  1. had a rough day... what better lift the spirits than getting news back about my uber-ported charger! :D word from dave is that 'its the best work we've done', better than their own chargers. these guys kick ass! i've attatched some pics.. keep in mind 90% of the work he's done, you can't see, its inside the charger :thumbleft:
  2. they did sell fairly well over here, moreso in the states than in canada. prices are generally a little higher for a similar corrado in canada than in the states due to exclusivity. i have no idea, but i wouldn't be surprised if there are at least 25,000-30,000 of them on this continent.
  3. i wouldnt trust any shop that gives you a quote without seeing the car. im from canada, or id tell you to get my friend to do it. good luck.
  4. i just have the isv routed back into the intake, like the bbm setup. thinkin about takin the isv out completely when i rip out the boost return garbage. actually lowG, as far as north american corrados are concerned, the isv bleeds off all boost over 12psi.. not sure if its the same for european spec. something about keeping all the cars even or something odd like that. so any setup that should be able to produce over 12psi will benefit from this.. as well as people who have a faulty isv. i dont see the benefit of a double check valve... check valves are cheap, just replace it every now and then if you notice you're not making as much boost.
  5. wont let me in to your pics.. says im not the owner of the album. i went with the black paint job too lowG :vamp:
  6. charger made its way to kk early yesterday morning, dave cracked it open and the internals are all good :D it had been rebuilt previously, and whoever did it used 'the good stuff'. when they put it back together, an apex seal shifted and so that caused a bit of a problem, which would have eventually been a big problem.. but dave caught it so now its all good. side note to new G60 owners: this is why you get your charger rebuilt even if you think its fine.. mine was puttin out 12psi with a cracked silencer box.. and it was still a bit messed up inside. check out the pics.. you can see the scuffs starting on the displacer. EDIT: in a dumbass move by dave he's deleted all my pics, and does not have backups. :x :x dave says now he's halfway done: torn down, cleaned, porting on pulley side casing, prep'd the outside casing, now still have to knife edge the outlet and reassemble, rallye outlet is as matched as it can be, it smoked a $100 cutting bit.  hehehe. he says he should have it back to me for this weekend... must say, thats unbelievable customer service. :) i just need to decide what finish i want.........
  7. the only part of their comparison that actually compares the rsr to the rallye is "The BBM RSR outlet has far less back pressure restriction than the RALLY GOLF adapter outlet" the rest of it is comparing it to the stock silencer box.. hmmm... i wonder why their worded it that way??? the restriction that they refer to is the old 6-fin rallye design, not the new 3-fin, and as darren mentioned, the rallye can be further ported just like the rsr can.
  8. haha. ya darren, dave from kk sent me that pic.. but said the one they stock now is the same but 3 fin. nice to see it was redesigned or i just would have had to cut those extra 3 off. i found a crack on the silencer box that was on the car.. so im guessin the rallye will give me a couple more psi than i was expecting :D
  9. ya thanks for cut and pasting the bbm site graphicfrost. i'm sure we can all find our way to their site just fine. what was that, a sales pitch?? lol  we're comparing rallye to rsr here... not stock box to rsr.. ya darren, the new design is 3 fin... so its the same as the pic you posted but with only 3 fins, correct?
  10. i have ekta actually... but i can't get it to tell me what car it comes from when i enter the part #.. so i took a guess at what i remember it coming out of, and sure enough.. oil cooler in a 1988 Audi 5000T matches the part number. :) so anyway.. there's no problem in oil pressure drop is there? i wouldn't imagine there would be.. car might take a bit more oil. am i wrong?
  11. hey barrie..you have a stock oil cooler on your G60?? i always wondered about that, and ive heard euro cars came with em.. we didn't get them in north america as far as i know. my car doesn't have one. i have a cooler from an audi 5000 (i think..got it a while ago and didn't see what car it came from) aw fuck it i'll take a pic.. is there any problem with dropping oil pressure when fitting a small oil cooler like this with a sandwich adapter at the oil filter?
  12. well, its 5:40 and canada post is all shut down for the day... without delivering my overnight express priority package to kk. so i get to go home and have a nice relaxing weekend wondering if they lost it. woo! fuckers.. :x
  13. any word on if the new 3-fin rallye design is any more restrictive than the RSR. i'm having my charger rebuilt at kk and all dave stocks is the rallye, he says its a new design and not restrictive at all.. just as good as the RSR. any opinions on it? thanks

    Why?

good points. i'm not sure how much emissions really has to do with it.. like C6 SVR said, they would have altered the design to meet emissions.. after all, they didn't cancel the VR6, they cancelled the corrado. they're still putting the old VR6 design in new cars aren't they? or is it only the 3.2L now? either way, they kept putting that engine in cars for a while after the corrado's demise. i'd like to add the evident release of the bug a few years later, which i think has a lot to do with it. its one thing to cancel the line, its another to have another line about to come out that they'd feel would take its place. they knew they'd be launching the bug by 1995.. vw has a habit of replacing nice looking cars with the bug.. corrado, and now the cabrio. bloody shame. efin hideous the bug. :x

    G60 Vs 1.8T

i think stock for stock the 1.8T should have a bit on us man... so if you're dead even i think thats a plus for you.. and us. the G60 setup needs a few cheap bits to make it significantly faster... but a chip on a 1.8T makes that significantly faster too.. both setups are pretty good imho, and both have a LOT of room for tweakin! but if you say stock vs. stock and you're dead even, makes me happy! i've never driven a stock G60.. driven an assload of 1.8Ts.. they're fun.

  18. lol. no chance. already runnin rich enough with the buggered o2 sensor. i have enough work to do on that thing, don't need to waste my time drivin it around like its an 8v golf!
  19. haha.. for sure lowG. $23.43 canadian to ship expresspost overnight, after tax and $1500 insurance. it weighed 12kg. now the waiting game! :? 8)
  20. pictures..notice the missing bolt and the spot of oil in the first pic. thanks PO! even if i put a new bolt in, i'm told the seal has already shifted :x off to the post office!
  21. yep.. right about 6300 i shift... 6400 if i'm really goin to town. but all that changes now because the charger is off, and about to be rebuilt! http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=12139
  22. i'm going to document the rebuild of my G60 g-lader here.. along with before/after results. i've gone back through and shaved my posts down a little since this got a little long. PO said the charger was rebuilt by the guy before him (thats 3-6 years ago now) but he had no documentation or nothin, and it hasn't been ported, as far as i can tell. 68mm pulley that pulls real hard to 10psi, then crawls to 12psi, which sounds like a sick g-lader.. i was going to try to wait until next winter to rebuild it, however, i decided now's the time, before the shit grenades. needless to say, the g-lader paranoia (you G60 guys know what i'm talking about has) has become a source of stress and uncertainty as i'm preparing to get my car back out on the road for the summer. i talked to dave (Kompressor Kanada) and he gave me a lot of confidence in the simplicity of the rebuild process.. he even called me back at home after seeing on his call display that he missed a call from me. :thumbleft: the removal instructions can be found on their site.. its a pretty straight forward job, but his instructions include the tools you need which is helpful if you're brutal at guessin bolt sizes, like me! (side note: his instructions say you need 2 wobbles to get the silencer box off.. i just took it off in two pieces and needed no special tools.. also, one mounting bolt was 13mm, not 14mm like it says) after getting the silencer box off, i noticed a feckin cracked off bit on the edge by where the two halves meet!! i'm sure this is part of my boost problem. i thought about just buying the rallye outlet to solve the cracked box problem and moving on with life for about 2 seconds.. then continued taking the charger off.. now it sits on my bedroom floor, probably gettin oil on my mum's carpet. if i wouldn't have had to make a trip into town for a 6mm allen socket, it would have taken an hour or a little under to get it out of the car. i'm shipping it out to kk overnight express on my lunch break, which from where i am will only cost me about $20-25 CDN each way.. not too bad for shipping cost, i hear he's done chargers from sweden, germany... few places on the other side of the water.. sure it cost them a fair bit to ship it! he's going to crack it open, inspect and take some pics and let me know what it needs. i'm hoping just the tune-up is required, but i'm fairly positive i'll end up going for the full nine yards just to be sure. oh and ... did i not mention .... stage 4 porting? :D still haven't decided if i'll have him paint it black, or if i'll have it polished up bling stylee along with the valve cover. i'm also going to grab a rallye outlet and an sns stage 3... while i wait for my stage 5-5 to arrive. hopin to have it back to me early next week. i'll try to snap some pics before i send it out.. and i'll post any other pics here as well. if you made it this far, thanks for reading.. :D
  23. not absolutely... but if you're pushin mad air through your engine (like you would with a healthy charger, 65mm at 6000+rpm) you're going to lean out (not enough gas, too much air) and you'll melt your lump. i'd say as long as you have a healthy fuel system, and you're not boosting much past 15psi, stock injectors are fine. if you get 15psi before you hit 6k.. then dont rev it any higher then whatever rpm makes 15psi until you get new injectors.. or you could get an air/fuel gauge to make sure...but they are not so accurate all the time. or you could get an exhaust temp gauge.. thats a better idea. if you're lean, the temps will jack way up. hope you're less confused!
  24. no ya don't! i rev to 6300-6400...mine's gettin rebuilt in a couple weeks though. :D
