you could G60 it.. but the turbo will let you rev it a lot higher. if you G60 it you'll have to use a 72mm pulley at the smallest if you want to take it to redline . . . safely. thats just fine, but its less low-down torque than you'd get with a 65mm or 68mm... 62mm  if it was me.. i'd turbo it. dazzy is right, the list goes on and on.. as it does for pretty much any stock car.. but none of that stuff is cheap or really a 'bolt-on'. you should sit down and really think about what kind of power you're looking to make, and what combination of mods will achieve that power, and be somewhat cost-effective. research, research, research. watch all the forums/lists and see that other guys are doing.. can't hurt.

i'll be goin to stoner park on sunday for sure.. don't think we're talkin about the same thing tho..... :Fade-color snap some pics daz! wooo! gotta love dubbin ladies!!

do it jim! you know you wanna! good point darren. but if you want a 1500Ib car, get the mk1 :) then if you want it to run stupid fast times, put a turbo in it. the lag from a turbo will allow the lightweight car to hookup off the line, then slam you with a wave of boost once you're already rollin.. as opposed to the G60 or other supercharger setup that'll leave you smokin on the line in such a light ride. mk1 GTi, 20v head, ABA block, t3/t4 turbo = my next 'project'.. not gonna happen anytime soon!!

poorrelation: from what ive heard there isn't a whole lot you can do to the 16v without spending a fair bit of cash. you could buy a set of cams and a chip.. ive heard that helps a lot, but ive also heard it isn't worth the $$. nitrous.. :) TURBO :D

i haven't seen anyone's car in person, so its hard to judge.. so i'll say i like MINE cuz i'm feckin off early from work to put it all back together and i'll be rollin on sunday when the insurance kicks in! wooo!!! 500km charger break in with my new sns stage 3, then uppin the fueling and droppin in the sns 5-5 waiting on my desk. can't wait. ..from what i've seen online, i like darren and ant's cars a lot... and that 16vG60 out of PD (sorry, forgot the name) has got to be a riot to drive! for looks, i like darren's the best. -
..well thats you. i'll read that later chuck, bit busy right now.. but it looks like a good write-up. thanks.

ahahah. we have temps like that all summer, and this is canada. you guys are hilarious. take a trip to mexico.. or better yet, el salvador. i had a friend down in el salvador in january, he said it never dropped below 15 celsius and it got up to the high 20s a couple times.. in *january*. my girl's family is from vietnam. not uncommon to have a 45 celsius summer day there. whats it like in spain nigel? "car is shite in this weather" tell me about it. i need a charge cooler!!! ..with an ice tank under the back armrest to keep some brews in, oh, and for intake cooling! ya, intake cooling... -
so it looks like its standard for all vws except bug. i'll give british american transfer (BAT) a call... they import mocal to north america. thanks.
-
that plate you used, do you have a source/part number? i'm still trying to find a plate with a stat that'll fit my car, the one in the pic looks perfect.. thanks

..ok so i was wrong. i was told the new 3-fin rallye design was just as non-restrictive as the bbm rsr outlet. however, here are the numbers for inner diameter, draw your own conclusions.. INNER DIAMETER rallye: ~2.97" (i measured this myself, its just a hair under 3") bbm rsr: 3.22" (from BBMs blueprints) i have an rsr on the way from the states and i'm returning my rallye. doesn't make a lick of difference if you have a stock diameter outlet on the charger, but if your outlet is uber ported like mine, you'll need the rsr or you'll need to port the rallye wider. dave at kk tried porting the rallye for me and smoked a hundred dollar cutting bit.. because the rallye is sand-cast aluminum. there is a guy selling ripoffs of bbm's rsr outlet on the vortex. i haven't dealt with him personally, but i have been cautioned to stay away from him. his name is joeZX6. ok, i think i covered everything i've found out. i hate returning shit :x

you're sourcing them in the UK eh lee? not the states? if they're comin from the states i'll want in on this.. if not, there's no point for me. thanks

"That's outrageous!!! How can they justify £575 labour?" lol! its a corrado! how can i tell you two are new to rado ownership?? :D ..sorry, sorry! i was once in the same place as you guys, give it a couple years and thousands of dollars and you'll see what i mean. it all came into perspective when someone told me "it's a feckin porsche man!" ..the speed, the looks, the cost. there are two ways to maintain your car. A) go to the shop, bring your lube B) source the parts and tools you need yourself, find a friend who knows his head from his ass, dig in! for the bigger jobs, like the rear axle bushes, pay the shop labour to do it.. but you're still better off buying the parts yourself and showing up at the shop with them. don't just accept your fate and bend over!

nigel you crazy bastid you erased my posts!! :2gunfire: the neuspeed comes black but is easy enough to run a coat of paint over. mine is yellow right now.. might go with black or silver or something to match the car better... not sure about clearance, i have the later bonnet.
-
the one from D&W is nicer to look at than the neuspeed one imho, beefier too.. looks more secure.
-
i have one on my G60.. neuspeed makes one.
-
there is a dye that will do it.. i have no clue what it is. you could also pull out the carpet and cut its pattern onto a new chunk of nice plush black or dark grey to stick in.. you don't need to pull the dash out or anything. just a thought.
-
ya, i'm goin with summit for a/f as well... problem is that my current boost gauge is autometer... so i think i'll buy an autometer volts to match that on the a-pillar and stick the a/f somewhere else... not too sure where yet tho! i'd like to have it in a discrete spot so its not blinkin me to death all night.. but i want it visable when i'm comin up to redline so i can make sure its not goin lean. do you find that the summit pisses you off with the flashin lights?
-
check the condition of the wiring. a lot of it runs under the battery and tends to get beat to shit. i'm in the process of soldering in all new uprated headlight wiring this week.
-
what gauges are you using? i have a boost gauge on the a-pillar but i'm going to be buying an air/fuel and volts in the next couple weeks.. just curious if anyone has found the need for yet another different type of gauge.
