..that rallye u-bend has no chance of working with an a/c compressor down there does it? :x
-
where's your rad gone darren? did you really drop it down almost to the ground? i can see right through the grill, it looks like the rad wouldn't fit in the space below that i can't see... is it a different rad than stock? :?
-
dont cheap out on your plugs.. really.
-
i wish i'd have been there for that.. i'd have given you two a good run, but while you both stopped for petrol i'd be rollin with a half tank to spare  sorry, couldn't resist :D
-
i got edited again  what happened to free speech eh?!! what is this, iraq?!!?! i know my c can outrun RICE rockets!
-
..hows iraq lookin these days??

"if you leave it standing for 2 days or longer it'll drain your battery" not if you rig up an alarm that auto-starts the car for a few mins when the battery starts to get low. the pigs over here are busy driving around in minivans tryin to bust guys with washer nozzle lights and not enough space between tyre and wheel well. un-bloody-believable i say. i'm movin to cuba. :x Edit: Swearing

the awd must even up the weight difference in the two.. who needs back seats and spare tyres dubcharged???

no way you'd get 200bhp with just chip and pulley... chip and pulley alone are a huge improvement, definitely noticable... but not that much. however, i've heard that a chip and pulley is all that you need to keep up with a VR. you'd probably need 3.5bar fpr, cold air intake, exhaust, and a modified or different intercooler. cam would help..so would a ported charger. you'd be at minimum 200bhp then. hey ant, your G60 is puttin out 202bhp eh? whats your setup? keep in mind.. 200bhp is only about 165-180hp at the wheels.

must be another one rado.. yours maybe? can you take a pic inside the hood of the second intake?? -
215 will fit on the stock width rims? i'm guessing a lowered car, 205s or 215s on stock rims and 30mm spacers would cause some harsh rub... or is it not too bad? thanks
-
ok don't flame me first of all!! i want a wide stance to help with handling but i like my rims and i don't want to put out some cash that i don't have for properly offset rims to fill up the wheel wells. so i want some spacers. anyone done this, or know what size a spacer is required to bring the stock width rims out to the edge of the wheel well? i've posted some pics of what i'm lookin for. thanks :)

no probs... i thought i was missing something

someone made up a checklist of everything to look for when buying a corrado. anyone have a link to it? can't remember where that was, but if no one has it i'll go looking for it.... if its a G60 you're after (good choice :thumb right: ) the biggest thing to make sure of is the condition of the supercharger. if the car is over 50,000km (you'll be hard-pressed to find one thats not) the charger will either have been rebuilt, or you're going to want to have it rebuilt soon after your purchase, just to be safe. if the seller says its been rebuilt, dont believe it unless there is official documentation of it, receipts, etc. if you're not convinced it has been properly rebuilt, if at all, then drop your offering price by the cost of a rebuild. the guy who sold me my G60 said the charger had been rebuilt, but didn't have any documentation. i believed him, and bought the car... he was telling the truth... it had been rebuilt using the quality parts... but without documentation i don't know how long ago this was, and i had no proof at all until the charger was cracked open... the only way to be sure the bearings and other internals are sound is to rebuild it fresh again, its not something i want to gamble with.. nor should any G60 owner. i just had mine completely rebuilt. you're lookin at about a grand US. some people say don't get a G60 because of the maintenance cost, or they are unreliable or whatever... the charger rebuild issue is the major concern. other than this, the car is very reliable and very enjoyable as long as it is well-maintained. good luck in your search, wait for a nice one to come along!

REMOVING BOOST RETURN PIPES AND FITTING CONE FILTER IN WING?
G60 replied to brookescourt's topic in Engine Bay
hey rob. "Does a cone filter in the wing get much more air than one in the standard airbox position? Is it really much more efficient than the standard airbox?" yes, especially if you set it up so the air is RAMMED into the filter. more colder air = more power. a high-flow panel filter in the air box with cold air ducting ramming air in through the carbon cannister hole would be pretty good too.. but i don't have a stock airbox to hack up "Is it safe to vent the boost return pipe to air?" yes. i'd either put a breather filter on it or some sort of screen to keep shit out. it won't ever suck in.. but just to be safe. it sounds like your best bet for dual intakes is to run the second one down into the stock IC location... like in the #2 option above. let us know how it goes. :) -
REMOVING BOOST RETURN PIPES AND FITTING CONE FILTER IN WING?

stormseeker: ya man, thats my next mod 295-100R40 rubber  dubcharged: thanks :D i was worried paint would look cheap, but it doesn't at all, i'm well pleased with the job dave did! "think about it: How much do Jabba charge for the R1?? which is increasing the inlet of the charger by a couple mill. Twin inlets increases the inlet area by 100%!!! Just gotta make sure you draw cold air in!" exactly. i was going to get the intake ported, but whats the point?? there is so much more air available, and a better distribution of it within the charger, when you run a second intake. once you do that, the charger has more air than it'll ever need. only problem is, where to get that second shot of cold air. the stock location is no problem, through the carbon cannister hole.. but the second intake is a little tricky. i see three options (i have a small electric rad fan, not that huge stock fan)... 1) drop the rad a few inches and bring the air in above the rad, right into the charger. this is the best solution in my mind because of the direct shot into the charger with hardly any piping. potential problem is heak soak. i thought dropping the rad wouldn't be too difficult, but it seems a real bitch now that i have the front of the car off and i'm trying to sort it out. darren dropped the rad down on his G60... care to elaborate darren?? 2) battery to the trunk, the stock intercooler replaced with a front mount or air>water unit... and then run the second intake through a hole cut similar to the carbon cannister hole, but on the other side of the engine bay down into the area that the stock IC was in. good solution... but i don't have the cash or time right now to move the intercooler, piping, etc, and do a good job of it.. and i'd rather not move the battery to the trunk. 3) hood scoup, right at the front of the bonnet. this would work great... same potential heat soak problem as dropping the rad due to the location of the filter box right behind the rad. the upper rad hose would be in the way... and i don't want to mess up the rado's clean lines with a hood scoup. so.......for now i think i'll just be blocking off the second intake until i can afford some serious front-end modification... probably a new IC setup. anyone else have a solution for dual cold air intakes? i've thought about this long and hard and i can't come up with anything else.. seems other people are having the same problem with it. what's better? one cold ram air intake and the other intake blocked off...or one cold ram air intake and one hot intake from the engine bay? :? its too bad they didn't come out of karmann with two intakes!!! ..save us all this trouble  -

:shocked!: shit! i knew something was missing!!! (i'm doin some craziness to the front end ;)) -
ya, id say 16v for you.. jims16v is right on :thumbleft: you can always turbo or G60 the 16v when you get the cash.. not sure what the laws are over there.. but a lot of times you can get away with shit like that over here without anyone knowing the difference. good luck... keep some money in your wallet for after you get the car, you'll need it.

REMOVING BOOST RETURN PIPES AND FITTING CONE FILTER IN WING?
G60 replied to brookescourt's topic in Engine Bay
dubster: thats the procedure when you're reinstalling a freshly rebuilt charger after a rebuild.. if it hasn't been prepped with oil on the bearings. it is not necessary to do this every time you start the car. some people may say that the oil from the valve cover breather helps lube the charger, but i'd say that the benefits of this oil vapour are minimal to none... the detrimental effects of recirculating hot air through the charger constantly is far far worse imho. here's some pics for ya, now i gotta run... my girl's gettin pissed at me payin more attention to boost than her  this should sort ya out... dammit... why won't it let me post to the server?!!? arrgh!!! :x ok, the long way...... i drew this one up with with dual intake. the boose return gets vented to the atmosphere, the isv gets rerouted back into the throttle body and the second intake on the charger is now available for a second filter. -

i have 'the new volkswagen corrado' book that VW of America published, it illustrates a fair bit of the corrado-specific stuff. i'll try to take some scans at work tomorrow to show you... it really helps trying to make sense of it all. -
REMOVING BOOST RETURN PIPES AND FITTING CONE FILTER IN WING?
G60 replied to brookescourt's topic in Engine Bay
well.. you dont route it back into the intake manifold because then you'd be under constant boost.. which you really don't want. it'd probably be really jerky and rough running.. you'd get bad fuel economy since it would always be matching the fuel to the extra air. the only time you want to eliminate blow off is when you start to giver.. which is what the TB butterfly does, it closes to elimate blow-off. as you give more gas the butterfly closes gradually until you're at wide open throttle, at which point it closes completely... eliminating any blow off and taking complete advantage of the boost available. the second intake is on the right side of the g-lader intake casing, where the boost return pipe normally goes. you eliminate the boost return piping, vent that to atmosphere. then rig up a second intake pipe and filter to the open right side of the g-lader. the intake holes are the same size on both sides.. almost like vw designed it to be dual intake :thumb right:
