  1. cracking little article, glad ive still got mine.
  2. I've well and truly fallen back in love with mine. had it for sale for a while and as soon as i saw someone else driving it on a test, i knew i could'nt could'nt sell. i'm now hoping that summer 2013 will be better so i can actually use the damn thing as opposed to being a piece of garage furniture(although a very nice piece of garage furniture it is). presently thinking on wether to take the plunge and either turbo or supercharge it. i've got to make it quicker than my daily! Tom
  3. you certainly do. just glad the guy decided not to buy it in the end. ha did'nt think i would ever hear myself say that about something i had for sale , but there you go. roll on summer 2013 so i can start using it again. yeah its heartbreaking watching a car drive away and then thinking that, did the same with a silver mk1 golf i had many moons ago. still wish i had that car, glad i did'nt make the same mistake though. think i might give the old girl a polish over the weekend. Tom
  4. having had the corrado up for sale for a while now, i had a viewing the other day and really did'nt like seeing someone else drive it :( so, what swung it? seeing it driven back down my street, all that went through my head was 'f*ck, thats a good looking car' nuff said. my ramblings probably did'nt warrant their own thread ha ha. pretty i'm suprisingly chuffed with the outcome. guess the grass is'nt always greener and all that. well chuffed Tom:smug:
  5. 1.8 16v | Diamond silver metallic | Bury- North Manchester/ Lancashire area Price: £450 ono Description: For sale; 1991 VW Corrado 1.8 16v in Diamond silver metallic. Ok, I’ve decided to sell my old Corrado due to the fact that I’m never going to get round to finishing it. The engine failed in june last year and the car has been sat in my garage since. I have inspected the engine and found the valves to not be seating properly, and a massive carbon and rust build up on top of all 4 cylinders, I have removed the engine, gearbox and ancillaries from the car, the gearbox was good as this was from a later car and has not done as many miles, the engine was tired and always smoked before it gave up, that said always started first time and pulled well. The engine, gearbox and ancillaries are now included in the sale. The m.o.t expired in February 2012, it passed its last m.o.t(2011) with no advisories. As can be seen from the pictures externally the car is in very good order except for the missing door handles(the drivers door handle was destroyed by an attempted break in and I have used the passenger door handle for my other Corrado). There are a number of modifications to the car including; • Polybushed throughout • Stainless steel exhaust system • Golf mk4 rear brakes with Goodridge stainless hoses • Coilover suspension(fronts unused and still in box) • Polished front upper strut brace • Headlight loom upgrade(homemade) • 4 x Rota 17’’alloy wheels(available at extra cost). These retail around £500-550 new. 1 centre cap is missing. Other good points; • Recent partial respray (2009) • Original first aid kit and warning triangle • Fitted with window winders rather than electric windows(very rare for year) • Loads of service history Bad points; • Will require engine work/replacement engine • No m.o.t or tax-will require trailering/transporting • Interior (drivers seat and gearshift surround worn) • Sunroof does not slide(all other electrics were working 10 months ago when the car was laid up) • Some marks on the bodywork(mostly stonechips/ age related marks here and there, nothing serious) • Drivers door will require repainting/touching up(mates rates don’t always pay!) The car is in theory ready to receive a new engine straightaway, the wiring loom is all there and the braking system is untouched. The car will come with a box of bits(mostly interior bits and bobs). The car would make an easy summer project with a well worth result at the end of it, or a good breaker. I do not have the time or money to complete the car so I am selling, also I have another Corrado and have a another littl'un on the way so after something more practical! I’m reluctant to sell as I had planned to supercharge it but hopefully someone will put it deservedly back on the road and get a fantastic car at the end of it. There are'nt to many diamond silvers left now so come and take a look if your after a Corrado project, this car got so many looks and compliments when it was running! Open to sensible offers around the £450 mark is the bring your own wheels price. Car is located in North Manchester/Rossendale border (Bury) 07541370650 or [email protected] or p.m me
  6. After Betty was broken into and i had the door replaced painted etc, i was tinkering under the bonnet, i went to start the corrado(through the window as you do) with it in gear, car lurches forward...crunch nice big dent and a scratch for my efforts was not a happy bunny  However thats nothing compared to a very similar incident with my first mk1 golf, it was running very rough and i was working on it at a mates unit. I had all my tools toolbox etc at the front of the car, car started and due to my tinkering with the carb (theres that word again!) the car started lurched forward, kept going and ran over my toolbox and almost into a wall. Nice big dent in the front panel, front splitter hanging off and a destroyed toolbox...:mad::mad: Tom
  7. It was the first time i've been to Harewood, wasn't that impressed, some very very nice cars on show but considering the size of the place it felt crowded and the layout seemed strange, still some good photos and a good drive out and back. no pics of the multi coloured C i'm afraid, It looked like it had had a front end smash at some point and had all the front panels replaced and i saw it pre repaint! Either that or the chap driving it fancied building himself a Harlequin C!:thumbleft: Cheers Tom
  8. Twas me on the way back from harewood with the wife and dog in tow Nice C dude!. we spotted a black C as well on the same road before you (ended NAJ) not sure what flavour, and a multi coloured c on the m62 Northbound(just after junc 22 at the summit). which was mostly Green, with a bit of red silver and black thrown in for good measure! Tom
  9. I want a set for my car! Awesome:cool:
  10. Could have been me i did get stuck in the jam because of this. Tom
  11. There was also the heidelberg VI, I think it was made under contract for VW by Blaupunkt. Really suits the switchgear of the earlier cars(diagonal lines on the buttons). I have to admit i'd love to have a tape deck, have to get a fischer C box to go with it though. Tom
  12. yeah my 1.8 has an upgraded loom but the 2.0 does'nt, i'd transfer it but its a homemade jobby and does'nt look as good as the dg box. 1 day i'll have a silver g60 although i'm tempted to rebuild the 1.8 as a g60, but its early days yet. i'll tease myself some more if you put it up for sale.
  13. Yeah it helps there in good condition. but silver and all red rears work so well together it would be criminal not to...
  14. Spotted a tidy red g60 on a h plate at tatton park in the car park.

    Help!!!

Wow, really hope i don't have to replace the screens on either of my 2. Tom
  16. Yeah, its amazing the amount of little differences there are between the 2 models, still getting used to the bonnet 'bulge' though. looking forward to getting stuck in to this one and giving her a proper polish next weekend if i can, noticed a few imperfections when i washed her. alloys, dents/chips sorted(the paints far to good for a repaint) and new rear lights and she'll be alreet! (oh and and a new head unit) :smug: Tom
  17. That is smart. Corrados really work in greys and silvers very teutonic. I have a g60 itch, when i finally get round to scratching it i hope my car looks half as good as yours! By the way how much was the headlight upgrade? Tom
  18. Looks good, what engine is it?
  19. Looks smart Stella, its a nice colour, difficult to tell from the pics but is it more green or more grey? whatever it is its nice. Tom
  20. cheers, went over to tatton today and gave her a wash when i got back. hopefully be getting the bbs in the refurbers next week. Tom
  21. Betty needs a full engine rebuild. presently got the head off and doing some investigating. Betty was always a bit mechanically tired, i'm just seeing this as a good time to get her sorted as the body/ paint and interior won't take much to sort. Probably won't get anything else done this weekend as planning to go vwnw tomorrow and if it stays nice i want to give cyd a wash and wax. You going tomorrow?
  22. Picked up the new Corrado today. heres a sneak peek ; You can find the main thread here; http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?57352-Introducing-Cyd-the-1992-2.0l-16v.&p=736106#post736106 Tom
  23. Following from here; http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?50643-Betty-Tom-s-1991-Diamond-silver-16v After the death of Betty I decided I had better start looking for a replacement Car as I was getting sick of having no wheels!(well I have plenty of wheels, three sets in the garage actually, but I digress). I looked at all sorts of replacement cars including Golfs(mk1-3), Polos(mk2-4), Sciroccos(mk1 and 2) and of course Corrados! I eventually decided that I would really like another Corrado and after a few weeks searching I found 'Cyd' on Pistonheads. I travelled down to Amersham in Buckinghamshire today and picked Cyd up, and had a blast on the journey back. The Corrado has been very well looked after by Nick the previous owner who has owned Cyd for the past 12 years and has practically rebuilt her in that time. Anyway heres some pics; The Corrado is fantastic to drive, really smooth through the gears and puts power down super smooth. It really is a joy to drive. My plans at the moment are to get the BBS refurbed and fitted, the present alloys are'nt really my taste so they will be going soon, a decent alarm system(i don't want a repeat of Betty earlier in the year)all red rears and enjoy her! Tom:cheers:
  24. Hi can anyone tell me how to remove the front bumper please, i got so far as removing the fogs/indicators and then spent the next hour fumbling underneath the car trying to find the fasteners. help please! Tom
