i'm in the exact same boat man.. alarm this week, along with fixing the central locking glitch on the passenger side. just got my charger back from full rebuild and porting. i'm going to shave my door handles instead of switch handles, roughly the same cost. my tranny decided to blow the 3rd gear synchro and the heater core let go just before i stored it for the winter. believe me, you're not alone! :? we have enough money to spend as it is, we dont need some filthy bastid to hack up our doors with a screwdriver

problem with GPC is i still have to ship it across the water and that will make it about the same cost as i can buy one for over here.. $300 canadian. the bumper that i want is from rauscher tuning.. they're price is 473,00 EUR incl. and in canadian cash that's $770.46. then i still need to worry about shipping on top of that. expensive business this is...

if anyone is fitting angel eyes... or for whatever other reason has a set of regular corrado headlights to get rid of, please let me know, i'm looking for a set in good condition. :D
-
if its the standard radio removal metal..uhhh.... thingies, that vw use for their radios... those things get thrown out daily at the stealer since they get a set with every oem radio they put in. they'll probably give you a couple no problem.. they also throw out the little shelves that go in the space where the radio should be, if you have no radio.
-
its all in preparation and the paint you use. you need to scuff up the handles real good with course sand paper.. dont miss any spots... then you need to use proper paint for the plastic with the shit that makes the paint flexible. few coats of that and some clear and they should hold up just fine.

andi's the man :thumbleft:

is it all in one piece grim..or cut where the exhaust is? my 50mm is pretty rough too! either way i'm going to be doing a little work to it... problem is shipping big shit like that is a bitch.. :x
-
thats not all i'd be gettin! i need to save a good five grand before i come over there mate!!!
-
$290 + $15 shipping canadian. forget that. maybe i'll just fix the 50mm i have and paint it... blah :?
-
not too many.. but a few. i'm pretty careful...the car is slammed so i have to be. i want something different and a bit fatter than the stock one... but i dont like any of the aftermarket bumpers for corrado.. other than the rauscher RS... but they want crazy money for it and then id have to ship it from germany on top of that. i might have found a local guy who can get em.. i'm crossin my fingers

not sure if this is in the right section. i'm sure one of our trusty moderators can move it for me ;) i'm looking for a 90mm front lip to replace the 40mm or 50mm one i have, whatever it is. were these only available in europe? any way to get one over on this side of the water? how much do they cost over there? got the fiberglass bit done on the bumper last night, sand and putty tonight and i'll be ready to roll by the weekend (hopefully).. it'd be nice to have a lower spoiler on there!!

never been a huge fan of the first one.. the second won't come up :? if you're going for maximum cooling on the rad or whatever else you have behind the grill, i think the debadged 3-slat VR-style is about as good as you can get. grills like the TEC one, and even to some extent the oettinger that i have, all restrict the airflow since the available area for the air to travel through is only so big... then it gets cut down with all that fibreglass or plastic or whatever the grill is made of. my temps are ok, but if they ever get high its a 3-slatter for me. just something to consider if you have high temps.
-
i'm the opposite.. like the oettinger grill, not a fan of mesh. makes me think rice-rocket after seeing so much cheese meshing on those things.. :? that one on ebay is at $86 US and the reserve is met... thats cheaper than i thought they'd go for nowadays!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... egory=9889 i like the look of the stock G60 or VR6 grill, debadged. which type of grill exactly are you looking for scot? have a link to a picture?

A6 :thumb right:

 until the corrado electrical gremlims make it malfunction and you get toasted on your way to the store! lol! thats like the alarms that electrocute you if you sit down in the driver seat without disarming the alarm. i wouldn't trust that shit on a corrado!
-
when you do the bodywork, have some thick metal plates cut to size and welded on the inside of the door. screwdrivers aint gettin through that!!
-
get an oettinger grill :thumb right:
-
do you have an alarm that can trigger your central locking? if so.. you can buy an actuator kit that will open the latch on your doors through the keyfob for $30 (canadian).. which is about £15. ..then shave off your door handles and watch the look on that son of a bitches face when he tries that again!! 8)

personally... i think the filter on top of the valve cover looks 'butters'.. and i prefer the clean braided stainless line to the catch can.. not to mention that you'll save a lot of money in the long run on breather filters!!

REMOVING BOOST RETURN PIPES AND FITTING CONE FILTER IN WING?
G60 replied to brookescourt's topic in Engine Bay
lowG: without dropping the rad, i see no way in hell to squeeze an intake in anywhere around the rad. maybe i have an aftermarket rad that is larger than the stock one.. i dunno. car came with this rad and an electric fan. :? my rad is tight with the upper rad support, and tight with the bottom support... not even a cm of room there.. and the same goes on the sides.. no room at all except a small channel to left of the rad (when looking from the front) that is below the charger.. but there is a high-pressure a/c line there in a/c cars, like mine. do you mean this open bit of space where the a/c line would run? i could see this working, but its a pretty bendy path for the air to take, not sure if it would be much better than the almost 1m-long tube. this is also why i don't really like the idea of a rallye u-bend and front mount combo... very bendy path for the pressurized air to take compared to straight pipes and an air>water unit. i agree, running tube almost a meter long won't be ideal, but its better than taking the second intake from in the engine bay. you could always wrap it with heat resistant shit to stop a bit of the soak... the whole thing makes me wish vw designed it a little better.. :x -
REMOVING BOOST RETURN PIPES AND FITTING CONE FILTER IN WING?
G60 replied to brookescourt's topic in Engine Bay
julesz: i've thought about that filter on a tube thing.. only place really to run it is over to where the stock IC is, cut a hole like the carbon cannister hole.. and put it down there. problem is, the stock IC is in the way, so unless you move it or do something else for an IC.. the purpose of the boost return hose in the first place is for environmental consciousness i believe. can't think of another reason why vw would want to send that hot air back into the charger. you're right, it just vents the boost back into the charger when you don't use it. uhm.. the boost return hose returns the boost to the charger, the isv controls your idle, and also vents off boost above 0.8bar. take a look at the diagrams i posted on page 2 of this thread.. it will help explain where everything goes... take a look at the one i drew up with dual intakes... the isv gets routed back into the throttle body and boost return is just blown off into the atmosphere. -
here's my edit, hope you don't mind matt: Choose a Dub. Choose a G60. Choose a fu*king tiny pulley, port & polished head and custom mapped chip. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and a heavy right foot. Choose an understanding bird with a penchant for giving head on the M6 ( that one's my favourite matt!). Choose your friends. Win the lottery, buy em 911s and some track time. Choose an expensive retrim in cowhide and alcantara. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit crushing game shows, stuffing fu*king junk food into your mouth, wishing it werent raining so you could wax the rado. Choose some wide splits and slammed shocks. Choose to drive it like its your last day on earth, like you stole it! Choose a Dub. (i edited myself to save you guys the trouble jim & tom ;)) Edited: ;) only kidding mate. VR6

i'd be up for it if i was on that side of the water, for sure! G60Jet & vee_r6: i think maybe he means.. a ride-along in other people's cars to see how they feel.. not necessarily driving them yourself. scott: so does that mean you don't ever open it up on the open road? i see a track event as a chance to push the car as hard as i'd like to on a public road.. but i don't (usually  ) for safety reasons. it doesn't mean you redline every gear and plow into the corners on full brakes.. good luck bringin this together guys, i'm envious already! :? :)
-
i think the "Choose a fu**ing tiny pulley" bit makes it pretty G60 (or at least supercharged) specific! you 16v guys could say "choose some extreme cams" or for VR "choose a rewarding gas card program"!

so, if you shot that oil vapour into a catch can, you'd be better off?
