  1. Just spotted my first Corrado on home ground! sadly was'nt in my Corrado, was in my dads l200, anyway...Deep blue Corrado, 17''(?) alloys, just set off from lights at the b'n'q warehouse near junc.2 of the m66 in Bury. Looked really nice, hope its someone on here. Tom
  2. I wish i was :luvlove: ! I never liked them(RS's in general) when i had a mk1 golf, but the more i see pics of the 301 and especially pics of them on a C, the more i want. ho hum, well out of my price range at the minute . but i suspect soon... in the mean time i think i'll give the RX's a home brew refurb  . Tom
  3. Hi, do the later style clocks fit in an early model, is it pretty much plug and play or there more to it? the only reason i ask is i really want (one day, when i find a set) the gauge pack which sits in the centre console, i think it was an option on later vr6's? It looks really good, but mirrors the later dash, so would look a bit at odds with the gauge pack. Also anyone have any idea how hard to find they are,i'm guessing very! Cheers, Tom :)
  4. Ok, i'm probably thinking waaaaaay to far ahead here, but i'm thinking of getting a decent set of winter wheels for the C as i don't think my 17'' bbs with toyo proxes will be much cop over winter(Bury council don't like to buy roadsalt/fill in potholes :mad2: ). Does anyone else fit winter wheels to they're C? If so can someone recommend me a good all round winter tyre, i'm thinking a (god forbid) 15'' wheel would be good start and should'nt cost to much to buy. I would go for some g60 steels but they are'nt exactly cheap, so i would be tempted to go for the g60 alloy instead(weird how the steel is now worth than the alloy? :dorky: ) Anyway, Thanks for reading, i probably am thinking to far ahead here, but the car is in daily use so would be nice to now i've a gota decent wet/snow tyre beneath me! Cheers Tom :D
  5. i would have thought satin silver would have been a popular choice for the corrado, can't believe its second from the bottom. (thats good, right? ) Tom
  6. I would'nt have thought the kr cams would produce as much power as that, well there you go, you learn something new everyday. I like that, should'nt cost the earth to do either. Cheers!
  7. Hi, i'm looking at purchasing some new cams for my new engine soon, I'm just wondering what people have found to be the best replacement camshafts for a 16v? I don't want something which only comes on at stupidly high in the rev range, the car is used everyday after all, i was thinking something like a phase 1/2. Apart from the camshaft, i was also going to; port and polish cylinder head, 4-2-1 exhaust manifold and full replacement s/s system plus a decent air filter(k+n?). Like i say, the car is used everyday so i want to keep it driveable, hence not going daft with the new engine, equally would like more power than standard kr. Any input appreciated. Cheers, Tom :)
  8. Spotted a black Corrado on the a483, just outsde of welshpool. reg M ### OBJ, could'nt see much as i spotted you last minute, looked nice. I was the chap in the silver Corrado waving like an absolutely idiot with a big grin all over my chevy chase! Tom :D
  9. Black corrado spotted today on the road heading to llanidloes heading away from newtown last 3 degits of reg nhx?
  10. Spotted a black/dark blue Corrado 16v parked on the car park of the metropole hotel in Llandrindod wells, had a corrado forum sticker in one of the windows, so i'm guessing its someone on here. Had 3 five spokes and 1 standard g60 alloy. nice to see another one on my travels though, the funny thing, i thought i'd see a corrado today! :D Tom :D
  11. Hi, i dug out an old april 2007 copy of performance VW tonight which has a beautiful satin silver vr6 in it which has all red rears, the more i look(which i just can't seem to stop myself... :norty: )the more i want, any ideas where i can get a set from, or does anyone have them fitted and where did you get them, cos i want 'em! Cheers, Tom
  12. very very well put sir. Spare a thought for us here in Ireland. Annual road tax for VR is over £900 :brickwall: and the roads are an absolute disgrace :bad-words: Yeah the roads rond here are pretty bad, funny how i never noticed before, but now i'm in a low, polybushed car with low profile tyres funny how you notice these things. £900??? how can they charge so much? I felt short changed handing over my £205!
  13. Thanks chaps, all i needed to know! :D
  14. Hi just wonderng if i need a special tool to replace the timing chain on a 16v kr? If so is it the sort of thing i could get from GSF etc, if not where? Cheers ears :D Tom
  15. Got two chufties today, The first was while i was geting pot hole tax, the lady behind the counter asked what model of Volkswagen the tax was for, i told her it was a Corrado and she said they were cute(she had a big grin on her face while she continued writing the tax disc out) :D The second was half six this evening, heading back home i passed a porsche 911 and the owner of said porsche proper craned his neck to try and get a better look at my Corrado! Ah, good times :D Tom
  16. So i was thinking along the right lines then :D , i would have thought one of the older manual companies like peter russek/ autodata etc may have made one, i think i'll go with the haynes for now and source a bentley in the future. oh well, i've been trying to find a proper vw manual, i was lucky enough to find one for my golf and the level of detail /illustrations is staggering, but then it would have as it was the real deal, sadly they are very rare, and when they do come up for sale they are invariably expensive and only cover one section(mine concentrates on the 1.6i engine). Would it be ok to use a golf mk2 gti manual,or would the passat(88-91) as recommended be better? Cheers, Tom :D
  17. Hi, as the title, trying to find a good manual for the corrado, i'd like to get a bentley manual, but mines a 16v and the bentley does'nt cover this model, the only other alternative i can see would be to buy a haynes golf mk2 gti 8v/16v manual to cover the engine, and a bentley for everything else. Does anyone know of any other manuals?(i'm after an actual manual, not one on c.d etc) Cheers, Tom :)
  18. Thats a really nice mk1 golf, i love lemon yellow, used to have mk2 polo in the same colour. IF you're 90% complete then i must be 0.5% complete :(
  19. I park mine under a tree behind my house, been boiling today, everywhere, in the house garden obviously, got in the corrado to get some ice cream and rinks and it was so cool inside. Lovely! Other went to Hare hill in Cheshire, and got stuck in traffic around wilmslow, we was cooking! ok though as we just kept the windows down on the way home, m60 at 80mph with the windows down, now thats coooool! :D
  20. Your not alone, interesting side to the corrado' history though.
  21. Was that picture taken at the wolfsburg museum?
  22. Would'nt touch a r8 personally, they look very nice but if i had that kind of cash, i'd build a super car beater. rat rods look awesome, especially as mentioned the last 'unloved' rod, pull it off so much better than old vw's as thay did first. Tom :)
  23. actually, for a floppy top, that looks alright. still would'nt own a convertible though. Tom :)
  24. Yeah i'm thinking the head may need rebuilding, i'm goingto start looking into costs. although i would like to ideally like to do piston rings big ends etc at the same time just for piece of mind. i may look into just replacing the engine with a lower mileage lump and then completely rebuild the original engine. 16v engines seem to be readily available quite cheap, its just taking a punt on a unknown unit i don't like. Cheers for your help david. Tom :D
