you need to pry the handle apart and unscrew that... it holds it together a fair bit. then, you need to pull the top part of the card away from the door... be careful not to break off the corner of the plastic triangle interior piece by the mirror like i just did a couple days ago ( :x :x :x ). then all that should be left is the two clips that the card rests on.. lift up and it should be free other than the wiring.

really?? you guys like the 3-slat over the oettinger? i always thought the oettinger was really sought after. i always wanted an oettinger grill before i got the C, and it turned out, the car i wanted had one fitted already! i've been contemplating over the past month or so.. goin back to a more stock looking front end.. G60 bonnet, debadged 3-slat.. now that i fucked my VR bonnet proper.. and i have a G60 bonnet coming tomorrow... may just be time for that 3-slat.. colour-keyed.

mine looks about like this, on 15s. my oil pan is only a few inches off the ground. i tried driving the car up on ramps yesterday to do some exhaust work... have the front end right off except the lower rad support, the ramps were still about 3 times too steep!!! ..hit the intercooler about 3 inches up the ramp. guessing i'm at about 80-90mm low.. 120mm is pretty extreme man! you'll have like 2 inches between the pavement and the oil pan!

yeah. if you can send a few over this way, id be up for it.

the engine.

wow. now THAT is mighty ugly (sorry james) Edit: Swearing (again ;)) VR

if you really want to know about VW gearing.. find G60ING on http://www.vwvortex.com or search for some of his gearbox posts there. he has ratios for the vast majority of VW gearboxes available.

how about adjusting the co_pot or retarding timing? are you trying to pass emissions?
-
thats what i thought tom... but didn't say nuttin cuz i've never driven a rado VR... and we don't have the 2.9L ones here in any car like you guys have over there.
-
make sure you have an O2 sensor hooked up, and make sure *it works*.
-
grugh: i don't have a VR.. but i agree on the G60 bit. however, if you're looking for that low-down grunt.. a G60 is more than capable, especially with a small pulley. 62mm on a ported charger will give loads of low-end torque, just don't take it past ~6000rpm. whatever you do.. stick with the corrado. whether its a VR or a G60 or a 16v, its a smokin ride that i'm sure you'll enjoy. :thumb right:
-
vr, you shit disturber. :2gunfire: :onfire: (what he doesn't mention is that all said and done, the vr/charger setup he proposes will end up costing you at least double including car cost and mod cost than a well-tuned G60..and the weight and weight-distribution is not as ideal as it is on the G60...if you're into cornering like a maniac)
-
G60s can romp VRs with under £500 in modifications. chip/pulley and you're pretty much up to par with a VR. air filter, exhaust, cam, ported charger, fuel pressure regulator... the VRs start to fade into the background. stock 1/4 miles are in the high 15s i believe. you can get down into 13s with some good mods.. 12s and beyond possible with nitrous and some serious $$$.

so who's getting more than 14.5 psi from there glader then ?
G60 replied to W3RKD's topic in Engine Bay
2bar eh? you're making 29psi with a 68mm pulley? lol! think they're feedin ya a line of shit man..or you to us. -
doubtful that any of that K&N oil would make it into the charger (unless you put it on the inside of the filter)... and if it did, it wouldn't make a lick of difference.

here's a thread on the vortex if anyone is interested http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=874853 and the thread about my stage 5-5 chip and what it can handle http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=871237 -

apparently the newer SNS chips 'guess' at what the boost is if its over 14.5psi as the build rate is linear.. still haven't got a solid answer from them yet for this one if my chip can handle it or not. sam told me the only way to check to make sure its setup correctly is a dyno run. still waiting to hear what danny has to say about it. -
gazza: you saw that rocco with a G60 and SNS soft limit on the vortrex didn't you? danny told me that's the only chip they've done the soft limit on, and that is because its strictly an autoX car. they're not putting the soft limit on our chips... they set the limiter to 7200rpm so you never have to use it.. use common sense instead (i know its hard sometimes!)
-
I'll be stumped if i know... thats what they told me.. thats what i thought tho.. i'm gonna ask sammy... Edit: Swearing (again) ;). VR
-
yyyeeezzzz... and i'm talking about a short intake path as well. not critical.. but an air>water unit right in the engine bay will have a quicker boost build rate than a front mount with a U-bend and almost double the length of piping.
-
i have no idea.. but you could have blown the gasket out. is this the first time you've checked in 3 weeks since you had it serviced? it would help to know if it did it right away after leaving the service... or if it just started today..

"5-5 is for 30# injectors, with up to a 268 cam. It works well with a 260 as well. adjust the WOT switch so it does not engage. Good for down to 62mm pulley." that is what danny (jwatts) from SNS told me about my stage 5-5 chip when i asked. that is the standard coding they use... could be different for UK spec though. never know..
