You can, yes. If you pop the wipers off and undo the larger spindle nut, the spindles will just drop through. Nothing is connected to the plastic trim. It takes a bit of wiggling to get the wiper mech out from under the scuttle, but that's the same whether the plastic trim is on or not. I can't remember if you picked up one of my sets of wiper bushes, but that's exactly the sort of play in the connecting rod that they will get rid of.

Shiny! Do heat shields start to degrade over time? Other than getting dirty and less reflective I suppose! I'm not sure if it's just pressed from a single sheet of metal or if it has a sandwich of something in between. Engine bay looks great!

Well this is very odd. Couldn't really see any obvious issues, and when the tow truck arrived to pick the car up it started and ran perfectly. No misfire or lumpyness, and more importantly no fuel spraying out! I've had it taken to the garage anyway to get checked out, and speaking to the mechanic apparently that does happen with fuel leaks. So we shall see.

I used one of those easy bleeder kits which actually seemed to work OK, except I forgot to bleed the master cylinder so the brakes still didn't work. I'd hope if I had done that as well it would have been OK. In fairness two separate garages missed it as well. Not a pleasant job though!

Yeah, fairly sure. The pipes were new braided ones from Hel and didn't see any traces of fuel around them. Good shout on the clips, I'll have another poke around and see if I can see anything, but I think I am just going to get it towed to a garage. Don't really feel like I have the time and energy trying to fix this one... and it's not ideal with it parked on the road!

Not had much to report recently as hadn't done anything to the car and it has been running well since the rebuild... until disaster on Sunday. Started her up and immediately the idle was lumpy and sounded like a misfire. Tried revving a bit to see if it would pick up and settle down, but it didn't. There was also a strong whiff of fuel (which sometimes is normal starting from cold with the rich running) but this time it was because fuel was pissing all over the road. I mean loads of it, not just a trickle. Had a quick look under the bonnet and all I could see was a bit of fuel around the injectors, so I presume the seals have started leaking. I could see fuel all over the front cross member as well, and it was dripping off the splitter. No idea what's happened. Had the injectors refurbished when I did the rebuild so they should all be fine, and the seals new. Only been using E5 fuel as well, so shouldn't have had any degradation there. And last time I drove it, it was running perfectly. The only thing is I don't get to drive it that often, last time was around 4 weeks ago, and things always seem to go wrong through not using it, but I am still a little baffled and deflated. The rebuild was supposed to mean things like this didn't happen!

I was going to ask if I could add my name to the list if they were still being made, but I see it is already there! Did anything come of this?
-
I have now received the batch of these, so will message people to see if they are still interested.
-
Sorry all I realise I have been a bit slow on this, but to confirm I have put the order in for a second batch, so these should be arriving in a couple of weeks and then I can get them sent out.
-
Thanks They've been on my car and running well for the last 6 months or so. Had a few runs in the recent rainy weather and they appear to be holding tight. haven't noticed any wiper slop at all really. I've sent the first batch out to people (see parts for sale thread) although there's been no feedback from others as to how these are working, so not sure if anyone has fitted them yet. I've just had a second batch made up as well. The 3D printed ones seem to work OK, although as you say the finish isn't as good as if they were machined. If you do know of any machine shops that might do an improved version that might last longer I'd be happy to hear them!
-
Apologies all, I haven't managed to put the order in for the next batch yet, but hopefully will get onto that in the next couple of weeks.
-
Ah that does sound more like mine as well - over 20 mins or so tends to be the issue. Yes I do still get the odd long crank when cold as well, but I use the car quite infrequently. Around once every two weeks at the moment, so that doesn't feel out of the ordinary.
-
Good news! Although I was slightly hoping it was something I hadn't done on my car before! Maybe it's not a single issue and varies from car to car - perhaps I'll try swapping out the fuel pump as I had the injectors refurbed by Mr Injector on mine as well.
-
Ah interesting. This all does seem to point to the pump being the culprit then!
-
That looks stunning! Is that Aqua or Midnight blue? The black wheels really set it off.
-
Yeah, after it was first put on I found it was leaking fuel all over the top of the tank. I had driven it a few times and kept thinking I could smell fuel. Only noticed it started dripping all over the road. Not good. Tightened the clips up and it has been fine since, but now it's always at the back of my mind that it's another potential area for a leak.
-
If it was me doing it again I probably wouldn't put the valve in to be honest. I had one put in on mine and regret it somewhat.
-
Cheers, I'll give this guy a call. I am taking it into a local classic car place for a look over, but will see if this guy can help as well.

22mm is correct on the spindle nuts. Maneuvering it out is a pain - it takes a bit of wiggling in just the right way. For a while it will seem like it won't come out, then miraculously just does! Are you painting yours with the U-Pol plastic range? Unfortunately with ine it seemed like water had got under the paint (or my prep wasn't good enough) and a load of small blow holes had formed, which was a bit annoying. Did a quick respray on the car, but the results aren't as good as they were.
-
Good point on the run in! 😄 Mine will have only had a couple of thousand. Yup, same for the me on the warm start so interesting to see how you get on with the fuel pump. i haven't really looked at the fuel pump so can't help on the cracked palstic bit - but I can understand being reluctant to take apart a £200 part. Good luck though!
-
Ah thanks for the update. I did go to a paintless dent removal chap, and he just blanket came back to say he couldn't do them. I meant to follow up with him, because it seemed an odd thing to say! He was a highly rated one as well, so that reminds me! It may have been that he was saying because the paint was damaged you can't do a paintless repair (obviously!) but not all of the dents are scraped.

Ah thanks, looks nice. Similar curves to mine (as you'd expect), although peaks are a little bit higher. The graph is in my thread if you're interested. Mine was 215 HP and 209 ftlbs peaks - I can't say I am disappointed with the results as like you say it drives so much but I remember hoping it'd hit 220! Stealth re-bored my block and added new pistons and rings which I thought might provide bit more oomph. I always wonder what accounts for these little variances - mine was also a hot day, 27C but a bit more humid, so that might make a difference. Just the vagaries of engines I guess! Mr Injector is great for injectors, he did mine as well. On the warm start issue I think the only things I haven't done to mine that you did to your white one is the fuel pump and the cam and crank sensors - so maybe that would narrow it down a bit?
-
Do you have your power charts you could post? I have the 263s and a remap as well, so would be interested to see how they compare. I had the head refurbed as well, and took the time to grind off some of the worst casting flashing in the inlet runners (although I suspect this wasn't worth the effort!) Let us know if you have any luck with the warm start issue! I had a good chat with Vince @ Stealth and in all his years he's never got to the bottom of it, other than a suspicion it's somehow the ECU.

I have run the Rainsports (16" 205/45) for about 10 years and generally quite happy with them. Tread pattern looks nice, if you like that sort of thing! However, I was considering trying an, on paper, quieter tyre. I think a lot of the cabin noise I get at high speed is the tyre noise, so it is possible the Rainsports are a noisier tyre, but I don't have a direct comparison to say for certain. Not sure on going to 215/40. I don't think I'd want a tyre that is that much harder - it's not like the ride is jarring; you hear the bumps more than feel them I find, and they're very noticeable. Especially when you get back in after a more modern car.

No, I don't actually do the 3D printing, I don't have printer. I've just been able to model things in 3D and then source it to an online 3D printer. Unfortunately most of these have a minimum order value so I have to get them in batches of 20 or so.
