  1. does any one know the part number for the oil pressure sensor that is fitted to the tee piece (don't know the part name) of the oil pressure braided

charger line where it connects to the engine - it is brown in colour. just taken my car out of hibernation and is has decided to drip oil through its electrical contact.

i have been looking at etka and cant see these parts identified.

  2. walk away from that car 6k !!!- has money pit written all over it - much better cars out there

check gumtree - vr6 in hillsborough northern ireland now reduced to £5500 - if i was in the market id be all over this

  3. That's the price I would like to hear ! I got quoted up to 3 k on my car for x2 sides. kept going back to the body shop and ended up building the guy some racks out of scaffolding and parting with 1.1k.

i find that trying to find someone who carries out good welding work is what is difficult now. the last car that needed quite a bit of welding was carried out by a local elderly gentleman who has since passed away and his work was first class and took a great deal of pride in his work and did not charge excessive amounts of money. he even did work for a local german prestige dealership who look after older cars for long term customers who would not trust their own bodyshops to carry out repairs. A lot just cover up the rust!

That price you got quoted is what i would expect going through insurance which we all know is a racket!

  4. i paid £2700 for a complete respray 3 years ago (flash red) i stripped the car completely, the body shop removed the rear side windows the tail gate screen remained just removed the seal. i removed the windscreen myself as it had been a badly fitted replacement with so much sealant it was stuck to the A pillar trims.i carried out some minor welding repairs to the rear sill / wheel arch joint. There was the usual shopping trolley dents and a crease in the rear bumper which were all repaired

The level of finish was excellent and still looks as good today although the car does not get much use.

At the time when he delivered the car back the bodyshop owner had under priced the work a little as the car took longer to prep as the old paint kept clogging up his sanders. This guy knew his stuff a quick walk around my car and he could tell which panels had seen paint in the past .

  5. jesus keyo vw certainly know how to charge for some panels !

not a bit of wonder why so many corrados were written off after minor prangs

how bad is the rust i suppose you will not know until you start

cant see how mk2 panel pieces would fit as the lines are totally different

how about rust free panel cuts

  6. well it passed errr just

after several attempts on the rollers it showed an imbalance of 34%

inspector said it should be 30% max

he noticed it had new discs, calipers and pads and with a wink and a nod

he said there not bedded in yet! - decent mot inspector !!

After a quick chat he believed there may still be air stuck in the brake line

He loves hot hatches of the pug type

i will give the bleeding another go sometime shortly

  7. Well this evening i removed the calipers adjusted the pistons just enough to pass over

the pads refitted the handbrake cables and no difference at all

The hand brake tunnel is perfect (where the tubes meet the welded upstand)

i cant see where the tubes pass through the floor with the rubber bungs due to the carpet

but i cant see this having any affect anyway as its not under stress

i will just see what happens on saturday

i will get everything back together tomorrow evening

  8. Sorry i have to start this again as i cant get back into my last post

I have got a new mot date for a retest on Saturday so have to get this sorted

i ordered new rear calipers and new handbrake cables (correct length 1015mm as stated on etka)

So this evening i got them all fitted bled etc but still a problem exists and i am afraid it will fail its mot again

the handbrake cables are still at slightly different lengths upon entering the handbrake tunnel - not as bad as previous

Adjusting the cables makes the problem worse the nearside requires more - about 6mm difference with the adjustment

and lock nuts fitted - surely these should pull up square?

At one click of the handbrake lever the handbrake begins to bite but there is a difference on the rear wheels i can rotate them with a bit

of force and the nearside wheel has less resistance easier to turn!

am i reading to much in to this and once this is on the rollers with the handbrake fully engaged all should be fine?
