves and don't just go at it flat out... I think a few laps gets you feeling comfortable and perhaps familiar and that's when mistakes are made! -
Regarding a sale price for your Corrado I'd guess it must be worth £3,000 if indeed it's really clean / straight.

I guess I'd only echo what's been said here - I totally understand your dilemma! A Supercharged V8 AMG Merc is right up my street but be under no illusion about potential running costs here.. I'm sure you could regularly run up garage bills into the thousands if anything goes wrong with it. Is there no way you could look to store the Corrado and just run the Merc for 6-12 months to get it out of your system, then get rid? If you already have a VX, I simply don't see how the Corrado can compete in the company of those two cars.. I'd be shot of the Corrado in a heartbeat.

Very nice - welcome aboard :)

Nurburg, Germany, Austria, Italy round trip?
Jim replied to StuartFZR400's topic in General Car Chat
How's it going Stuart? :) You can get to the ring in a day no problem and it really is worth the visit but make sure you research what days it's open if you intend to take your car round as it's not open for public use every day. If you want a fantastic guesthouse right near the Nurburgring I can highly recommend the Guesthouse Pitzen: http://www.fewo-pitzen.de/ - it's immaculately kept, and very well run but the only thing is the language barrier so you may need to use an online translation system to email and book with her should you decide to! Good luck with your trip - it sounds excellent :) -
Just wait Tom - new iPhone is being announced on the 12th September, new Nokia devices being unveiled any day now and HTC about to announce new handsets in a few weeks too! Great time to be buying if you can just wait a few more weeks :)

I just read about this on Pistonheads.. terribly sad story but a great chance for the internet based car forums to show their strength. http://bbs.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-general-1/947972-losing-my-son-please-help.html If anyone is local and can make it, I'm sure it'd be a great day out with a wide variety of great cars, and would be a great gesture. I'm occupied that weekend otherwise I'd have definitely made the trip up in the Corrado. Cheers.

I find my iPhone gives me a solid two days with push email turned on - which is more than my HTC Desire ever managed, with push notifications disabled!

I guess you get different types of people. You get the real enthusiasts who like to install a trillian apps, customise their phone, make it do all sorts of stuff.. and then after a while you get bored of that crap and you just want a phone that works, is reliable, well designed, etc etc.. and being on the bleeding edge is less appealing. I guess I fall into that latter category. Don't get me wrong I know lots of technical people I work with who hate iPhones - but I honestly see more people who use them, especially for work, than any other handset. They're actually our standard issue phones at work now.. you can basically have a cheapo £20 Nokia if you need a basic phone and then it's the different tiers of iPhone depending on what your department wants you to pay for. The main reason is it works with Exchange really well which other handsets don't necessarily do.. though to be fair our department haven't properly evaluated Windows Phones yet. dr_mat is right though. I don't agree with the business practices of Apple - they are greedy brats who're getting very complacent now that they're raking in so much money from iPads and iPhones. I'd be more than happy to see some more disruption in the market and see things change around a bit, to wake them up and knock them from their high horse!

You don't half post some utter BS mate. As someone who works in IT and has done for 15 years, I would say hand on heart for someone who wants a great quality product which just works, the iPhone is hard to beat. Yes, a lot of people do buy them as fashion accessories and because everyone else buys them - but the iPhone is completely responsible for the innovation that's now happening in the smart phone market. Before the iPhone came out, all the main companies were resting on their laurels and doing nothing.. the iPhone came out and totally shook them all up. They also know how to handle customer service well - all the people I've known who've had problems with their iPhones have walked into Apple stores, and walked out soon after with new handsets - no questions asked. It's worth paying for that kind of service. I'm totally impartial and in fact own an iPhone 4 (work phone), HTC Mozart (which runs Windows Phone 7.5) and my outgoing handset is an HTC Desire (Android). As a nice, easy to use, all round package for someone who just wants a phone that works the iPhone is the best by far. Windows Phone has exceeded my expectations but is still missing a lot of features. It's true the iPhone doesn't have the very latest tech but seriously who gives a crap? Like a dual core processor in a phone isn't enough?! And if you think that most consumer electronics aren't made in gigantic chinese sweatshops, and only Apple exploit workers in this way, then you really need to wake up. Foxconn make products for hundreds of other companies, and indeed production of components for iPhone are outsourced to many other companies - like Samsung! So if Samsung treat their employees well, then by proxy, Apple treats it's employees well ;)

Good luck with it. At least the ISV is easy to change on a valver! :) Tempest had to replace the ISV on his Porsche 928 recently and it was an utterly horrendous job!
-
Precisely. Presumably stuff such as brake lines will all still corrode as they're still being exposed to air / moisture, and pipework in the engine bay will be perishing at the same sort of rate.
-
It's a tough one but it could be the ISV. When you did have your foot on the throttle (in between it cutting out!) did it accelerate normally? It could well be the ISV. Keep your eye on eBay for a good / pre-owned one. The VR6 one also fits / works fine on the 2.0 16v and you should be able to pick up a good working one for £20 or so. New ones cost so much, it's worth going through a few used ones!

These sorts of adverts don't half bug the hell out of me. Top money for a Corrado, and barely any information on spec, any work that it's had done, etc etc.
