Body shops in the Warwick Leamington Kenilworth
Jim replied to Hatton VR6's topic in Suppliers Forum
Manhattan Motors in Earlsdon (Coventry) are excellent - though often have quite a substantial lead time, depending on what work needs doing unfortunately :( -
Have you tried sending a PM to '8vMatt' on here? He had a whole batch of new headlight switches manufactured and they work fantastic. Not sure if he has any left in stock or not. Alternatively, VW Heritage have them at a slightly toe curling £73: https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/corrado/535941531F/headlight-switch-for-corrado-uk-spec-92-95/?crumbStartPage=2&crumbStartRow=18 (Matt's only cost about £25!)

They may not even be aware of it I suppose. Also in my case, I helped out a CCGB member who's hose had split after they'd driven to Coventry (for Motofest earlier this year) - luckily it was on a Saturday, so drove over to Stealth and took my existing hose off my car whilst it was mid-way through the rebuild... so they didn't actually have the old hose available to them, to take the non-return valve out of.

It's one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251270362764 Alloy mini type - only thing I'm not sure about is the size.. can't remember if it was the 6 or 8mm version. Pretty sure it's 8mm :)
-
LOL. Well really appreciate you doing that - glad to finally understand how I need to install the non return into number 2 in the diagram, and flow direction is towards the throttle body. I'll get that installed now :)
-
This is going to make me sound like an idiot but... I'd rather ask the question and get clarification, than do something stupid and burst pipes in my engine bay :) I'm still none the wiser :) I've got an aftermarket non-return valve to fit so I need to know which pipe it goes onto as you stand looking at it, and which direction the coolant is flowing when the system is running so I know which direction the non-return needs to face. I've attached a picture with the throttle body from a different model VR6 but... has the same inlet / outlet..
-
Pretty sure it wasn't done on mine. I get the sound of water gurgling from behind the dash when I put the ignition on after the car has been sat for a while. I bought the non-return valve suggested by Jim Bowen on here but wasn't sure which way round it needed installing and onto which pipe so haven't fitted it yet!
-
There is a non return valve in one of the pipes that goes to the throttle body. You will need to extract that and transfer it into the new pipes!
-
Got a set of these too and very happy with them. I did go for their jubilee clips in the end too and again all seems well.
-
This is exactly my problem. No power to the building either, so impossible to trickle or solar charge :(
-
Agreed. 2 months is an eternity for one of these cars without being used. The battery will be totally dead by then. I've a hefty Bosch Silver fitted to mine, even at 3-4 weeks without use and kept out of the elements in a garage, cranking can be a bit of a gamble. Only just fired the other day and sounded like it was right at the point of giving up! If I leave my VR for any significant period of time I just disconnect the battery. ECU seems to re-learn values and settle down pretty quickly.

Welcome :) Fond memories of my 2.0 16v's... that 16v engine is an absolute tank if looked after properly!
-
Come on.. it's not a telling off - just letting them know that information like this has come up lots of times before and it might enable them to find quicker answers to problems in the future rather than waiting for a response from someone!
-
Please be sure to search the forum for answers to future problems.. this is one of the most common / classic Corrado problems :) The forums built in search is pretty junk, but you can search the site using Google... if you search on using the following syntax: site:the-corrado.net So for example: site:the-corrado.net broken door handle You should find a wealth of threads to help you :)

That was a brief return to ownership, Rog! :(
-
Welcome. Nice find! Certainly looks like it belongs there :) Plenty on eBay for next to nothing as well!
-
If you can find an example of what you mean, I'm sure we could look to produce some new stickers in the style you're after. We're always open to suggestions for new merchandise ideas. If you want to PM me we can take it 'offline' and see what we can do? I can get in touch with the merchandise manager.

Pretty much what has been said. Not many around these days so you are going to want to be patient unfortunately. Don't buy one of the overpriced examples from the traders out there at 8-9k.. they're just not worth it. Wait and hopefully you can land on a nice enthusiast owned example for a maximum of 3k.

Really surprised this hasn't sold. Seems a good price for a leather interior!
-
Nice work! Good to see someone putting the effort in to keep a valver on the road - they never get enough love!
-
That also surprised me. I'm really no prude, but Top Gear is / was a family show with just a slight edge to it. When Hammond said "****!" and other similar things were said, I was pretty surprised and disappointed.
-
I was mildly underwhelmed to be honest. The new Stig sucks too. I mean, is his only pun going to be that everything non-American is communist? Yawn.
-
Price? Location?

He tends to know what he is talking about :)

If it's any consolation my 2.0 16v always read high on water temp but it never felt that hot in the engine bay. Nor were there any other obvious symptoms of it cooking! It could just be a dodgy sensor or bad wiring somewhere. May be worth picking up one of those infrared laser temp probes and getting th car up to temp then seeing whether the pipes match the kind of temperature it's suggesting. May also be worth a coolant change, if that's not been done in a while. What sort of colour is the coolant in the expansion tank?
