Rob I feel your pain--- been there in the past with other cars. One mistake I have made before is to buy a new part and assume that it will work. Don't forget the possibility that the 'new' crank sensor could be faulty. The other thing to check is the wiring from the crank sensor. If that is faulty the ECU will not receive the required info. Had a busy summer- bought the missus a Eunos Roadster (great fun to drive) then someone drove into it and wrote it off. So I then sourced a replacement. But also the parts to repair the first one. Now I need to get her re MOT'd and VIC checked --- I will then probably sell her OH and we had 3 weeks in Florida too

Good luck with the problem mate--- hopefully easy to find and cheap to fix Darren

I had a 97 evo in Techno Violet . They really are such good cars. There is a mile of difference between a good one and an average one though. BMW FSH is essential though. On the Inspection II the valves need to be adjusted with the engine stone cold- so the car must always be taken to the garage the day before it is done. -

Re vanos units. I saw a few where the Vanos was failing and they make a distinctive noise if I recall. With these cars S/H is everything. During the inspection 2 the tappets or valves need adjusting and the car MUST be stone cold to do this correctly. Once you have an M3 you are treated differently by dealer. They are more whiling to loan you a decent car during servicing. Once I got a Cooper S Works for a couple of days- it was well loaded with extras& so much fun. Don't worry about the image either. all the knobs are in Audis now!!!! Sent from iPhone 4 using Tapatalk -

I had an E36 m3 Evo about 8 years ago- that was a great driver's car. No traction control- just great balance. I still miss it. I have driven a few E46 M3 and they are incredible . The expensive service on the Inspection 2 . See which was is due next and when it would be. If the next one is an oil service and not for a few months you could run her for 9 months for peanuts. That's right mate. And in the US and Canada they called it the Miata. I did look at a lot of English ones but they rot through there sills so quickly and also the rear N/S arch too. Being a soft top the drainage is vital. So I have a pop up spoiler and Carole has pop up headlights!! -
I haven't been on here much this week because I have been a little distracted. I have bought my wife a Eunos Roadster for the summer. I first drove one of these about 10 years ago and they handle fantastically & they are great fun. Being the imported one it is rust free, low mileage, Air-con, LSD, & elec windows.
