  1. Noticed a leak last week and power steering fluid level was low. Took the car to the local garage and they identified the leak is coming from the pipes on the steering rack. Also mentioned that they steering rack itself looks pretty corroded (although there are no knocks so don't think it has given up just yet). So where can i get the pipes from or do you have to get a whole new rack? Also someone was telling me about some sort of sealant (similar to rad seal) for steering rack? Has anyone used this and do you think it would work on the actual pipes? Cheers Krish
  2. This weekend gone i attempted to tighten my handbrake. Firstly how do you remove the plastic trim that runs from the actual handle? I couldn't get it off so couldn't actually remove the plastic surrounds without a bit of force which has damaged said plastic trim. Still managed to get to the actual nuts but one of them snapped off. If you looking at where the cable ends there are 2 nuts. A fatter one followed by a normal size one. It is the end of the cable that has snapped. So the fatter nut is still secured. The handbrake seems to be tighter but im a bit weary of the snapped end. Is it ok to leave as is or should i replace the whole cable? I always leave the car in gear so not worried about it rolling down the road or anything.
  3. Signed up. Was a struggle to get within budget though.
  4. I think all of them please. Did i hear you saying your going to DG on Sunday? Is that DG Autoteck? I ask as im in birmingham this weekend so if it is them could come pick up the pipes tomorrow.

  11. Ah more joys. The top ones are so bad that they rounded the second i touched them with a screw driver. Guess will have to drill them out. Where is the 3rd screw located? And how exactly do you drill out the screws? Thankfully i was just wanting to upgrade the bulbs as opposed to them having blown.

    VR6 ISV help

Under the rear ignition lead carrier engine cover to the inboard side of the throttle body. Cover needs to be removed to access. . So is it easy to remove? I assume just a couple of nuts/botls to undo? I plan on taking it out completely and giving it a proper clean.
  13. Ok whats the trick to changing bulbs over? I thought it would have been a simple change but it looks like you need kid hands to change over. Do i need to take the headlight out (which is going to be a bit troublesome as the screws at the top have rusted away  Any help appreciated. Thanks Krishen
  14. Unfortunately i bought mine with my heart instead of my head. Not enough research resulted in head gasket going on the first day i picked her up. spent £1k on her only to find the underside was not in good shape. Another £1200 to sort that out (new bushes, suspension etc) and she drives better than alot of newer cars out there. Have the same issue, with family and friends telling me to get rid, but a) ive put alot of money into her so need to get some use out of her and b) the noise and smile it puts on my face is well worth it. Try explaining that to them but they just don't get it :cuckoo:

    VR6 ISV help

  16. It wasn't a new Tyre but still had a little thread left (about 3mm). Just glad it wasn't on a motorway or at speed. Where do people buy tyres from? Anyone know of any special offers going?
  17. The problem is have no idea how a tyre could have got so bad. RAC guy reckoned i must have gone over some bit of metal and its shredded the tyre :confused4:
  18. Had to go into the office yesterday. As i parked up noticed that the rear nearside tyre looked a bit flat. Come out hours later and the tyre looks very flat. So drive to petrol station (less than a mile up the road). Try to put air in but the tyre refuses to inflate. Air compressor was working as other people came and used it no problems. So decided id have to get the space saver out. Its about midnight at this point. First obstacle was taking the damn wheel bolt covers off. After i managed to do that had to rearrange my boot (have a sub) to get the spacesaver out with the jack. Tried to undo the bolts but no matter how hard they refused to budge. Sprayed wd40 still nothing. So had to cave in, put my pride to one side and call the RAC. Lady asks what the problem is and i have to tell her i can't take the wheel bolts off :help: Anyway 2 hours later the RAC man pitches up. Blatently giving my the look as though im an imbecile. HE takes out his breaker bar to undo the bolts but they wont budge. Had to use the breaker bar plus another pipe like contraption with me sitting with my foot on the brakes just to undo them. And low and behold the reason why the tyre would not inflate :epicfail: http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k59/k ... G_0475.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k59/k ... 19. My fm reception is not that great. I was just wondering if i buy an booster/amp for the aerial that fits at the head unit end would that help cure the issue? Or do i need to replace the base/by-pass the amp as mentioned in other threads? Cheers Krish
  20. Ah ok. Just me thinking in clever (never a good idea). Guess I'll have to check out the state of the belt. Is it dangerous to drive? What say if the belt snapped. Would it just mean I have no power steering? Or worse?
  21. Am i missing a bolt here? It looks like it may have snapped. This is the bit in the pic above where you are using a long bolt (red arrow) http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k59/k ... G_0436.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k59/k ... G_0435.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k59/k ... G_0434.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k59/k ... 22. Have just checked the fluid. It is a little below the min level but you can still see it in the container. How easy/hard is it to adjust the belt? And if i drive it as it is currently, not going to damage anything am i (apart from maybe the belt)?
  23. Ive had greenstuff in the past and they were good enough. Now running reds and they seem fine. As mic_vr says they don't give great confidence when just touching the brake pedal but give some pressure and they stop you pretty quick.
