    60mm drop!

kip the only thing to add is that vw spent time making sure it was an every day car! that doesn't mean it can't be improved with a different setup! i would agree that in this case a damper change along with springs is the right move or coilovers made to not just lower but provide a good setup is the best option!
  2. sure i am saying nothing more! secret is safe! :ignore:
  3. Jim i know you got plans and all will be good! i look forward to sharing the same road as you! mind i think i may have trouble keeping up if you go the way you want! :D
  4. vicky the engine looked great at BVF, i think your doing a great job! what did you use to get the grud of the gearbox apart from elbow grease?
  5. to you too! sorry! i do love your charger! :D
  6. reading through the thread, you got some good replies! my first question is; are you qualified to do the work yourself? mistakes on install can be expensive! well if you can then jim's assessment on the cost is pretty close! if you can't you are going to have to factor in a lot more money my guess is at least x 2 based on your cars mileage! fitting either turbo or sc is going to show up any problems with your engine really quick. either turbo or sc will require some re-build of the engine to begin with. once you open the engine up you can count on finding things that will need to be done, more money. turbo will require a lot more to be done than sc. easy example would be an up-rated clutch which will mean you might as well do the timing chains, more money! i have driven both turbo and sc. of the two the turbo is without doubt the quicker as both bhp and torque are greater! can you use all that bhp and torque through the front wheels? well no not all the time sure racelogic makes it more manageable but kills the extra bhp and torque to do it! I am not saying turbo is not the way to go! I think its a great option and one i nearly took. I decided for sc for two reasons one is I think in an old engine it is going to need more maintenance, more money and second was a personal liking for sticking with what VW were into at the time the car was made! good luck with your choice its a great one to have!
  7. nice pictures kris love the sky shot! :D it was good to meet you!
  8. Thanks for the comment, you know i still have a lot to do to catch-up with a lot of people. there are some lovely cars out there! It was Jim who was asking and i was just ribbing him! he had the SC before me. first impressions: first drive was with Dave from DG we nipped down the road for a spin and i was a little easy with the right foot to begin with, but the power delivery is very progressive and controlled. although dave did say that i was supposed to be breaking the pads in on the new 288 which make a big difference. when i got the car back home took it for a really good spin wow this thing is quick(my last car was a supercharged s-type jag with 400bhp) I guess sitting lower and in an older car add to the impression of speed! i have to say DG have done a great job and made it really useable rather than outright raw! yeah you can get wheel spin through most of the gears if really pushed(but not excessive) its much better at getting the power down than others i have tried! the engine is much quicker through the rev range and you can red line it really quick! but it is easy to keep in the power range from a standing start and the noise is addictive! at speed say 50mph put your foot down in 5th and acceleration is noticeably better than standard but change down and its fantastic! car is going back on friday or saturday to check things out! only one small probs so far the cooling mist system has a small leak but should be quick fix! Hope that gives you an idea! :D thanks for the tip on the tag had forgot all about it!
  9. lol that's how much extra "fun" you get strapping a charger on. I'm sure he's having too much atm to do us a massive write up. Hint. ok, what do you want a write up on? as the build is almost totally covered in the thread, i don't want to think you are a lazey ba....d, i also don't want to brag about how good the car is running, or how much i am enjoying myself! i can tell you that judith has done something to my head! after watching her clean her car all weekend at BVF i seem to have caught some sort of bug? cleaning everything around my shiny supercharger, only to move on to polishing the inlet manifold and supercharger even though they are shiny!!!! :confused4: it is looking better though, judith don't look!!
  10. wow the paint job turned out fantastic! :shades: loving it bet you are well happy!
  11. After watching Judith clean her car throughout the weekend, either its catching or i just felt bad about my engine bay. Spent the afternoon cleaning it!

  19. forum names? Jon i have to be quicker!
  20. just note the adhesive has a shelf life! you will need an alcohol cleaner for the glass prior to using the adhesive, but this may come with thhe adhesive! the original button is bonded with a 3m adhesive but you need an auto-clave (vacuum and heat machine) to bond it!
  21. Cheers for the comments! i think the arches are going to need doing if i want the car sitting where i want it! i have one more trick to try which has worked on the lads car if that don't work then will have to look at getting them done.. no idea want the engine is putting out but its fr**king fast! power has been set up for very smooth delivery! very impressed with what Dave has done on the set up. :notworthy: have not run her in anger yet, waiting for the right moment, but i am sure it will not be long! acceleration is amazing.. wheel spin not too bad to manage so well happy!
