The fuel gauge on my rado does all sorts of wierd and wonderful things. Reading fuel accurately isn't one of them! At 70 I can coax just under 40 mpg out of the rado with some sensible motorway driving. I'm running it on VPower at the moment, which seems to do best.

I use the battery from my diesel focus. That thing could jump start a dead horse.
-
Swore at it for leaking coolant. Again.

To give my official title I'm a Breakdown Recovery Co-ordinator for a large national breakdown company. Looking at finishing my CCNA hopefully later this year so we'll see where that takes me, and planning on going to uni next year when I'm 21 as a mature student.

Mainly "do you have a spare wheel?" You do get the odd gem, had someone who didn't know where the engine was on their own bike. Loads of people who have dead key fob batteries but don't think of unlocking the car with the physical key! Have you ever tried explaining the difference between a steelie and an alloy to someone who hasn't a clue! You get a lot of "yes... it has wheels" The one that makes me cringe is someone locking their keys in th boot and finding out they keep the spare key in the glovebox...

Working in Runcorn for 8 weeks - anyone wanna meet?
stretch. replied to djmac56's topic in General Car Chat
I'll be over in Bury (mancs) next week Mon - Weds, so if you're still pining for company drop me a pm Always enjoy a ride out in't rado. Hell it might even be clean and not leaking! -
My little Emergency Kit - Jump Leads - Hazard Triangle - Spare Wheel, Jack, Wheel Brace - 2 ltr water bottle - 2 ltr Coolant - 1 ltr Oil top up - Small socket/screwdriver set (Front drivers door bin is the perfect spot for this on a 'rado ) - Nitrile Gloves - First Aid kit You'd be surprised at the amount of people who don't know where their spare tyre is. Let alone how to change the bugger. I work for the 3rd largest breakdown company and the most common phrase is "Oh... I don't know, I've never checked"

Right, well my '90 1.8 16v has had a little bit of a leak recently, Thanks to a dusty road I've pinpointed it down to the top radiator hose (the overflow?) had sprung a leak, temp replaced this with some fuel line (not ideal but I had a fair leg of a journey to complete). Once again it's leaking at the rad end. Now I read somewhere on here that the black capped expansion bottles should have been replaced due to overflow issues? Mine still has it's original, so I'll be looking at changing that as soon as I can just in case, but could this be the culprit that potentially caused the leak? Anyways, I've digressed enough and my main question is, what is the proper diameter I need for that hose? I'm gonna track down a decent hose samco or otherwise for it this time see if that does me any better!

I quite like the S4 front end on the 'rado... Looked pretty sweet in my opinion. The Audi badge is a bit tacky, debadged it'd be top notch!

On the website TP/TPFT were both more expensive than I'm now paying fully comp  I have a fairly high voluntary excess, but also I managed to get them to come down on price a fair bit by saying "X company did this" or "Y company have quoted me £300 less than that" etc They're also letting me use 2 NCB, even though my 1 NCB is on my other policy at the moment, and I won't have got 2 NCB until that policy ends in September. Can normally only use NCB on one policy at a time, but if they say it's ok and I've got that in writing, who am I to argue[/quote:2b6pd4wb] Hah I would've tried that but swapped the corrado over onto the policy mid term after my focus got written off. My total excess is only £150 though, and I live in an F rated postcode... We'll see if it's still insurable come my renewal with 0ncb!
-
Damn you... I pay 1700 tpft for my valver :( Anyways, replaced passenger side door handle and reminded my friends the car was older than them so to treat it with some respect! Then I made them help me give it a decent wash... shame it's in need of a fair chunk of bodywork!

I had the pleasure of owning a 53 Plate focus TDCi Sport, and our family has had 3 focus' (albeit estates) from new, and I have to say, for the money not much new metal handles better today. However. My 'rado when it's running right leaves me with a grin from ear to ear. It might not do the 50+mpg that my focus did, or have parts as cheap, or be able to take 2 prams and some luggage, but it's a completely different type of car. But given the chance some people would compare a Honda Cup with a Harley VTwin and a Yamaha R1 and a Potato given half a chance to.

Whats the best MPG anyones had out of a Corrado?
stretch. replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in General Car Chat
Well the car may have been operating at it's peak, but I damn well wasn't! I was resorting to hiding behind lorries for shade! -
1990 16v here as well without a sunroof... Don't think they had sun 20 years ago in West Germany... :) Also, at what age do you stop seeing "Made in W Germany" on all of the car bits lol

41.6mpg on Shell V Power on the way from Leeds -> Alton, Hampshire.... Babying it at 70mph all the way. Then I got stuck on the m25 for 3 hours in 40+ degree heat. Not fun. -
I had a brodit kit with my fiesta, the placements aren't exactly ideal for the 'rado though, as it's the left hand side of the centre console. Still have an unused holder for a brodit kit 3g, just no car mount attatchment!
-
Damn... I feel... insignificant at that! 8% for 1.8 16v's :(
-
iirc it gets up to around a max 120 - 130 db in the stands on a full throttle segment if there's a few cars at once. You have to remember sound is the reverberation of air that's disrupted by even other sound waves, echoes, other cars, blades of grass rustling in the wind... etc. Pick up a decent f1 style cap though: as with ott ear defenders, if you're wearing a cap, you will get chafed ears!

I've seen that one before, on the road from the A64 >> Temple Newsam/Cross Gates/Lidl way, @Manchester guys... I was there on sunday too :( Was in the overflow car park waaay at the back with my old car club though!

I like that steering wheel though...

@ Critical Mass: The Leisure centre in Pudsey, just up the road from me! Had one of my cisco tutor's mess with my head the other day "Your car... is it blue?" ... yes... "vw?" ... yes... "old?" ... yes... "oh... it's on fire." What a pillock. Never moved so fast in my life! Not really a chufty... but kinda counts.

Parked next to an L reg golf in the leisure centre car park the other night while I was skating around (gotta love smoooooth tarmac!) and she said she loved seeing it on the road and out and about! And that she's owned about 5 'rocco's but never got the chance to own a 'rado! Twas nice :) @daves16v: Tell him to stop fannying about and buy one already! I'm not even 20 and own a 'rado!
