Well, i went to pick up the replacements for the BBS, i found a set of Rota Slipstreams. The pics on ebay did'nt really show just how curbed they were or the amount of lacquer peel on them, So i've spent the last 2 days cleaning them up. First i got rid of the curb marks, then the nasty peeling lacquer, all they really need now is some paint in the centres(and some new centre caps) and they'll be ready to mount on the C. These are as i got them; This is after some TLC:smug:; Pretty happy with the end results, i've mildly polished the lips, but i'd need a machine polisher to get a deeper shine.:thumbleft: Tom

Will do, i thought the mk2 had been there longer, nice to see some old vw's around these parts, especially a rado, there don't seem to be many. Tom

Spotted a few over the weekend, first was a colour coded nugget on the northbound m6(could'nt get the reg), just outside Birmingham. Second was spotted out and about in Plymouth on sunday, L###AMA very standard vr6, Third was yesterday in back in Bury, purple later model parked up other side of Angouleme way in a plumbers merchant yard. was parked next to a ratty mk2 16v which has been there as long as i can remember(perhaps it has something to talk to now???) Again could'nt get the plates or flava. Tom

Ah, i will have a look at the other fuses, the ones i checked were fine, but could'nt see any more. i had a golf mk3 pump (which i assume is the same as a later C?) but the wiring connection was different, not to mention the pump itself was different(VDO I believe?). Will check and see how i get on. Cheers!

Hi, i had to replace my drivers door recently, and to remove the door i had to cut one of the plugs on the central locking loom inside the door. Once i had got the new door on i started putting everything back together, in doing so 1 of the 4 exposed wires touched another and set the central locking pump which switched on for about 5-10 seconds and then stopped(or died?) I put everything back where it was meant to be and connected all the wires i had earlier cut back correctly, i have checked the pump and can't get any life out of it? also checked the fuses, although if someone could tell what number fuse it is, i think my fuse cover is from a passat as it lists a carburettor! Has my locking pump died? Only asking as i will be getting a new alarm system soon and don't want to be told its something its not by the installer. Cheers, Tom

Can't sort the puncture as the rim has been welded in the past which is were its leeking from... tyre fitter reckoned a pothole had probably jarred it causing the leek, in short it has to be properly refurbished and welded :( I did get to take the car out for a spin on monday, which was great(despite being limited to 50mph, stoopid space saver!) reminded me why i bought the car, i'd go so far as to say i was as excited about taking the C out as when i bought her! insurance is due soon, £397 for the year which i'm very happy with. Hope to be (properly) motoring again soon! Tom

cheers!

Cheers for the comments, yeah mine went boom! splatt! It is a ridiculously fiddly job for what it is. Getting there, off to sort the puncture out this afternoon. my central locking has gone... checked the pump, fuses etc. but no life. at least i can lock the car the old fashioned way!

Well, after the recent break in, the new door is now painted and on the car, however, i'm not 100% happy with the paint, so i'll be taking it in when i get a few other jobs done, the central locking pump appears to have given up, and delocked handles make getting in to the car a hard work! my n/s front tyre has picked up a puncture(amazing that considering its been parked in a garage!), on the plus side, i did get the headlight surrounds and grille repainted as well as the rear badge and roof strips which look fantastic and really bring the car up, especially the front. Also started undersealing the car, happy to report that i'm finding very little rust, and i think i might have a go at a home brew wheel refurb to. I am missing driving Betty though, completely skinted myself getting the door painted and sorting out handles etc, still have an alarm system to pay for to and now a puncture to sort... :( Anyway, hopefully have the old girl back motoring again soon. Tom oh and the front spoiler did act like a snow plough over winter :)

Where to find your nearest corrado
holeinmk1 replied to Alex_G60_Fanatic's topic in General Car Chat
Added, did'nt put the exact location... -
Hi my corrado never had speakers in when i bought it, which did'nt bother me at first, but now i would like to fit some. I won't be fitting an amp, i did have excellent JBL gto's 4x6 left over from my mk1 days, but they don't fit in the parcel shelf supports(magnets to big, was tempted to butcher the supports but decided not to) Not after going mega loud, just want something with a decent sound. Also my headunit is getting on a bit, its a JVC. So if anyone can recommend a decent headunit that is inkeeping with interior that would be good to. I was tempted to buy a VW heidelberg vi tape deck, as fitted to some vw models of the time, and send it off to be rebuilt with the addition of an external aux for an mp3, and maybe digital radio if the cost was'nt prohibitive, but they are proving quite hard to track down... Cheers, Tom
-
they caused a stupid amount of damage and still did'nt get in, bravo corrado! i can just imagine some dude with feet on the door pulling on the handle/doorframe giving all he's got, just needs the benny hill theme and britains most inept car theives. cheers
-
The cops did dust the car, but they were wearing gloves so no fingerprints, they were however able to get the shoe prints off the door. I've decided i'm going to get a really decent alarm system and fit delocked door handles(i'm hoping the lack of an obvious barrel may act as a future deterrent?) Simon- might take you up on that door mate if its in good shape, disadvantage of owning a C in a rare colour i suppose! Tom

Nothing stolen as the lock never gave in (thank god) they just bent the door trying to get in theres no stereo in the car..on my list of things to do just a carseat. police think they wanted to joyride it more than steal things from it. i need a diamond silver door although any silver door will do, really dont want another colour as round here it will only cause attention to it. If anyone heres of a silver door please let me know cheers Tom
-
Managed to bend the door back enough so it shuts and locks but its off to my mums garage tonight any door will do right now can always have it sprayed. fingers crossed they catch the f*ckers
-
The police turned up suprisingly quick, about 5-10 minutes after i made the call! I'm so angry, i want to sit out with the C tonight with a baseball bat and see if they return. you can't see it, but theres footprints on the door, so they had both feet off the ground trying to open it. suprised the old girl stood up to it really, at least they did'nt get in...or worse. Tom

Hi i need a drivers door for a 1991 16v in diamond silver, must be in good condition. Have cash waiting. Also after a shallow front spoiler, but this is much less priority. Cheers, Tom 07541370650

spotted on Monday on the m60 heading for Bury direction, work in progress as the back was dragon green, the bonnet red and the front wings grey! the missus spotted this one. Tom :)

Or for the Calibra to hit the Probe as it parked up!

I can't believe its been so long since I last posted here, Coilovers are on the car now, the back is sitting a little high for my taste, but I can't go lower without spacers. Recent spends include replacing the 2 front tyres(she now sports Toyo R1's all round :D ) and the heater matrix after it blew on the on the mountain road between Llanidloes and Machynlleth whilst visiting family(stranded in the middle of nowhere, with no heating on possibly the quietest road in mid Wales with no phone reception....) Having removed the heater matrix (what a pain that was!)I could see that it had literally blown a hole in itself, I was perhaps pushing the old girl to hard... All said and done, shes running well, apart from a squeaky pulley when she's warming up. I'm hoping my front splitter won't act as to much of a snow plough over winter! :D Tom

Hi, anyone had to replace one recently? A dirty big truck threw a rock at mine a few months back and winters coming so thought i best get it sorted, autoglass say it can't be repaired as its near the edge, just need to know costs and if anyone can recommend anywhere? Cheers, Tom :)

Well, my rear shocks have gone, the corrado now drags its arse on anything but the smoothest of roads(i dread to think what the middle box looks like :censored: ) and is handling like a pig. So, i've got some brand new coily's waiting to go on, decided to go for Jamex one's as i've heard some good things about them and i am on a budget, but seriously, i think bits of wood would be beeter than the rear suspension right now! I've also ordered some new polybushes to do the top mounts and rear beam, as the rear beam was an advisory at the last mot and the top mounts were replaced twice by the previous owner(he only had it 18 months!) so thought i may as well while i'm there. Just waiting for the bushes to arrive now, should be on by next weekend all being well. The sooner the better. Also noticing a clunk coming from the when the car sets off, so i suspect i should have ordered some new mounts for the engine and gearbox while i was there(at least i hope its that.... ) Hoping to give her a wash this weekend now the dreaded hosepipe ban has been lifted. :D
-
Its not really, its quite presentable considering its been mums glorified shopping trolley! its still got mot and tax and its just been serviced so i'mgoing to ask £300-£400 for methinks. Cheers
-
i've just been looking at the price the parts sell for... think i'll fix it up,may get £300 or so in its present state. cheers.
